Chapter 329: Not Like Dating
Lilian's lips went pale; clearly, Xie Zian's words had struck a nerve.
She stood up, "Alright, I won't scheme against you anymore, but for the peace of our two families, you'll have to put up with me for a while."
As she turned, a flash of cleverness crossed Lilian's eyes, and the corners of her mouth curled upward.
One Day passed, Lu Xixi gained nothing, helplessly flopped onto the bed, and let out a mournful cry to the sky.
"Mom, why is this so hard?"
No matter how much Lu Xixi pleaded, Xie Zian still refused to relent.
Lu Xiwan gently patted Lu Xixi, "Earning candy isn't that easy."
"Just kidding—if we hadn't calculated beforehand that Lu Xixi couldn't possibly win, how could he and Fu Sijue feel comfortable betting so much candy?"
Lu Xixi looked hopefully at Lu Xiwan, then, disappointed, climbed to her feet and earnestly cheered herself on.
"It's fine, even if Xi Xi loses, Yao Yao gege might still win!"
Yao Yao had no interest in candy, "If I win, I'll give all the candy to little sister Xi Xi."
Lu Xiwan gave a light cough, reminding the two milk buns.
"Yao Yao, you previously promised Mom you wouldn't give Xi Xi candy."
Xi Xi tilted her head, troubled, "But this is candy Yao Yao gege won from a bet, and I promise not to eat too much!"
After Lu Xixi's repeated assurances, Lu Xiwan half-believed her.
As Lilian said, she not only stopped seeking Xie Zian, but also hid in her room for several days without going out.
Lu Xiwan poked Xie Zian, "Go up and check."
Xie Zian raised an eyebrow, "Why should I go?"
Lu Xiwan shrugged, "The person was sent by Aunt Xie; if something happened, I couldn't explain to Aunt Xie."
Xie Zian glanced at Fu Sijue, who exemplified the virtue of a wife following her husband, fully agreeing with Lu Xiwan's approach.
He let out a sigh, resignedly stepped upstairs, but merely stood outside Lilian's room for a long time, feeling too embarrassed to actually knock.
The door suddenly opened, and Lilian stood in the doorway, astonished, looking at Xie Zian.
"I haven't been looking for you these days, have I? This time, Mr. Xie can't blame everything on me—you came to me on your own."
Xie Zian gritted his teeth, regretting his earlier actions.
He shouldn't have come up under Lu Xiwan's pressure.
How could Lilian's articulate demeanor look like she's about to get into trouble?
"If I weren't worried something might happen to you, I wouldn't have come up."
Lilian nodded, "Mr. Xie, put your mind at ease—I won't harm myself over someone insignificant."
After speaking, she still had a hidden meaning, gazing deeply at Xie Zian.
"I wasn't worried about you! It was Lu Xiwan..."
"What's the rush, Mr. Xie?"
The more anxious Xie Zian became, the calmer Lilian remained, subtly using her body to block his gaze from looking inside.
"Although this is Mr. Xie's territory, the things inside are my personal belongings; I'm not used to letting others pry into my privacy."
Xie Zian felt as if he'd been sharply pricked by a needle; Lilian's words, inside and out, blamed him, making him quite displeased.
"My mother entrusted you to me; if something happens to you on my turf, my mother won't let me off either."
