Chapter 35: Miss Gu

~3 min read 583 words

Gu Qingmeng kept repeating that one sentence, and with her hysterical wailing, no one would doubt it.

Fu Sijue slightly furrowed his brows.

"Xi Wan has no reason to do this."

"At this point, you still want to protect someone we barely know? Could a mere Psychologist be more important than Yao Yao?"

Gu Qingmeng suddenly became frantic, her tear‑filled eyes pleadingly turned toward Shen Shu.

"Please help me persuade Fu Sijue; I truly don't know what to do now. My child's whereabouts are unknown—do I no longer even have the right to doubt anyone?"

Gu Qingmeng's frantic demeanor didn't seem feigned, and Fu Sijue felt a ripple in his heart as if a small stone had been dropped.

"Miss Gu, you shouldn't be too hasty right now."

"It's not your child that's missing, so of course you're not anxious! If something happens to Yao Yao, I won't live either. Fu Sijue, can you truly bear to watch your own child being taken away?"

Gu Qingmeng muttered a long string of words, each of which made sense, leaving Shen Shu unable to say anything.

Fu Sijue wore a composed expression, his thoughts unreadable, but Gu Qingmeng couldn't wait any longer and grabbed him again.

"If we don't hurry, Yao Yao might get into trouble! I can't wait even a minute…"

Though she claimed to worry about the child, Gu Qingmeng's mind was plotting how to trample Lu Xiwán even harder.

She cannot allow anyone who threatens her position to appear.

"Send someone to investigate at the kindergarten gate now, determine Yao Yao's location as quickly as possible, and make sure no one discovers Yao Yao's disappearance."

Upon hearing that, Gu Qingmeng finally breathed a sigh of relief.

Fortunately, she still held some weight in Fu Sijue's mind, so he was willing to trust her.

"You're happy?" Fu Sijue suddenly said, startling Gu Qingmeng, who flinched and nearly jumped up.

"How could I be happy? My own son was kidnapped; I'm truly worried about Yao Yao. If anything happens to him, what would a mother like me do?"

Gu Qingmeng paced anxiously, occasionally stamping her foot lightly to show her agitation.

She didn't need much effort to make Fu Sijue believe her; after all, someone of Fu Sijue's stature wouldn't think anyone could willingly harm their own flesh and blood.

"I won't let Yao Yao get into trouble," Fu Sijue clenched his pen, the knuckles paling slightly, revealing his tension.

Gu Qingmeng sobbed softly, secretly delighted that the plan was succeeding.

"Sijue, no matter what, I beg you to save the child. I'd even trade my life for it; as long as Yao Yao can be safe and healthy, I'll pay any price!"

She stared anxiously at Fu Sijue, as if arranging funeral matters, and poured out a torrent of words.

Fu Sijue slightly furrowed his brow, clearly displeased with Gu Qingmeng's remarks.

"I won't let you or Yao Yao get into trouble."

Fu Sijue's confident tone let Gu Qingmeng exhale, and she secretly rejoiced inwardly.

Sure enough, he was only temporarily bewildered by that woman; he still leaned toward her.

Fu Sijue did notice the excitement in Gu Qingmeng's eyes, but he averted his gaze, dodging the affection she projected.

"Go home and wait first; I'll have Shen Shu bring the child straight home. Anything that needs handling can be done at home; it's inconvenient at the company."

Even if this was truly orchestrated by Lu Xiwán, no one else may find out.
