Chapter 481: See What Fate Awaits Those Who Have Hurt Me
In the dead of night, Ke Zhongyu was woken by a phone call; as he sat up, Jiang Lai in his arms also slowly opened her eyes and sat up.
"You not asleep?" Ke Zhongyu brushed his slightly messy hair, answered the call, and the person on the other side said Gu Yinxue had been found.
After hanging up, Ke Zhongyu saw Jiang Lai already out of bed, having put on her coat, staring at him with her eyes open.
Ke Zhongyu got out of bed, patted Jiang Lai's head, and said: "The person has been found; we're going over now."
Jiang Lai took his hand and left the hotel room; the neighboring door also opened, revealing Gu Zhiyan.
Having guessed that Gu Yinxue would likely head south toward the border, they did not return to B City but stayed at a local hotel, waiting for news of her hiding place.
Upon hearing the news, of course they had to rush over; as the son, Gu Zhiyan's biological parents were in the criminals' hands, so it was only natural for him to go, but Jiang Lai and Ke Zhongyu……
Although Jiang Lai had returned to the Gu household and addressed the uncles and aunts, she had never called them Mom and Dad or older brother.
Gu Zhiyan saw Jiang Lai heading out and was somewhat surprised; he wanted to say something but didn't.
The three each got into their cars, and Ke Zhongyu sent a message to Chi Ce, telling him to come over.
Afterward, the two cars drove toward the abandoned factory in the suburbs while listening to news coming from there.
Gu Yinxue drove the car into several police officers, but ultimately could not escape the large contingent of police that had rushed to surround them; the other side was currently holding hostages in negotiation.
The hostage was Song Shiwei.
Gu Sen was nowhere to be seen.
When the three arrived, a cold wind blew; in the silent night, leaves rustled, and from not far away the abandoned factory emitted creaking sounds, as if it might sway and collapse.
Ke Zhongyu turned his body to shield Jiang Lai from the wind and sand, put his arm around her waist, and looked again at Gu Yinxue and the others blocked by the police; under the bright floodlights there was nowhere to hide.
A mud-colored truck of indeterminate hue, a burly foreign man pressed a sharp dagger against Song Shiwei's neck.
Gu Yinxue stood to the side; at first she was looking at the police captain, but upon seeing Gu Zhiyan she shouted: "I told you, if you alert the police I can take one hostage for each!"
"You don't care about my life, what about my mother's!" Gu Yinxue raised the dagger, pressing it to Song Shiwei's heart area, "The carotid artery on the neck and the heart's position—you have zero certainty now!"
The police officers frowned; this was indeed difficult, especially since another hostage's whereabouts were unknown, and they currently didn't know where that person was.
Gu Zhiyan looked at his mother; he was also anxious, but even more so because his father's figure was missing.
"Gu Yinxue! Where's Dad?!"
Gu Sen had already been knocked unconscious by Lu Si in the trunk; this was Gu Yinxue's hidden leverage.
"Let us go! I want to go to the dock, I want a boat! As long as we leave safely, before crossing the border I'll return the hostages to you and tell you where your father is." Gu Yinxue pressed the fruit knife a little harder into Song Shiwei's chest, the tip causing her chest to ache.
Song Shiwei kept making eye signals to her son, kept shaking her head, kept pleading for help.
She did not want to die.
Gu Zhiyan frowned, looking at Jiang Lai and Ke Zhongyu; Gu Yinxue also looked at the two.
Gu Yinxue suddenly chuckled: "Jiang Lai, you're here too—are you here for Mom? Probably not; you must be here for Dad. I know you don't care about the person who abandoned you, but what about Dad? Have Ke Zhongyu prepare a boat for me; if I leave safely I'll return your father to you."
"You can't threaten me." Jiang Lai said.
Gu Yinxue laughed even more wantonly; the next second her smile vanished instantly, and a gloomy stare fixed on Jiang Lai's face: "Then why are you showing up here?"
Jiang Lai: "I came to see what fate awaits those who have harmed me."
Gu Yinxue's expression stiffened slightly.
Among those present, aside from Ke Zhongyu and the police, everyone had harmed Jiang Lai.
