Chapter 23: Impulse
Fu Sijue's questioning tone made Lu Xiwán very uncomfortable.
"Luozhou and I have nothing to do with each other, so I won't trouble Mr. Fu with it. As a patient's family member, you don't need to pry into my private life. Yao Yao had a lot of fun today, which helps his psychological recovery."
Lu Xiwán really wants to ask Fu Sijue whether he lives by the sea; why is he being so overbearing?
Even a census wouldn't check that much.
"Sijue, look at her like that—what if she corrupts Yao Yao?" Gu Qingmeng suddenly grabbed Fu Sijue's sleeve; tears welled up instantly, and her tearful, sobbing look made anyone feel uneasy.
Fu Sijue stared at Gu Qingmeng for a few seconds and said, "It's fine that you still remember Yao Yao is your child; why is he so afraid of you?"
After saying that, Fu Sijue also went in, leaving Gu Qingmeng alone, standing resentfully in place.
Lu Xiwán, as if nothing were wrong, kept playing with the child, completely ignoring the entering Fu Sijue.
It was the first time Fu Sijue felt such total disregard from others, and he was naturally displeased.
"Your records state that you are still single."
That was just looking for something to say; Lu Xiwán looked up at Fu Sijue.
When did he start gossiping? And caring so much about others' relationship status?
"Mr. Fu, just say whatever you want—were you single back then, and now you can't date?" The remark was choking; Fu Sijue's face turned an instant iron blue.
Gu Qingmeng, upon entering, saw the two's situation and couldn't help feeling secretly delighted.
It was a good opportunity for her.
"Taking two children on a date would affect the children," Fu Sijue managed to choke out after a long pause.
"You've seen Yao Yao's condition; he's happy playing outside today, that's enough. Mr. Fu, does being Yao Yao's psychologist require you to be single?"
Lu Xiwán's words carried a sarcastic tone, and her gaze held a hint of mockery.
Her previous assumption was still wrong; Fu Sijue's changes over the past few years have been great, and now he oddly loves meddling in others' affairs.
"Think clearly about your current role! You're just someone who looks after our Yao Yao, how dare you speak to us like that?" Gu Qingmeng bounced around more lively than a spring; wherever Fu Sijue appeared, there was always room for her to interject.
Repeating the same line becomes meaningless; after Lu Xiwán explained too much and found it pointless, she simply ignored them.
"Wanwan, your clothes are in my car..." Luozhou, just as he entered, sensed the atmosphere in the Living Room was uneasy.
But it was already too late; Gu Qingmeng's smile grew even more brazen.
"Look, she even brings a partner to our house when she dates. I really can't trust leaving someone like that near Yao Yao! Sijue, this is our child!"
Gu Qingmeng's pride, seen through Lu Xiwán's eyes, was merely the glee of a petty person.
She still couldn't hide anything, just like before.
Luozhou's smile froze; should he now speak up to explain?
"Mr. Fu, I recall being very clear when we first met: I don't like having excessive contact with my patients' family members, and my private matters shouldn't have much to do with you."
What Lu Xiwán liked most about Fu Sijue back then were his eyes, as if they could see straight into someone's thoughts; they were always cold and distant, like a thin layer of ice.
