Chapter 245: Fleeing
In an instant, the eyes of the Master of Luoshen Peak flickered with rolling thunder, and immediately, thunder roared violently above the main peak.
From within the clouds behind him, countless lightning serpents surged forth, as if the entire sky above the main peak were about to turn into a sea of lightning.
“Has Master Chihuo met with misfortune?”
An elderly man in plain robes sat amid the clouds, suddenly turning his head to gaze at a certain point in the empty air below.
The next moment, the green-robed woman appeared as if out of nowhere, slowly materializing within the elder’s line of sight.
Her jet-black hair flowed freely, her skin like congealed fat, her brows and eyes radiating a detached, icy chill; she adjusted the small bundle slung over her shoulder and frowned:
“Master Chihuo is already dead.”
Hearing this, the Master of Luoshen Peak’s face darkened instantly. He glanced at the green-robed woman, then fixed his gaze on the small bundle on her back, and asked suddenly,
“What are you planning to do?”
The green-robed woman looked at the elder before her, her eyes cold as ice floating on still water, and said calmly:
“Luoshen Peak is finished. I must flee now.”
At these words, the elder froze, his eyelids twitching uncontrollably as he blurted out:
“How can you do this?”
But the green-robed woman remained utterly indifferent, as if devoid of any emotion, saying:
“I told you long ago, Master Chihuo, that Luoshen Peak has committed too many evils and would inevitably face retribution. You refused to believe me—now the reckoning has come.”
The Master of Luoshen Peak stared at the green-robed woman for a moment, then shook his head and said gravely:
“The Great Li court seeks to destroy Luoshen Peak—it has nothing to do with our deeds. Even if we acted as righteous heroes, as long as we threatened the Great Li court’s rule, Emperor Yuanwu would find a way to eradicate us.”
As he spoke, he rose from his seated position amid the clouds, took a single step forward, and thunder rolled around him; in an instant, he stood before the green-robed woman, bowing respectfully:
“The man in Bai Lian City killed Master Chihuo in such a short time—his martial prowess cannot be underestimated.”
“Luoshen Peak is now in dire need of strength. Please, Auntie, do not abandon your nephew and the rest of Luoshen Peak’s disciples.”
Yet the slender figure of the green-robed woman remained unmoved. She gazed coldly at the elder before her and said:
“It’s not that I’m petty, but you call me ‘Auntie’ only when you need me, and treat me like a servant when you don’t—is that fair?”
“Besides, I served Luoshen Peak only because my master’s dying wish demanded it. My master himself said before he died: if Luoshen Peak proves unreliable, I may leave at any time.”
“So, morally and logically, you have no right to stop me. I owe you nothing.”
At these words, the Master of Luoshen Peak’s face flushed and paled in turns, yet he still tried to persuade her, his expression earnest:
“My neglect of you in the past was indeed my fault. After this, I will change—I will treat you as if you were my own master.”
“But Luoshen Peak is in dire straits now. Even a lion uses full strength against a rabbit. I intend to join forces with the remaining three Elders and you to crush every single member of the Tianjin Guard—including that Great Li expert.”
“Therefore, I beg you, Auntie, out of our shared lineage, to stay and fight alongside me to exterminate these invaders from the Great Li court.”
The green-robed woman said nothing, only fixed her cold eyes on the Master of Luoshen Peak, as if verifying the truth of his words.
The Master of Luoshen Peak lowered his head, bowed deeply, and lowered his posture.
Seeing this, the green-robed woman nodded slowly, as if deeply satisfied, and said:
“You’re not sending them out one by one to die—you plan to strike with full force. I approve.”
Hearing this, the elder’s expression brightened, believing his words had moved this auntie.
But soon, he suddenly looked up—and saw that the green-robed woman’s figure had already vanished halfway into the void.
“Auntie, you—”
The Master of Luoshen Peak instantly lunged, lightning surging from his hand, reaching for the fading form before him.
But he was clearly too late.
The green-robed woman gazed coldly at him, then vanished instantly into the void, leaving only her voice behind:
“Don’t rush, nephew. If Luoshen Peak survives, I might return.”
The Master of Luoshen Peak stood frozen, his face darkening with fury.
Above, in the sea of clouds, countless violet and cyan lightning serpents writhed, and thunder rolled deep within the clouds.
BOOM!
A bolt of lightning, as thick as an arm, struck the exact spot where the green-robed woman had vanished, tearing open a deep violet rift in space.
The plain-robed elder sighed, then withdrew his gaze and sank back into the clouds above.
He knew that when that auntie used her innate ability to vanish into the void, he had no way left to stop her.
Immediately, the Master of Luoshen Peak sat upon the clouds, channeling his true qi into a thread of sound that instantly reached two locations within the main peak.
Moments later, two figures with snow-white hair rose from hidden groves on the mountain’s mid-slope.
One was shrouded in grayish-green winds, his form moving like lightning, arriving before the Luoshen Hall in the blink of an eye, then drifting like a gentle breeze through the air.
The other, upon receiving the Master’s message, also rushed forth immediately—but his speed, fueled by true qi, was noticeably slower.
Yet his eyes were profoundly strange: entirely yellow-white, with no trace of pupils—he was blind.
But those sightless eyes, when fixed upon a point in the air, caused that space to freeze utterly, all motion ceasing.
At this moment, the Master of Luoshen Peak, seated atop the clouds, looked at the two elders before him and said:
“The Great Li court sent a master to infiltrate our territory and kill Master Chihuo. That man must die. Please, both Uncles, join me to meet Brother Heishan along the way and proceed to Bai Lian City.”
“After we eliminate him together, we will head to Sifeng and annihilate all four divisions of the Great Li Tianjin Guard.”
“First, to avenge Master Chihuo and our fallen disciples; second, to make the Great Li court understand: whoever dares defy Luoshen Peak shall be utterly exterminated!”
Hearing this, the two white-haired elders exchanged glances, then spoke:
“Master, rest assured—we will spare no effort to exterminate the court’s hounds. But please tell us: what is the martial prowess of the one who killed Master Chihuo?”
The Master of Luoshen Peak glanced at them, knowing these two uncles, though powerful, grew more fearful with age, and so reassured them:
“Fear not, Uncles. Even if this man is strong, our four of us together need not fear him.”
