Chapter 348: What Else to Play With, If Not Hands?

~7 min read 1,328 words

Jiang Lai waved goodbye to the master's wife and Uncle Deng, Ke Zhongyu stood by the car waiting for her, while Ke Zhongying had already gotten in, but she sat in the front passenger seat.

"Why did you sit up front?" Jiang Lai wondered.

Ke Zhongying leaned against the car window, giving her brother a helpless sideways glance: "I love the front passenger seat; it's great."

Jiang Lai looked at Ke Zhongyu.

Ke Zhongyu: "I didn't say anything."

Ke Zhongyu indeed hadn't said anything; it was Ke Zhongying who noticed it herself, although she hadn't been a third wheel much.

Before, she worried her brother would take advantage of Jiang Lai's sister; now they're a proper couple, so she should still avoid being a third wheel.

Ke Zhongying watched her brother quickly explain, burst out laughing, and rolled up the car window.

Ke Zhongyu took the opportunity to tattle: "She's wronging me."

A tall, big man, at this moment seeming to suffer a great injustice, earnestly told her he had been wronged; Jiang Lai really wanted to imitate how he once patted his own head, and also pat his head, saying not to be sad.

Of course she couldn't do that yet; she could only take his hand, squeeze his fingers, and softly say: "All right, get in."

"Mm." Ke Zhongyu let her go in first, then followed himself.

As soon as she sat down, the front partition slowly rose.

Ke Zhongyu: "Let's hit the road."

Jiang Lai: "Strange."

Suddenly it seemed only she and Ke Zhongyu were left in the car.

When they just got in the car, Ke Zhongyu hadn't let go, and now their hands were still clasped.

Ke Zhongyu even played with her fingers, lightly winding them around hers, pressing gently twice, sometimes interlocking all ten fingers, sometimes gripping her whole hand, enclosing it in his palm.

If he kept playing like that, Jiang Lai's composure would disappear.

"Ke Zhongyu."

"Huh?" The man lifted his gaze, calm as if the person constantly twining her fingers wasn't him at all.

Jiang Lai finally understood Ke Zhongying's comment about her brother being "quietly flirtatious."

"Don't play with it."

Ke Zhongyu chuckled lightly, steady: "Don't play with what?"

Jiang Lai swallowed: "Your hand, my hand."

Ke Zhongyu: "If not the hand, what then?"

Jiang Lai: "Do we have to play?"

Ke Zhongyu nodded: "Mm."

"Of course."

His girlfriend's hand was so soft, lying still and letting him play with it, even allowing him to hold it fully.

Although he wanted to do more than just hold her hand, he also wanted to hold other places.

For now he couldn't, so he could only use her hand to ease his craving.

Whenever he was alone with Jiang Lai in a private space, he couldn't control himself.

If Jiang Lai let him go on any longer, things would ignite, so she shifted to a proper topic: "Just now the master's wife told me not to be confined by my surname; the Jiang name is fine—I'm the first person on the Jiang family genealogy, and there will be disciples and children in the future."

"The master's wife is wise." Ke Zhongyu wholeheartedly agreed with Professor Wang's view; isn't it fine for Jiang Lai to be the one starting a new family genealogy?

"I have no opinion." He said, "I agree the children will take your surname."

Jiang Lai: "?"

Ke Zhongyu knew she understood, but she didn't dare think that far, so he repeated: "I agree our children will take your surname."

The proper topic was derailed again by Ke Zhongyu.

Jiang Lai's face flushed, she ordered him: "Don't speak."

Whenever he speaks, there's no propriety.

Who still looks proper and dignified in front?

This time Ke Zhongyu didn't immediately shut up; he said: "Unless you block my mouth."

Jiang Lai reached out with her other hand to cover his mouth.

Ke Zhongyu didn't expect such directness; he chuckled lightly, his lips brushing her palm.

Jiang Lai's palm felt hot; she instinctively pulled back her hand, but Ke Zhongyu caught it.

"You just said I wasn't gentle enough—was it too light or too heavy?"

"What's the difference?"

"There is." Ke Zhongyu gazed at her eyes, almost ablaze: "Tell me, was it too light or too heavy?"

Jiang Lai's breathing grew a little short: "Too heavy. Liking someone can't happen without a concrete reason; your reason is too vague—I want to know the specifics."

Actually she didn't really want to know that much; she just hoped this topic would let her and Ke Zhongyu calm down a bit.

There was a driver in the car, plus Chongying.

Ke Zhongyu countered: "What's your concrete reason?"

He had already seen it, but he insisted on hearing her say it herself.

As a result, Jiang Lai spoke the two words not on that paper: "Correct."

"Huh?" Ke Zhongyu said, slightly doubtful.

Jiang Lai gazed into the man's deep eyes; they were close, the car lights dim, but she felt Ke Zhongyu's eyes were bright, as if she could see her own reflection in them.

"You let me see the correct answer; being with you makes me happy, respected, liked. You always, after doing or saying something, make me suddenly realize—this is what's correct."

"You make me feel correct, like when I get right an experiment and obtain correct data; correct data drives industry development, and you, you've driven my life."

"Driving a person's life? Who exactly is speaking without restraint?"

Ke Zhongyu leaned in and kissed her.

"Mmm!"

Jiang Lai's hands were pressed to either side; behind her was the warm chair back, in front of her was the scorching body.

She was trapped in the middle, unable to move.

Her lips were forced open.

This kiss came with overwhelming force.

Soon her wrists were released, and Ke Zhongyu's hands shifted to grip her waist and chin.

Jiang Lai's hands were at a loss, forced to grab the chair, enduring the man's overwhelming kiss, like breaking bamboo.

"A Lai..."

He called her name, stammering: "Tonight, in front of the elders, I didn't dare say it, but my feelings for you are very secretive."

The kiss stopped.

He kissed Jiang Lai's eyes.

"Every time I kiss you, you don't breathe; holding your breath makes your eyes redden and mist up, just like now, as if you're about to cry."

"Every time you do this, I would..." He kissed Jiang Lai's earlobe; those words that couldn't pass review were heard only by her.

Jiang Lai had never seen such a scene.

After the rain, the magnolia encountered a great fire.

It wasn't burned, but it was scorched.

Jiang Lai's face reddened to the point of dripping blood; she quickly turned her head, her cheeks unexpectedly burying into the man's arm crook.

Ke Zhongyu took the opportunity to pull her fully into his embrace, kissing her hair and saying: "I've always worried about scaring you, and yet I still did—no wonder you say I'm heavy-handed."

"A Lai, I've had many chances to simply possess you, especially when I took you to the Chi Family Medical Clinic; there was a more efficient, quick solution."

Jiang Lai closed her eyes, listening quietly, her hands still gripping his cuffs, she murmured: "I know, but you didn't, you didn't take advantage of the situation."

"There are too many people around; if it were just me alone, no one could guarantee anything." Ke Zhongyu sighed, "You have no idea how much self-control it takes for me to blindfold your eyes with my tie."

Jiang Lai's heart fluttered slightly: "How much..."

Ke Zhongyu: "With my whole life."

Jiang Lai's heart still raced: "So you like this."

Ke Zhongyu: "Which?"

Jiang Lai remained silent again.

After a few seconds, she said: "Ke Zhongyu, not now, not here either."

"Shh." Ke Zhongyu, his mind in turmoil, said: "Don't tempt me."

"Not here, where then?" He finally couldn't hold back, still being led astray into confusion.
