Chapter 12: Lu Qianchuan, you
The next morning, at dawn.
Lu Qianchuan was awakened by the woman's scream.
He opened his eyes abruptly and looked at Qin Yan beside him, asking with concern, "What's wrong?"
"Lu Qianchuan, you're pressing on my hair." Qin Yan looked at him with a bitter face.
Qin Yan got up, not expecting her hair to be pressed by the man's arm, pulling on her scalp. She cried out in pain.
"... Sorry."
Lu Qianchuan was stunned, even forgetting his morning grumpiness.
He moved to the side. Before falling asleep last night, she seemed to be angry and had her back to him. He had difficulty falling asleep for a while, so he grabbed a strand of her hair, as if afraid she would run away, using this method to catch her.
He didn't expect that when he fell asleep, her hair would also be pressed by his arm.
Qin Yan rubbed her scalp and went to the bathroom with a wrinkled little face.
When she came out of the bathroom, she saw the man had already put on a black tracksuit to go exercise. The tracksuit fit his muscles, wide shoulders and narrow waist—truly a feast for the eyes.
No wonder his physical stamina was so good; she had nearly fainted last night before being carried by him to take a shower.
Thinking of the crazy scene last night, she turned her gaze away in a blush and made room for him to enter the bathroom.
Turning around, she saw the quilt on the bed folded neatly and the room tidied up. She raised her eyebrows in surprise and went out to prepare breakfast.
Lu Qianchuan came out dressed neatly and hadn't entered the kitchen yet when he smelled the fragrance.
"Today I made stir-fried orange peels with chili, sugar-fried orange peels, and orange porridge. This orange peel candy is maltose with ginger; it won't be very sweet. This is my grandmother's unique way of eating it." Qin Yan handed him the chopsticks.
Lu Qianchuan met her expectant gaze, took the chopsticks, and tasted a bite. The sweetness wrapped around the orange peel was indeed a unique taste.
The stir-fried orange peels with chili—the spicy heat instantly entered his mouth, mixed with the refreshing fragrance of the orange peel, refreshing and appetizing.
She had been busy for an hour preparing this—was she trying to please him so he wouldn't interfere with her entanglement with Gu He'an?
Thinking of the sticky way she spoke to Gu He'an on the phone last night, it was like a thorn stuck in his heart.
Unhappy. Irritable.
But his handsome face remained calm, and he praised her.
"Cooking is not bad."
"Thank you for the praise." Qin Yan saw he liked it and smiled, sitting down to eat with him.
After breakfast, seeing the woman cleaning up, he stood up to stop her.
"You made breakfast; I'll wash the dishes."
Qin Yan raised her eyebrows again, asking hesitantly, "You know how to wash dishes?"
Lu Qianchuan stacked the bowls and chopsticks together and took them to the kitchen. "Washing dishes, isn't it just something you can do if you have hands?"
"..."
The noble young master of the Lu family would take the initiative to ask to help in the kitchen—this was something Qin Yan hadn't expected.
But this division of labor was fine; as a roommate, he still made her quite satisfied.
The two went out together. Lu Qianchuan put on his shoes first. Looking at the woman's white sneakers and his black leather shoes placed together, his expression softened a bit.
She might have some entanglement with Gu He'an outside, but didn't she still return to his side every day?
But seeing the woman didn't wear white sneakers, but picked up a pair of high heels.
Perhaps she wasn't used to wearing them; she walked awkwardly for a few steps, and he reached out to support her.
Qin Yan thanked him with a smile and said, "Can you conveniently drop me off at the subway entrance? It's hard to get a taxi in the morning."
"Okay." Lu Qianchuan took the opportunity to grab her wrist and take her into the elevator.
Qin Yan stared at his hand. His palm was so hot, scalding her wrist. She tried to break free but didn't succeed.
It wasn't until they got into the car that the man let go of her.
She sat in the passenger seat, holding her wrist, feeling strange in her heart.
For a while, the atmosphere in the car was a bit awkward, luckily her phone rang, and she pressed answer.
