Chapter 69: Check Xi Wan's Files Again
The fast‑food restaurant was also packed with people; they strained like oxen and tigers just to get in.
"Xi Xi, you take them to find a seat first, I'll go place the order."
Lu Xiwán pushed back into the crowd again, moving forward with difficulty.
The noisy environment made her head throb, and after waiting for a long time she finally got the hamburger.
Lu Xiwán turned her head, quickly looked for their whereabouts, then again struggled to walk back.
"Mr. Fu, quickly help me take this!"
The items had just been handed to Fu Sijue when a child ran past Lu Xiwán, jostling her so her balance slipped and she leaned backward.
The crowd naturally cleared a large space; Lu Xiwán closed her eyes to accept reality, but felt no imagined pain. A faint, crisp sandalwood scent reached her nose, and she suddenly opened her eyes to see Fu Sijue holding her with one arm.
"Are you okay?" Fu Sijue still showed no intention of letting go.
Lu Xiwán sprang to her feet, panicking as she fled from Fu Sijue's embrace.
"Thank you, Mr. Fu."
I thought the matter was over, but as soon as Lu Xiwán sat down she felt Fu Sijue's puzzled gaze.
"Why does your body smell of Special Ink from the Fu Clan?"
Fu Sijue's voice was extremely calm, yet Lu Xiwán saw turbulent undercurrents in his eyes.
Her heart lurched; she had planned everything perfectly, but had completely forgotten this detail.
"You know a lot about design, yet you are a Psychologist."
Lu Xixi looked up at Fu Sijue, then gently nudged Yao Yao.
"Mommy, let's go play in the toy area first!"
Without waiting for Lu Xiwán's consent, she grabbed Yao Yao's hand and ran over.
Lu Xiwán took a napkin to wipe her hands, "I came to the site today only because there's a designer I really like. As for what Mr. Fu said, since I'm interested in design, it's not that strange that I accidentally picked up the scent of Special Ink there, right?"
She looked at Fu Sijue, her eyes clear and bright.
"I understand Mr. Fu's urgent desire to find someone, but you shouldn't make such a fuss about it."
Lu Xiwán calmly faced Fu Sijue's scrutinizing gaze, then lightly tapped the table.
"My profession is Psychologist, but that doesn't stop me from being interested in another field; Mr. Fu, this concern is chaotic."
Lu Xiwán's cold voice made Fu Sijue feel as if waking from a great dream.
He folded his hands on the table, remained silent for a long while, then spoke again.
"Yao Yao's condition is much better than at the start; since you're interested, then join the Fu Clan and study properly. I'll have Xie Zian arrange it for you."
Fu Sijue's tone was firm, leaving no room for refusal.
Lu Xiwán simply went along with his words, "Then thank you, Mr. Fu, for this opportunity; I will certainly cherish it."
She calmly chose to accept, her tone without a hint of discontent.
Fu Sijue clenched his fingers into a fist, and after a moment he briskly left the fast‑food restaurant to make a call.
Watching Fu Sijue's reaction, Lu Xiwán finally let out a sigh of relief.
Fortunately, the excuse got her through.
Outside, Fu Sijue silently observed Lu Xiwán's response, then loudly instructed the person on the other end of the phone.
"Check Xi Wan's files again."
That night, Fu Sijue stared at the data on the computer, lost in thought.
Looking only at the current data, Xi Wan had no issues.
He, however, kept feeling something was off...
On the other side, Lu Xiwán dialed Si Jiuyin's number.
"You haven't returned to the country yet?"
Si Jiuyin let out a light laugh, "Just captured someone, I'll be back right away. It's only been a short while since we met, and you already miss me?"
Lu Xiwán lightly spat, noting that after a few days without seeing Si Jiuyin, his cheek had become a bit thicker.
"I have something I want you to look into for me."
"First tell me what it is, I can definitely help you."
With that, Lu Xiwán didn't hold back, recounting the events that had occurred during this period.
"I know Shen Shu; he would never do something so out of line. I just want to know why he got involved in the homicide case."
As soon as the words fell, Lu Xiwán clearly heard Si Jiuyin's breathing become noticeably heavier.
"If it were something else I'd definitely do my best to help you. I've also heard about this case; it's being investigated entirely by the Police Station, and the higher-ups specifically instructed me not to disclose it to anyone."
Si Jiuyin was willing but powerless.
"We aren't in the same system as the police, and I'm not even in Haicheng."
