Chapter 17: A Hand Clutching Her Throat
"You intercepted people from Luo Prefecture just to get them into the hospital?"
When Lu Xiwán heard that Xi Xi had been taken to the hospital, her heart nearly shattered; she had cherished the child for three years as if it were a treasure, and now it had been ruined like this. No one could bear it, especially since it happened at the hands of the child's own father.
"I'm going to a meeting…" Fu Sijue panicked, not only because of Lu Xiwán's anger but also out of worry for the child.
Lu Xiwán let out a cold laugh, "Mr. Fu, work is that important to you—more important than your own child?"
It's been five years, and Fu Sijue truly hasn't changed at all—work is always first, Gu Qingmeng second, and everything else is irrelevant!
"I will give you an answer," Fu Sijue replied in a low voice. The child was injured in his company; how could he possibly ignore it?
Lu Xiwán snorted again; although she only had a rough idea of the whole affair, knowing that the two children were involved in an incident inside Fu Company led her to guess that this was most likely tied to Gu Qingmeng.
Anything linked to Gu Qingmeng—what explanation could Fu Sijue give her? When she was once captured by kidnappers, wasn't he just standing by Gu Qingmeng, neglecting her?
Fu Sijue met Lu Xiwán's mocking gaze, and somehow his heart tightened.
At that moment, Fu Sijue's phone rang.
The voice on the other end of the call came through crystal clear, and Fu Sijue's expression gradually cooled.
Lu Xiwán could only catch a vague sound from the other side, yet the name Gu Qingmeng stood out sharply in that sentence.
A cold smile curled at the corner of her mouth as she stared steadily at Fu Sijue, waiting for his explanation.
Fu Sijue's icy gaze fixed on the ICU door.
"Just now Shen Shu checked the company surveillance; during that time, only Gu Qingmeng entered…"
The facts lay out crystal clear before them, and they couldn't help but believe it.
Lu Xiwán finally let out a sigh of relief; at least he hadn't concealed anything.
"Mr. Fu, today two were taken to the hospital—one is my child, the other my patient. Of course Fu Yao is your child first, but I hope you understand that Fu Yao only appears stable; his mind remains as fragile as a thread. By letting Miss Gu bounce on that thread, his collapse is inevitable."
At that moment, the emergency room doors opened, and the attending physician removed his mask, walking up to the two of them.
"Mr. Fu, the young master is out of danger now, but his emotional fluctuations are significant; for now he can only be steadied with a sedative. I recommend you promptly take the child to a professional Psychologist for treatment—psychological issues aren't a trivial matter…"
Lu Xiwán: Would anyone believe I'm a Hypnosis Master doctor now?
She followed the medical staff to transfer Fu Yao into the ward, standing outside the room and watching his pale little face inside, her emotions tangled and hard to read.
Fu Sijue approached, still smelling of lingering smoke, gently clasped her wrist, and said, "I know saying anything now is meaningless; come with me to the Gu Family."
Lu Xiwán reflexively tried to shake off his hand, but the pressure on her wrist suddenly increased, "I can't get involved in your family's matters; if Mr. Fu wants to settle accounts, he should do it himself."
Moving into the Fu family was already an extraordinary exception; Lu Xiwán didn't want any further entanglements with those people.
"You're Fu Yao's Hypnotist; you'd be more persuasive," Fu Sijue pulled Lu Xiwán outward, leaving no room for objection.
Lu Xiwán thought of Xi Xi lying on the hospital bed, her forehead wrapped in gauze, and, heat rising in her mind, she hurriedly kept pace.
