Chapter 199: Like Old Friends at First Sight
Suddenly biting into such a big melon, Lu Xiwán's mouth formed an O shape.
"What about Yun Ruojin's mother? She can't already be dead, can she?" Lu Xiwán's gossip‑driven curiosity began to flare up.
Then Fu Sijue shook his head again, "Yun Ruojin's mother disappeared a year ago; no one knows where she went."
Lu Xiwán nodded thoughtfully, and a moment later thought of something else.
"Yun Ruofeng and Yun Ruojin have a good relationship?"
Otherwise Yun Ruofeng wouldn't have risked it like this to help Yun Ruojin.
"Yun Ruojin was taken in when she was very young, so few outside know her status as an illegitimate daughter; Yun Ruofeng is also very kind to her."
Whether it's genuine or not, they certainly gave Yun Ruojin face in front of outsiders, and the two looked like a real family.
Lu Xiwán stroked her chin, "That explains it; no wonder Yun Ruofeng would even sacrifice his own reputation to help Yun Ruojin."
She didn't think that was a good thing at all.
If Yun Ruojin wants to harm her, Yun Ruofeng helping Yun Ruojin is, roughly speaking, another formidable opponent for her.
Lu Xiwán suddenly felt on the verge of tears but couldn't cry.
She hadn't done anything, yet suddenly she had so many rivals.
"You really have nothing you want to tell me?"
Fu Sijue had thought Lu Xiwán had said enough and that she would now spill the rest.
But Lu Xiwán shut her mouth, showing no intention of continuing.
"Huh? I just simply wanted to ask about Yun Ruofeng's whereabouts; we can handle the rest ourselves."
Fu Sijue's eyes hardened, his attention fixed on the word "we."
"Yun Ruofeng is hard to deal with." Fu Sijue barely managed to suppress the jealousy bubbling inside.
Lu Xiwán was again nonchalant, "How many Yun Family members are easy to handle? I don't intend to get in touch with Yun Ruofeng."
That sentence blocked Fu Sijue's next words; he was momentarily at a loss for a reply.
"Then what do you plan to do?"
"We'll stick to the original plan—clarify things as needed. Yun Ruofeng can't come all the way from the United States just for Yun Ruojin; if the matter blows up, it won't be good for anyone."
Lu Xiwán had also learned Yun Ruojin's approach.
As long as she is brazen enough, the Yun siblings can't do anything to her.
Impressed by Lu Xiwán's reasoning, Fu Sijue said nothing the whole way.
Watching Fu Sijue arrive, Xi Xi was even happier than Yao Yao, leaping about, pouring water and handing out snacks.
Yao Yao, on the other hand, remained very calm.
When it was time to leave, Xi Xi hurried to the window and looked outside.
"It's already so late today; Uncle Fu driving back alone isn't safe. Why don't you stay at my place first?"
Xi Xi made the decision for Lu Xiwán on her own, then proudly tilted her head toward Lu Xiwán, looking for praise.
Yao Yao chimed in, "There are only two rooms at home; little sister Xi Xi and I sleep in the kids' room, and dad can share the master bedroom with mom."
Xi Xi pretended to feel regret, shaking her head, "But a lone man and woman sharing a room isn't ideal… There's no other option now; we can't have Uncle Fu sleep on the sofa, right? Summer nights can be quite cold…"
The two little rascals cleverly blocked every escape route for Lu Xiwán.
