Chapter 146

~7 min read 1,322 words

Tang Yun shrugged, looking relaxed and at ease: "Just passing through." He pointed at the severed-claw monster still struggling on the ground, "A small favor, no need for thanks."

Leng Yue looked the man in black up and down, her gaze falling on the strange pattern embroidered on his chest, and she frowned slightly.

She seemed to have seen this pattern somewhere before.

The man in black followed Leng Yue's gaze to his own chest, his eyes flickering for a moment before he quickly covered it up: "Many thanks to you both for saving me. I am Lin Feng. May I ask your honorable names?"

"Tang Yun."

"Leng Yue."

The two reported their names, and Lin Feng cupped his hands in thanks.

"Brother Tang, Miss Leng, I will keep today's kindness in my heart. If there is anything you need from me in the future, just say the word."

"You're too kind." Tang Yun waved his hand, "It was just a small favor." He paused and asked, "Brother Lin, what are you doing here..."

"Sigh," Lin Feng sighed.

"It's a long story. I was tracking a fleeing spirit beast, but I accidentally stumbled into the lair of these beasts." As he spoke, a flash of ruthlessness crossed his eyes.

"If it weren't for your help, I fear I would have lost my life here today."

Leng Yue suddenly spoke up: "Brother Lin, is the pattern on your chest, perhaps..."

Lin Feng's expression changed slightly, a hint of panic flashing in his eyes: "Miss Leng, do you recognize this pattern?"

Leng Yue did not answer directly, but instead asked: "Brother Lin, do you come from the 'Shadow'?"

As soon as the word "Shadow" was uttered, Lin Feng's expression changed drastically, and a murderous intent flashed in his eyes.

He took a sudden step back, pointing his long sword at Tang Yun and Leng Yue: "Who exactly are you people?"

The air instantly froze, and the atmosphere became tense and ready for battle.

Tang Yun raised an eyebrow, looking at Lin Feng with a half-smile: "What's this, Brother Lin? Are you planning to repay kindness with enmity?"

Lin Feng did not speak, but stared fixedly at Tang Yun and Leng Yue, the long sword in his hand trembling slightly.

"I'll ask you one more time," Leng Yue said coldly, "Do you come from the 'Shadow'?"

Lin Feng took a deep breath, knowing he could no longer hide it, and decided to drop the facade.

"Since you know about the 'Shadow,' I won't pretend anymore. That's right, I am from the 'Shadow'! You ruined my plans, so today, you can both stay here!"

Before the words had even faded, Lin Feng's figure flashed, turning into a black shadow as he lunged toward Tang Yun and Leng Yue.

"Seeking death!" Tang Yun snorted coldly, a flash of golden light appearing within his body as he instantly blocked Leng Yue's path.

"Clang!"

The golden light collided with the long sword, emitting a piercing metallic sound.

Lin Feng was shaken back several steps, a look of shock flashing in his eyes. He had not expected Tang Yun's strength to be so formidable.

"Leng Yue, you go deal with those beasts," Tang Yun said without looking back, "Leave this guy to me."

"Alright!" Leng Yue did not hesitate in the slightest, turning to charge toward the winged monsters.

Tang Yun and Lin Feng became locked in battle, their figures intertwining and sword light flashing; for a time, it was hard to determine a winner.

Although Lin Feng's strength was not weak, he was still a cut below Tang Yun. After a few exchanges, he was gradually falling into a disadvantage.

"Damn it!" Lin Feng cursed under his breath, knowing he was no match for Tang Yun, and thoughts of retreat began to form.

He feinted an attack and turned to flee.

"Want to run?" Tang Yun sneered, his figure flashing as he instantly blocked Lin Feng's path.

"You..." Lin Feng's expression changed drastically, a hint of despair flashing in his eyes.

Tang Yun didn't waste any words, throwing a punch that landed squarely on Lin Feng's chest.

"Pfft!"

Lin Feng spat out a mouthful of blood, flying backward and crashing heavily to the ground, his fate unknown.

Tang Yun clapped his hands and walked over to Lin Feng, preparing to check on his condition, when he suddenly felt a wave of dizziness.

He stumbled, nearly falling to the ground.

"Tang Yun!" Seeing this, Leng Yue hurried over to support him, "What's wrong with you?"

Tang Yun's face was pale, his forehead covered in cold sweat: "I... I'm fine..."

Before he could finish his sentence, his vision went black, and he fainted.

Leng Yue hurriedly held Tang Yun, calling out anxiously: "Tang Yun! Tang Yun! Wake up!"

The winged monsters around them had already been dealt with by Leng Yue, leaving only corpses covering the ground.

Leng Yue held the unconscious Tang Yun, her heart filled with worry and unease.

What exactly was going on? Why did Tang Yun suddenly faint?

Could it be the injuries left behind from the previous battle with the masked man?

Or was it because of this mysterious secret realm?

Leng Yue's heart was full of questions, but what she cared about most right now was Tang Yun's safety.

She looked around and discovered a cave not far away.

"I'll take Tang Yun to the cave to rest first," Leng Yue thought to herself.

She picked up Tang Yun and walked toward the cave.

The cave was cold and damp, with water droplets seeping from the walls and dripping onto the stone floor; the echoes reverberated in the empty cave, adding to the sense of desolation.

Leng Yue gently placed Tang Yun on a relatively flat stone, tore off a corner of her sleeve, and wiped the cold sweat from his forehead.

Tang Yun's face was pale as paper, his breathing weak, his brows tightly locked as if he were enduring great pain.

"Tang Yun..." Leng Yue called out softly, her voice trembling with helplessness.

She reached out a finger to check Tang Yun's breath; fortunately, he was still breathing.

Leng Yue felt slightly relieved, but also more anxious. She didn't know what was wrong with Tang Yun, nor how to help him.

Just then, footsteps came from the cave entrance. Leng Yue looked up vigilantly, gripping the dagger in her hand.

An elderly figure appeared at the entrance; it was Tianji Old Man.

"Senior Tianji!" Leng Yue called out in surprise, "How did you get here?"

Tianji Old Man did not answer, walking quickly to Tang Yun's side to check his condition with a grave expression.

"He's been poisoned," Tianji Old Man said in a deep voice after a long while, "And it's the rare Chaos Poison."

"Chaos Poison?" Leng Yue's expression changed drastically, "Then... what should we do?"

Tianji Old Man did not speak, looking up at the sky outside the cave, his eyes becoming deep and distant.

Leng Yue followed his gaze and saw that the previously clear sky had been covered by thick black clouds at some point.

Nine pitch-black pillars of light shot down from the clouds, connecting to a towering altar in the distance.

The altar radiated a heart-palpitating dark aura, as if a sleeping giant beast were about to awaken.

"What is that?" Leng Yue pointed at the altar, her voice filled with fear.

"The Evil God Seal..." Tianji Old Man murmured, "It's about to break..."

The viewers in the live stream room also saw this thrilling scene through the footage transmitted back by the drone.

"Holy crap! What's going on?"

"Is the end of the world coming?"

"Streamer, run!"

"These special effects are too realistic!"

"This can't be real, right?"

The barrage flew like snowflakes, filled with terror and unease.

Tianji Old Man withdrew his gaze and looked at Tang Yun again, his expression even more grave.
