Chapter 151: Human Seed Project
As Yang Yi left Chris's house, a smile played on her face.
"He said he loves me... loves the me of now, just me myself, not anything else..." she thought silently, a warm current flooding her chest, flowing through her entire body, filling her with strength.
When she came, she seemed to carry a mountain on her back, her body bent under the weight; now, as she left, she felt as if she had returned fully laden, her body and mind light, even wanting to dance.
This pleasant feeling lasted for quite a while; she deliberately flew a little slower in the sky, then even slower, extending this sensation for a bit longer.
But as Xia Country drew nearer, the curtain of night was gradually torn open, pale blue dawn light pierced the horizon, and the joy in her heart slowly dissipated like thin smoke.
That great mountain pressed down on her shoulders once more, growing heavier and heavier; the smile vanished from her face, gradually returning to her usual expression, which was even slightly dull.
She glanced at the time on her phone: 6:15. She still had time to return to the dormitory to tidy herself up, then attend an important meeting.
She considered her work schedule for the coming period: assisting the Dark Matter and Astronomy Research Institute in studying interdimensional channels, cooperating with the scientists of the Evil God Special Research Group to study the operating principles of the altar... and most importantly, assisting the United Nations and Xia Country in capturing and eliminating Class-A anomalous creatures that had fled to various corners of Earth.
However, deep in her heart, she knew clearly that these seemingly important tasks were merely trivial details; what truly mattered was the huge shadow looming over human survival, the true crisis whose very name would draw attention—It.
Humanity had experienced a crisis of extinction this time, but in reality, people had not even seen the true face of their real opponent, knowing only a trace of Its lingering power from the Evil God's believers.
From fragmented memories, she learned that It had been in a deep slumber, with only Its believers expanding territory for their Lord, attempting to awaken It.
Also from those fragmented memories, she had drawn a sorrowful conclusion: no matter what, the Evil God could not be opposed... Facing It, even the word "oppose" seemed utterly ridiculous.
This was not the gap between an ant and an elephant, nor even the gap between an ant and the entire human civilization...
Even if there was a sliver of possibility, time was far from sufficient.
She lowered her eyes.
But there is still a glimmer of hope, isn't there?
Only a portion of the Evil God's believers had invaded Earth; if the "Evil God" personally issued an order—even without issuing a direct command, merely giving the believers a vague hint—the crisis on Earth could be resolved effortlessly.
First and foremost, it was necessary to completely fuse that fragment...
But before that, she must make a perfect plan.
Beneath her lowered eyelids, no one could see two tiny vortices spinning, twisting, and deforming within her pitch-black pupils...

"Everyone, I have listened to the meetings held these past days. Today, I will present my three suggestions."
Yang Yi pushed aside the documents on the table and looked at the attendees on both sides of the long table.
This was an absolutely high-level meeting; everyone present belonged to the top decision-making layer of Xia Country. This was also the first time Yang Yi had actively voiced her own opinion; in the past, she had remained silent, expressing her views only when others asked, and those views were mostly conventional and proper.
She had cultivated an attitude of speaking only when it concerned her directly; only regarding matters within her own scope of work did she offer opinions appropriately.
Such an observer stance almost seemed deliberately contrived, but from this deliberate attitude, people had drawn a reassuring conclusion—her hand would not reach too far, she would not abuse her power, and she would not easily interfere in politics.
In fact, except for anomalous creatures, she hardly managed anything else.
This made these great figures breathe a sigh of relief.
But today, at the stage where the consecutive days of meetings were about to conclude, at the moment when a grand ceremony to bestow the insignia would be held two days later for those who had made major contributions to the crisis—actually, everyone knew full well the true intention behind this ceremony—Yang Yi suddenly raised suggestions, and not just one, but three, causing everyone in the conference room to look at each other in surprise.
The atmosphere in the conference room suddenly grew tense; those who had been drinking tea gently set down their thermos cups, those who had been flipping through documents closed the papers, and those who had been preparing to speak immediately shut their mouths.
The National Leader sitting at the head still wore a kind yet majestic smile, showing no sign of surprise at all. "Then let Captain Yang speak a few words..."
Yang Yi nodded and said in a flat tone, "Through the events of the past two months, everyone must have felt the rampant behavior of the Evil God's believers. I believe countless departments and agencies have analyzed that unknown Evil God countless times. In short, one sentence: this unknown Evil God is currently in a slumber, and Its believers are trying every means to awaken It. The method to awaken It is life—countless lives."
