Chapter 13
"Tang Yun!" Lin Xiyue exclaimed, the long whip wrapping around the wolf-shaped puppet's neck, pulling hard, and tearing its head off alive.
The intense pain stimulated Tang Yun's nerves, but a warm current surged from the bottom of his heart, flowing through his whole body. His right eye suddenly turned golden, as if it could see through all falsehoods. He saw that at the joints of each puppet, a peculiar rune was carved, flickering with a faint light.
"So that's it..." Tang Yun understood in his heart, these runes were the key to controlling the puppets' movements.
He deliberately slowed down his pace, luring a humanoid puppet to approach. Just as the puppet opened its bronze mouth to bite his throat, Tang Yun's tongue flicked, and a poison needle hidden under his tongue accurately stabbed into the puppet's control center.
The puppet's movements came to an abrupt end and it fell to the ground with a bang.
"What kind of move is this?" Lin Xiyue was dumbfounded.
Tang Yun didn't explain, and repeated the same trick, killing ten puppets one after another.
Just then, the surrounding environment suddenly changed. The long corridor disappeared, replaced by a dilapidated temple, exactly the place where Tang Yun lived in his childhood.
On the shrine lay his mother's cold corpse.
"Mother..." Tang Yun muttered to himself, his heart aching like a knife.
Three hundred puppets also changed, turning into the villagers who bullied him back then, one by one with ferocious faces, spitting out filthy language.
"Little bastard, your mother deserved to be bitten to death by a dog!"
"Wild child without father or mother, get out of the village!"
"You are a disaster star, you cursed your father to death, and then cursed your mother to death!"
The harsh sounds drilled into Tang Yun's brain like magic sounds, tearing his sanity apart.
"Shut up! All of you shut up!" Tang Yun held his head and roared in pain.
Lin Xiyue shouted anxiously: "Tang Yun, wake up! These are all hallucinations!"
Tang Yun couldn't hear any sound anymore, his consciousness gradually swallowed by darkness.
Just then, he bit the tip of his tongue hard, the intense pain allowing him to regain a trace of clarity.
"Nine Revolutions Mysterious Heaven Technique!" Tang Yun endured the severe pain and operated the True Qi in his body.
The golden True Qi erupted like a volcanic eruption, forming an indestructible shield around him, isolating all illusions and sounds.
"Break for me!" Tang Yun roared, the golden True Qi turning into a giant dragon, roaring and rushing toward the villager puppets.
The puppets were blown away one after another, turning into piles of scrap metal.
The dilapidated temple also collapsed, revealing the original corridor.
"Tang Yun!" Lin Xiyue hurriedly ran over and supported the swaying Tang Yun.
Tang Yun's face was pale, blood hanging from the corner of his mouth.
"I'm fine." He squeezed out a smile, "Let's continue walking."
The two continued to walk along the corridor, only to find a huge square appearing in front. In the center of the square stood a bronze giant tower towering into the clouds, the tower body carved with dense runes, emitting a heart-palpitating aura.
Suddenly, a roar came from the top of the tower, and a huge bronze giant dragon flew out from the top of the tower, circling in the air, looking down at Tang Yun and Lin Xiyue.
"It seems that the real test has just begun..." Tang Yun muttered to himself, a flash of excited light in his eyes.
Lin Xiyue held Tang Yun's hand tightly, worried in her heart.
"Tang Yun, can we really break through?"
Tang Yun took a deep breath, the light in his golden right eye gradually restrained.
"Scared?" Tang Yun's mouth hooked into a cold smile, and he said to Lin Xiyue.
Lin Xiyue held Tang Yun's hand tightly, her knuckles a bit white, but she still shook her head calmly: "Not scared, with you here."
Tang Yun held her hand back, gave her a reassuring look, and then turned his gaze to the bronze giant dragon circling in the air.
The giant dragon let out a sharp hiss, swooped down, and the huge dragon claws grabbed at Tang Yun with a sharp wind.
Tang Yun didn't dodge, the golden True Qi condensed into a long sword in his hand, slashing fiercely at the dragon claws.
"Clang!"
A deafening metal collision sound rang out, sparks flying. The giant dragon's claws were slashed open by Tang Yun with one sword, bronze fragments flying everywhere.
The giant dragon let out a painful wail, circled in the air a few times, and then swooped down again, this time opening its giant mouth and spraying a scorching flame.
Tang Yun pulled Lin Xiyue to dodge, the flame grazing his hem, leaving a scorched mark.
"This beast is quite powerful." Tang Yun licked his lips, a flash of excited light in his eyes.
Lin Xiyue asked worriedly: "Tang Yun, be careful."
Tang Yun nodded, condensed True Qi again, turning into countless golden flying swords, shooting at the bronze giant dragon like a rainstorm.
The giant dragon was hit by the flying swords, letting out bursts of wails, its body covered with dense wounds.
Just then, Tang Yun suddenly noticed that on the giant dragon's abdomen, there was a bronze plate of a slightly darker color, with some peculiar runes carved on it.
"Could it be..." Tang Yun's heart moved.
He condensed True Qi again, turning into a golden beam of light, shooting at that bronze plate.
The bronze plate shattered in response, revealing a pitch-black hole.
"Go!" Tang Yun pulled Lin Xiyue and jumped into the hole without hesitation.
The two passed through the hole and found themselves in a huge underground space.
Around the altar, three hundred puppets were arranged densely, including the humanoid puppets Tang Yun had killed before and that big yellow dog puppet.
"It seems that this is the core that controls the puppets." Tang Yun looked around, very vigilant.
Suddenly, his gaze fell on that big yellow dog puppet. For some reason, he always felt that this puppet looked familiar.
He walked to the big yellow dog puppet and observed it carefully.
Just then, he suddenly discovered that on the big yellow dog puppet's neck, half a wooden hairpin was inserted.
"This hairpin..." Tang Yun's pupils shrank, and a familiar memory surged into his heart.
He suddenly remembered that this hairpin was the one his mother liked most during her lifetime, and it disappeared on the night his mother passed away.
"Could it be..." Tang Yun's heart trembled, a terrible thought flashing through his mind.
Just then, a picture suddenly appeared in his mind.
On a pitch-black night, a ferocious big yellow dog was crazily tearing at his mother's corpse, and his mother used her last bit of strength to stab the dog's eye with the hairpin in her hand...
"Ah!" Tang Yun let out a painful roar, and he finally understood everything.
It turned out that his mother was not bitten to death by a dog back then, but killed by this big yellow dog puppet!
And the person who controlled this puppet was the Gu King standing on the altar!
A monstrous anger erupted from Tang Yun's heart, his eyes turning blood-red, and the golden light becoming even more dazzling.
Just then, the Medicine King jade pendant on his chest suddenly emitted a buzzing vibration, resonating with the heart-devouring Gu on the neck of his mother's puppet.
