Chapter 39: Never See Her Again
Listening to the busy tone on the phone, Heihu didn't get angry at all; instead he squatted down with a smiling face and stared at Fu Yao.
"You brat, even if your fate's bad and you fell into my hands, why did you go and provoke that woman? She's a lunatic!"
Heihu thought there was no need to conceal anything in front of a brat who couldn't lift a chicken, and he was overly confident, not believing a child could affect him.
"You know Xi Wan, right? They offered such a high price, demanding we bring you over. You brat, this life of yours is actually quite valuable!"
After speaking, several of them laughed heartily together, while Fu Yao watched the people before him warily.
"It wasn't my mommy who did it."
Heihu froze for a moment, then only after a short while did he react.
"You're a heartless, treacherous bastard, not even recognizing your own mother—no wonder!"
No wonder Gu Qingmeng abandoned the child she carried for ten months; the child never intended to acknowledge her as mother.
Heihu patted Fu Yao's head, his ruthless expression showing no sign of softening.
"Remember this: your biological mother is Gu Qingmeng!"
After saying that, Heihu went outside to make a call; the door was rather superfluous, as Heihu's voice passed solidly through the door panel into the room.
"Fu Sijue? After all these years we finally have a chance to meet you. Your little rabbit brat is in my hands; if you still want to see him alive, bring twenty million to the outskirts of the city immediately. You have one hour—if you waste even a second, he'll die!"
After hanging up the threatening call, Heihu cut off all communication devices, preventing Fu Sijue's people from tracing the IP address.
"Big brother, Fu Sijue is so powerful, he'll eventually trace this place!" the scar‑marked man following Heihu said, his face full of hesitation.
He has elders above and children below, so he can't go back in to hide.
"What are we afraid of! Us a few outlaws still scared of him? Leave a letter here, then we all retreat. Xi Wan has already arranged an escape route for us; follow her path, it's foolproof."
Heihu isn't a brute; even in front of Fu Yao, he cleverly concealed Gu Qingmeng's involvement in this matter.
The few of them happily discussed, and before leaving they hadn't forgotten to deal with Fu Yao.
Fu Yao, with a composure unlike ordinary children, stood aside watching the busy group; feeling their gazes, he decisively picked up the tape on the floor and neatly sealed his own mouth.
This whole routine was far too familiar to Yao Yao.
After all, many of his nightmares revolve around this.
"Is this brat crazy?" the burly man beside Heihu stared dumbfounded for a moment; he'd never seen such a proactive victim before.
Especially since he's just a child, his skillfulness is almost heartbreaking.
Heihu silently walked over, grabbed the rope on the ground and bound Fu Yao's hands and feet.
Honestly, the kid is truly pitiful.
Father uncaring, mother unloved; a person like him makes anyone feel sorry.
Yao Yao watched the others leave with cold eyes; in the dark, damp house, only he remained, the moment mirroring the past.
He alone was trapped in this dim, sunless little room, no matter how his heart yearned, no hero would ever descend from the heavens.
He had long gotten used to it.
In a daze, Fu Yao fell asleep.
In the dream, like other children, he had a happy, perfect family; his mommy loved him, cooking his favorite sweet‑and‑sour spare ribs daily and taking him to the amusement park.
When he woke to the familiar room, Yao Yao felt a fleeting disappointment—after all, it was just a dream.