Her mother's scolding sounded. "I heard you registered your marriage with Gu He'an. Qin Yan, such an important matter, and you didn't tell us?"
Qin Yan countered, "Isn't it you who always told me to handle my own affairs myself?"
"You, Qin Yan, how did you become so insensible as you grew up? Such a big matter as marriage, how can you handle it yourself! You're marrying out; the dowry the Gu family should give hasn't been discussed! Tonight, bring Gu He'an home for dinner; I want to properly discuss your marriage with him!"
Qin Yan sneered. Her mother never worried about whether the man she married was good or not; she was only worried that the Qin family hadn't gained any benefits from this marriage.
She wasn't very willing to go and wanted to find an excuse to decline, but heard her mother say, "You should tell your grandparents about registering your marriage, otherwise they will be unhappy."
Thinking of her grandparents, Qin Yan had to compromise. "Fine, I'll go back for dinner tonight."
She was raised by her grandparents, so she only spent a few days with her parents during the New Year every year, but even during those few days, she was always disliked.
Her parents had always been in a state of ignoring her in the past; it was only after learning she was with Gu He'an that they gradually contacted her.
But every topic of their phone calls was related to Gu He'an.
Although the woman's voice on the phone wasn't on speaker, it wasn't small in the car, and it was hard for Lu Qianchuan not to hear it.
She was going to bring another man home for dinner to see the elders, while he, the husband who had registered the marriage, couldn't say a word. He grew irritable and darkened his face.
"Drop me off just ahead; I'll walk over. Thank you, Mr. Lu." Qin Yan hung up the phone, looked up, saw the red light, and reminded the man.
Lu Qianchuan asked, "You aren't planning to tell your parents about registering the marriage?"
Qin Yan frowned tightly, her attitude firm. "Telling them will cause trouble; I don't want to say."
If she told her parents that she had married Lu Qianchuan, they would definitely target Lu Qianchuan again and try to extort a so-called dowry from him.
Lu Qianchuan suppressed his anger, his black eyes staring gloomily at her. So bringing Gu He'an home didn't feel like trouble?
In the end, he pulled over on the side of the road and let her get out.
Before Qin Yan got out of the car, noticing the man's expression wasn't very good, she hesitantly took out an orange from her bag and placed it on the center console.
"For you, you didn't eat last night; it tastes quite sweet."
Lu Qianchuan was stunned, staring at the golden orange on the center console, his eyes softening.
Qin Yan walked to the Gu Group building. She didn't rush in but called the donation number from yesterday again, donating fifty million.
She swiped Gu He'an's card to the limit.
Refreshing!
Now seeing Gu He'an, she could start her performance!
She ordered breakfast and waited for Gu He'an.
More than ten minutes later, she saw him get out of the car from afar, and then Lin Yan got out of his car.
She sneered in her heart; he really didn't put any effort into hiding it.
However, she prepared to pretend to be blind and act like she hadn't seen anything, running toward Gu He'an with a bright smile. "He'an, I prepared breakfast for you."
Gu He'an reached out to take the breakfast in her hand, but thinking that Lin Yan said she had a stomachache last night, which might be because she ate something Qin Yan gave her, he withdrew his hand with vigilance. "What are you doing here?"
"You promised yesterday that you would arrange a job for me at the Gu Group. Are you going back on your word?"
Gu He'an rubbed his temples, as if there was such a thing. He said, "Follow me upstairs."
Qin Yan nodded and swept her gaze toward Lin Yan, greeting her with a smile. "Miss Lin, good morning. You look like you're not feeling well."
"... Good morning, Miss Qin. I am a bit uncomfortable; maybe it's because I ate something too spicy last night." Lin Yan stiffly pulled the corners of her mouth, thinking of how she had just come out of Gu He'an's car. She didn't know if this woman had seen it.
But the woman didn't ask a single question and just ran after Gu He'an, so she breathed a sigh of relief.
She also felt annoyed; being with her own husband and still having to guard against being discovered by the "third party" made her feel even more like the third party.
Truly suffocating! ===== CHAPTER 13 =====