Mother abandoned Jiang Lai; Father back then had not firmly chosen Jiang Lai; older brother had once insulted Jiang Lai; and she was even worse, having instigated Lin Shutong to murder Jiang Lai.
Lu Si reminded Gu Yinxue: "Don't stall; get a boat, right now, immediately."
His dagger again nicked a bit of Song Shiwei's neck, adding injury to injury, and blood flowed once more.
Song Shiwei's legs went weak; she desperately gestured for them to agree.
Gu Yinxue: "I want a boat! I want to leave safely!"
With reddened eyes she shoved the fruit knife's tip into Song Shiwei's flesh—not deep, but for Song Shiwei it was a dual pain of body and mind.
This is the daughter she had loved for over twenty years.
Plotting against Jiang Lai, framing the brother, kidnapping the parents.
Song Shiwei's throat was almost smoking, yet she could not make a sound no matter what; this voiceless pain brought extreme suffocation and anguish.
Her body was about to go limp; Lu Si easily lifted her like a toy, the dagger blade sliding back and forth across her neck.
Pain.
So painful, so painful.
The sides were at a stalemate; Lu Si, sharp-eared, seemed to hear the police saying something into the mic, realizing there might be a sniper, so he lifted Song Shiwei up again, using her as a human shield.
The lead police officer frowned, then calmly agreed—but on the condition that they know where the other hostage is.
The police forces retreated backward, as if making a concession.
Gu Yinxue said: "You've got it backwards—give us the boat, and then I'll tell you where the person is!"
The police had someone prepare a boat, and Ke Zhongyu spoke slowly: "I'll prepare the boat."
Lu Si told Gu Yinxue: "We need a speedboat."
Gu Yinxue repeated that to Ke Zhongyu to hear.
Ke Zhongyu called to have a speedboat readied at the nearby dock; it was ready in no time.
Lu Si pressed Song Shiwei back into the car, Gu Yinxue again took the driver's seat, turned on the high beams, and set off for the dock.
Gu Zhiyan was anxious to the point of being unable to bear it.
Jiang Lai watched Gu Yinxue's car head toward the dock; along the route the vehicle left drips of blood.
A police officer crouched to look and said aloud: "Gu Sen is in the trunk, injured."
The group followed after.
From the abandoned factory to the windy dock, Lu Si told Gu Yinxue: "Our contact will reach the international waters soon and will meet us there."
Gu Yinxue swallowed and said: "Okay."
Lu Si threw the frightened, limp Song Shiwei to Gu Yinxue to hold hostage, then he went to the trunk and hoisted the unconscious, bleeding Gu Sen onto his shoulder.
The speedboat was already ready.
Gu Yinxue and Lu Si took only the two hostages aboard the speedboat; no one else was allowed to approach.
Lu Si tied Gu Sen to the speedboat, so the police dared not act rashly; he inspected the speedboat and fuel tank, and found nothing wrong.
He nodded at Gu Yinxue, signaling her to watch the hostages, then he went to drive the speedboat.
A heavy rain began at sea.
Gu Yinxue frowned at the sky, her heart full of unease and tension; not long after they set off in the speedboat, the police on the dock also boarded speedboats one after another, pursuing them.
"Lu Si, hurry up."
"I know."
Lu Si operated the speedboat, racing through wind and rain at sea, and the rain woke Gu Sen.
Ke Zhongyu and Jiang Lai were on the yacht, with Gu Zhiyan along; he stepped forward and asked, "Ke Zhongyu, given what I know of you, the speedboat having no problem is actually the biggest problem, right?"
Jiang Lai also looked at Ke Zhongyu.
Ke Zhongyu, impatient with talking to Gu Zhiyan, simply did not answer the question.
Gu Zhiyan was not annoyed either; he only asked him, "Are you confident?"
Once again receiving no answer, Gu Zhiyan placed his hope on Jiang Lai, softly saying, "Jiang Lai, ask him if he's confident."
"I won't ask." Jiang Lai replied, "It's you who doesn't trust him, not me."
Gu Zhiyan's throat tightened; he looked sadly at Jiang Lai and said, "Don't you worry at all about your father's safety?"
