Chapter 99: Are You Watching Me?
With a single sentence the onlookers were dispersed, and Shen Shu stood firm before them.
"If the shoes are dirty, just throw them away and buy new ones."
"Vice Director Yun, why ruin everyone's harmony over such a trivial matter and let others watch the spectacle for nothing?"
Shen Shu frowned; his words were meant to persuade, but the hidden target was aimed at Yun Ruojin.
Yun Ruojin, displeased, said, "Secretary Shen, what do you mean by that?"
"Do you think I'm deliberately picking a fight with her!?"
Shen Shu wore a professional smile and didn't answer her, "No matter how expensive the shoes are, President Fu can afford to replace them; there's no need for Miss Yun to sell Miss Xi for money."
"Miss Xi works for President Fu."
"Embarrassing Miss Xi in front of her is like slapping President Fu's face."
"If President Fu's reputation is tarnished, Miss Yun thinks you would have to be sold back and forth several times to compensate."
Shen Shu, outwardly fierce but inwardly timid, scared the blustering Yun Ruojin with a few simple words.
He then sent her to the finance department to collect the money.
"Whatever amount she spent, I'll cover it," Lu Xiwán said, not wanting to accept Fu Sijue's favor for free.
Shen Shu put on a relaxed expression again, "Miss Xi need not be so formal with President Fu; President Fu invites you upstairs to discuss matters with you."
Lu Xiwán was thus bewildered and escorted to the top floor.
The moment she saw Fu Sijue, Lu Xiwán couldn't contain her anger.
"Does President Fu think you, in the Fu Clan, can cover the sky with a single hand?"
"Here you can track my every move; having someone keep tabs on me feels good, doesn't it?"
"Or perhaps President Fu enjoys watching me being harassed so that you can stage a heroic rescue drama."
As she spoke, her body kept trembling, and she blurted out everything that was on her mind.
Finally, Lu Xiwán nodded knowingly, sneered, "You placed me in the Fu Clan only because you wanted to control me, right?"
Fu Sijue then set down his pen, "No one has harassed you."
His eyes were clear, not the look of a liar.
Lu Xiwán felt a chill under his gaze, "Why did Assistant Shen happen to appear, why does Yun Ruojin keep picking fights—aren't these all part of your plan?"
She was almost ferocious, grinding her teeth to ask those questions.
The person opposite merely shook his head, "I didn't have anyone watch you; as for what happened, I know nothing. I respect your privacy."
Fu Sijue was completely open; on this point he had no need to hide anything.
"I sent Shen Shu down to find you because Grandfather called me just now, asking me to bring the child back to the old residence. I was wondering if you'd like to go."
The more composed he was, the more Lu Xiwán's earlier agitation seemed overly sensitive.
Even Lu Xiwán didn't want to face that side of herself.
"Mr. Fu, go take Yao Yao yourself; Xi Xi and I won't join this commotion."
Since they're not biological, why force themselves into this family‑happiness spectacle? Lu Xiwán saw that very clearly.
"The old gentleman didn't mention anything? Yao Yao can't tolerate any stimulus now; President Fu and the old gentleman should be careful."
When Lu Xiwán calmed down, she realized how absurd her earlier behavior had been; she had deliberately overstepped when speaking to Fu Sijue.
"Don't worry, I'll protect Yao Yao well."
Lu Xiwán gave a soft "Hmm," pushed the door, and left.
