Chapter 152: How Did You Come?

~4 min read 630 words

The news of Lord Luo falling ill quickly dominated the headlines of all media in Haicheng and spread at an uncontrollable speed.

Some reporters even rushed to the hospital; fortunately, Luo Zhou was still there keeping watch.

The moment she saw the news, Lu Xiwán immediately contacted Luo Zhou.

"What on earth is happening? I sealed off the scene as soon as I could."

Luo Zhou remained silent, and Lu Xiwán clearly heard Lord Luo's voice.

"How are there so many people outside?"

"It's fine, I'll step out for a moment," Luo Zhou whispered, then hung up.

Lu Xiwán instantly covered her mouth, straining not to make a sound.

Until she heard a clack as the door shut, Lu Xiwán then heard Luo Zhou speak.

"We're investigating now; you don't need to worry. I'm taking care of grandpa here. For the time being, don't come over; I'll take grandpa to a sanatorium for a while."

Lu Xiwán knew Luo Zhou was already agitated, so she readily agreed.

All she could do was not add to Luo Zhou's trouble.

It suddenly began to rain outside; the nanny hurried out, and only returned after a long while, cradling two large flower pots.

The nanny wiped the rain from her face and gave Lu Xiwán an apologetic smile.

"The young master and Miss Xi Xi planted those flowers the day before yesterday; they're very rare and would die if left outside."

The nanny's plain explanation moved Lu Xiwán a little.

She quickly handed her a towel.

"They're not unreasonable; taking care of your own health is most important," Lu Xiwán said with a faint smile.

The nanny smiled brightly, but her expression changed in an instant; panicked, she tried to go out again, only to be stopped abruptly by Lu Xiwán.

"President Fu didn't bring an umbrella, and there's apparently an outdoor event today. I'll rush to deliver one so as not to delay President Fu's important matters."

The nanny wore a worried expression, and Lu Xiwán glanced outside.

This rain doesn't seem to stop anytime soon, and she didn't know whether Shen Shu had an umbrella…

"How about this: I'll drive over to deliver it; you stay put. If you take a taxi, you won't know when you'll arrive."

Lu Xiwán readily agreed, then hurried upstairs to fetch her coat.

"How can I trouble you like this? If President Fu finds out, he'll blame me for being inconsiderate…" The nanny spun anxiously, and Lu Xiwán pressed her down.

"I'll explain to him; just remember to pick up Yao Yao and Xi Xi on time."

Having said that, Lu Xiwán threw on her coat and left.

Rain hammered against the car window, producing a heavy, muffled thud, and the air inside the vehicle felt oppressively stale.

There were more cars on the road than usual; even a short walk would get stuck in traffic for a while.

Lu Xiwán spent a full hour before arriving at the Fu Clan.

The rain hadn't stopped, and Lu Xiwán dared not delay; after briefing the receptionist, she rushed upstairs.

Shen Shu was also startled when Lu Xiwán burst in hurriedly.

"The nanny said President Fu has an event to attend today; I'm here to deliver the umbrella. Please give it to President Fu."

Without waiting for a response, Lu Xiwán thrust the umbrella into Shen Shu's hand and turned to leave.

The office door opened, and Fu Sijue was startled to see Lu Xiwán standing outside.

He then walked straight over, grabbed her wrist, and pulled her inside.

Fu Sijue's expression turned sour as he looked at Lu Xiwán, whose hair was drenched from her hasty run.

Her skirt was speckled with mud, making her look utterly disheveled.

"Why did you come?" his tone carried reproach.