"Judging from the interdimensional spaces of the Yellow Sand Planet, the Red Moon Planet, and the Misty Town, this God's appetite is huge, so huge that the mere Earth is but a small appetizer for It."
Everyone's faces were solemn; naturally, these high-level officials had long been aware of this situation, but they simply had no better solution and could only temporarily conceal it from the public.
But naturally, there were also smart people among the public; theories of human extinction had long been circulating secretly among the masses, and pessimistic and desperate emotions had begun to show on the internet.
"Awakened ones might still have a chance to become Its believers, but ordinary people... in the eyes of those Evil God believers, are utterly meaningless, fit only to be a bit of fuel to awaken the Evil God..."
Yang Yi's words were extremely impolite, and the faces of the high-level officials present did not look very good. The vast majority of attendees were ordinary people; they had spent half their lives to reach these positions and had hardly heard such un-euphemistic, impolite words for many years.
The National Leader's expression did not change; he even nodded in agreement. "Captain Yang speaks very correctly. This crisis can be said to be the greatest crisis humanity has encountered since its birth. We have currently envisioned countless response plans for such a situation, but all have been unable to proceed because the enemy is too powerful and the information is too vague... But since Captain Yang has specifically raised this today, does she have any different opinions on this?"
"Everyone present is smarter than me and has more experience than me; I am sure you have already envisioned these trivial opinions of mine. But I will only speak of what I can achieve, to give everyone a clear picture—"
Yang Yi smiled, and the atmosphere in the conference room relaxed slightly.
"These three suggestions might as well be called the 'Human Seed Project'—1. Disperse humanity and carry out interstellar migration. Do not put all eggs in one basket; dispersing them is actually beneficial for preserving the human seed. I can be responsible for opening planetary channels; the planetary coordinates I currently possess include the Yellow Sand Planet, the Red Moon Planet, and the planet accessible via the Misty Town. However, the environments of these three planets are harsh and unsuitable for human survival; this is the responsibility of the scientists. Whether building ecological safe bases suitable for human habitation or completely transforming the alien environments, if humanity on Earth is destroyed one day, this small group on the alien planet will be the hope for the continuation of human civilization."
"2. Promote universal awakening. At the moment when human civilization must choose between submission or death, preserve as many seeds as possible, save as many lives as possible. Only by becoming an Awakened one can one 'attack if possible, submit if necessary.' I think if choosing submission allows one to survive, no one would fight desperately. Not submitting is only because the cost is too high—a cost so high that ninety-nine percent of ordinary people worldwide would become fuel for the Evil God."
Upon hearing these words, everyone in the conference room was visibly shaken.
In fact, everyone present had long clearly understood Yang Yi's stance; the Evil God's believers had tried to recruit Yang Yi several times, but she had refused each time. She had even destroyed altars several times, forging an irreconcilable deep grudge with the Evil God's believers for the sake of ordinary people.
In fact, if Yang Yi had chosen to submit to the Evil God's believers back then, her influence as the first Awakened one would have been unquestionable; perhaps the entire Awakened community would have wavered in its stance because of this.
But she did not choose submission; instead, she stood on the side of ordinary people, choosing to fight for the common masses. This was undoubtedly highly admirable. This was also the reason everyone present trusted her.
"3. The Betrayal Plan. In cases where it is truly impossible to protect ordinary people, Awakened ones inclined towards old humanity must choose to betray the old human group and submit to the Evil God."
"Buzz—" A sound rang out, and the conference room erupted into chaos; some cups were accidentally knocked over, some chairs were moved, and some documents in hand were accidentally torn.
These great figures lost their composure for the first time today.
Was she trying to leave herself a way out? Or had she already planned an escape route, simply waiting for the day the situation became clear to legitimately lead all Awakened ones to abandon ordinary people and defect to the Evil God's believers?
Yang Yi's expression did not change, as if she felt none of the shock and suspicion from the crowd. "Of course, I am not proposing this suggestion to abandon old humanity. If one day in the future, the situation becomes truly irretrievable, for the continuation of human civilization, sacrifices must be made—even if that sacrifice is myself, I would make the same choice."
The atmosphere in the room did not relax; everyone frowned, looking at Yang Yi with hesitation.
Yang Yi seemed unaware, continuing, "But I can make a commitment here: I will always advance and retreat with all of humanity. If one day, even with my utmost effort, I cannot resist the Evil God, after I have fought until my last breath, the Awakened ones of the Awakening Bureau and relevant departments must lead all Awakened ones to betray old humanity and immediately submit to the Evil God's believers."
"That is all; these are my three suggestions."
