Chapter 13: President Fu Also Knows Wanwan?

~6 min read 1,016 words

In the upstairs room, under Lu Xiwán's soothing, Yao Yao, who was nestled in her arms, finally agreed to let the Private Doctor approach and give him a simple wound treatment.

After the doctor left, Xi Xi squatted beside Fu Yao, carefully pursing her lips as she blew on the wound on his palm, and Fu Yao felt a warm feeling in his heart.

"Brother Yao Yao, the doctor said you can't get wet for a few days, so from now on let Xi Xi wash your face and brush your teeth," Xi Xi volunteered, patting her chest with a child‑like adult demeanor, "I promise to take good care of you."

Fu Yao couldn't help but pinch her soft, doughy face, saying, "Next time don't rush in front of that wicked woman; I'm a man, I should protect Xi Xi, not be protected by Xi Xi!"

Xi Xi thought for a moment and didn't object: "Fine, then Brother Yao Yao is in charge of protecting Xi Xi, and Xi Xi is in charge of taking care of Brother Yao Yao!"

The two little ones exchanged an understanding smile, reaching a consensus.

Lu Xiwán watched the two youngsters' interaction with amusement and placed a light kiss on Fu Yao's forehead, "Thank you, Yao Yao, for being willing to help Auntie look after Xi Xi; you're very brave."

"Mommy, Xi Xi also wants a kiss."

Standing outside the door watching the adult and the two kids making a ruckus, Fu Sijue inexplicably felt a hard spot in his heart slowly melting.

It seems that inviting Xi Wan to treat Yao Yao was the right move; Yao Yao has truly improved a lot.

If she were still here, they would also have their own child, a happy family of three; it's been five years, Lu Xiwán, where have you gone?

The phone rang, cutting off the room's laughter; Lu Xiwán saw the caller ID was Luo Zhou, smoothed her hair, stepped out of the room, and the hallway was already empty.

"Are you free tomorrow night?"

Luo Zhou's voice on the other end sounded a bit dull, "I have something I'd like to ask you to help with."

Lu Xiwán was stunned; she rarely heard a friend speak in that tone, so she must have run into something. Without a second thought she replied, "What is it?"

"I'll tell you in person."

……

The restaurant was set at a quiet Chinese banquet hall; Lu Xiwán drove there with Xi Xi and Fu Yao, and perhaps because he rarely goes out, Fu Yao behaved very restrained.

"Brother Yao Yao, Uncle Luo Zhou is a good person; he really likes kids."

Xi Xi kept comforting him from the side, tightly holding Fu Yao's hand, which eased the little one's emotions a bit.

The venue had separate private rooms; Luo Zhou worried they might not find it, so he simply waited at the elevator entrance, waiting for Lu Xiwán to bring the children up from the garage, planning to go into the private room together.

But he didn't expect to run into an "acquaintance" here.

"President Fu, what a coincidence you're also dining here?"

Luo Zhou glanced at the man walking over nearby, feeling something was off, and coincidentally the elevator doors opened at the same time.

Lu Xiwán appeared within view, holding a child in one hand.

"Do you know each other?"

Fu Sijue glanced at Xi Xi, who had always kept her distance, and eagerly jumped into Luo Zhou's arms, feeling a few lifelong pangs of irritation.

He looked again at his own son holding Lu Xiwán's hand, and seeing his father being ignored, he loosened his tie, trying to ease the tightness in his chest.

Luo Zhou spoke up before Lu Xiwán could, explaining, "Wanwan once treated my family's master; after this back-and-forth we became friends, but I didn't expect such a coincidence that President Fu now also knows Wanwan."

"Now" seemed deliberately said, especially the address "Wanwan," which made Fu Sijue feel inexplicably angry.

Suppressing a hint of irritation, he discreetly glanced at the silent woman beside him and said, "Since it's such a coincidence, why not have a meal together?"

Without waiting for a refusal, Fu Sijue's gaze fell heavily on Lu Xiwán and said, "Yao Yao rarely goes out, and I feel uneasy."

……

Inside the private room, the atmosphere was unusually quiet because of Fu Sijue's presence.

Only Xi Xi didn't seem uncomfortable at all.

"Uncle Luo Zhou, let me introduce you."

Xi Xi tugged Luo Zhou's large hand, leading him to Fu Yao's side, "This is Brother Yao Yao; he's my best friend, as good as Cat Brother, only he's currently ill, but he'll recover soon."

Luo Zhou glanced at Fu Yao, squatted down, and said, "Hello, little one."

Fu Yao ignored him, not even giving him a glance.

"Who is the little one?"

Fu Yao felt restless inside; ever since entering, little sister Xi Xi had been stuck with this annoying person, which was far from making him happy!

Luo Zhou smiled gently, seemingly not caring about being ignored.

He lifted his gaze to the equally composed Fu Sijue; the two father and son really did look alike.

After the meal, everyone except Xi Xi harbored their own thoughts.

Because Fu Sijue was present, Luo Zhou couldn't bring up his purpose for seeking Lu Xiwán; after a simple meal, when they dispersed, he learned that Lu Xiwán now lives at the Fu residence with Xi Xi.

A faint ambiguous expression crossed his eyes, but wary of Fu Sijue's presence, he still didn't speak.

Lu Xiwán still remembered she hadn't discussed the proper business with Luo Zhou; just as she was about to speak, Fu Sijue interrupted:

"I've already had the driver send your car back; my car is in B2, and I'm waiting for you with the children in it."

Lu Xiwán had a little to drink, so of course she couldn't drive back.

When Fu Sijue walked away with the two little ones, Luo Zhou finally spoke, "Wanwan, you never told me…"
