Chapter 31: Entangling Relationships in a Dream
Fu Sijue, just as he stepped inside, had his hand warmly taken by Gu Qingmeng.
"Xie Zian, you only managed to come here once with such effort, so today you must eat and drink well; these were specially prepared for you, your favorite dishes."
Despite the dazzling array of delicacies before him, Xie Zian couldn't muster any appetite; his mind was plagued by the matter of someone resembling Lu Xiwán.
"Xi Xi, little sister, this is the Uncle Xie I told you about earlier; the idea for the two of us to send flowers last time came from him!"
Fu Yao, as if a talk box had been opened, gave a lengthy introduction to Lu Xixi.
But that sentence successfully lit a fuse on the dining table.
"Was that flower placed by the two of you?" they asked almost in unison, then simultaneously glanced at each other.
It seemed the misunderstanding was huge; Lu Xiwán wore a blank expression, though inside she was already in a panic.
Fortunately she hadn't spoken a question yet, so she wouldn't make herself overly embarrassed.
Fu Sijue was different; the people had already been discarded, and only now did he learn the truth, so his heart was naturally angry.
The two kids were frightened, standing dumb and not daring to speak.
Gu Qingmeng was still clueless about what it meant, when Fu Sijue again pointed the spear at Xie Zian.
"What kind of crazy idea did you give the two kids?"
Seeing a Red Rose, a symbol of love, on his own bed in the middle of the night would make anyone imagine things; he shouldn't be the only one who guessed wrong, right?
Fu Sijue pondered silently, thinking that Xi Wan's earlier reaction must have been a misinterpretation as well, making the matter less awkward.
"It was Uncle Xie who told me that giving a girl a Red Rose is appropriate; I thought giving it only to Mom might be a bit odd, so I ordered two bouquets…"
Fu Yao and Xi Xi, under the questioning gazes of the two, lowered their heads sheepishly and obediently admitted fault.
Thus everyone's attention shifted back to Xie Zian.
He truly is Haicheng's most trouble‑making person, even deceiving the two kids; it makes one want to pull one's hair out.
"I think you really want to go abroad." Fu Sijue, expressionless, resolved to retrieve the people he had discarded.
The chief culprit, Xie Zian, naturally became the first choice.
Xie Zian wore a look of grievance, "When Yao Yao from your family called, the first thing he asked was what flower I should give a girl; of course I said Red Rose. Who knew it was for Xi Wan?"
Had he known this was a murky affair from the start, Xie Zian would not have given Fu Yao any advice.
Now, on the contrary, Xie Zian is like a mute eating bitter herb, unable to voice his suffering.
Lu Xiwán vaguely felt that her own little cabbage seemed inclined to learn from Xie Zian, the pig who can skillfully push cabbage, and this tendency must be cut off as soon as it sprouts.
"What exactly did you do while I wasn't paying attention?"
Gu Qingmeng felt as if everyone else was awake while she alone was drunk; the people at the table babbled for ages like a mute riddle, and she couldn't grasp any clue.
"Miss Gu, just mind your own business; don't ask what you shouldn't."
Lu Xiwán added a huge chunk of fatty meat into Gu Qingmeng's bowl, her face still bearing a serene smile.
"I don't eat fatty meat!" Gu Qingmeng, as if provoked, grabbed the bowl and leapt up, shedding any pretended genteel lady demeanor.
……
Who is Xie Zian? How could he possibly be satisfied? After pestering Fu Sijue for several days, he finally learned that Xi Wan was introduced by Si Jiuyin.
