Chapter 46: Don't Laugh, Qin Shasha, I'm Here to Torment You!

~8 min read 1,555 words

When Qin Yan went out in the morning, Lu Qianchuan requested that she keep her phone on her at all times.

Qin Yan felt he was being a bit dramatic, but seeing his stern face, she silently swallowed her retort.

When this man was cold and serious, his sense of oppression was very strong.

She left the residential complex on foot to hail a taxi to school by the roadside.

Not long after the car drove off, she received a message from Lu Qianchuan saying that the car had been followed ever since she got in and left.

Shortly after, Lu Qianchuan called her and said, "Once you arrive at school, don't go to secluded areas; stay in places with many people."

Qin Yan chuckled, "I'm at school for class, why would I go to a secluded area? I—"

"Yesterday, you were sitting by the pond all alone."

"..." Ah, that corner was indeed secluded.

She could not refute him.

She arrived at school.

Qin Yan took her textbook to find the classroom; the junior-year "Acupuncture" textbook was quite thick. When Qin Yan was a freshman, her grandfather had made her memorize the entire text, and she still remembered that if she recited a single acupoint incorrectly, she would get her palms struck.

That was in winter, and her palms were beaten until they were swollen, to the point where she couldn't even hold a pen.

But having to lecture a group of college students around her own age still caused her psychological pressure.

"Qin Yan, why are you here? Don't tell me you were dumped by Gu He'an and came to school to fish for a rich second-generation underclassman?"

Suddenly hearing Qin Shasha's voice, Qin Yan turned around and raised an eyebrow with a smile.

Enemies often cross paths!

She said, "It's early in the morning, and your face is already this puffy—did you get too many hyaluronic acid injections?"

"I'll just take that as you being jealous of my natural beauty!" Qin Shasha touched her face proudly; Qin Yan was only being snide because she was jealous of her face.

"Didn't you graduate long ago? Why are you here, and holding a textbook? Heh, is this a case of 'an old cucumber painted green'—are you here to take remedial classes?"

"It's not a remedial class; it's a lecture."

"Then your 'top student' persona is about to collapse, Senior Sister Qin. The school even publicly praised you, saying you were a magnolia standing on a branch; you mustn't act like a lowly weed." Qin Shasha mocked loudly.

She called her 'Senior Sister Qin' because she didn't want to acknowledge any connection to her; it seemed that being related to her was a shameful thing.

Qin Yan hugged her book, glanced at the book in her hand—also "Acupuncture"—and pointed a finger at her nose.

"Don't laugh, Qin Shasha, I'm here to torment you!"

Qin Shasha sneered in disdain; this wasn't the Qin family, and she wasn't that foolish younger brother. She didn't believe Qin Yan had any ability to touch her.

It must be that her recent nose job looked good, and Qin Yan was jealous of her again.

She lifted her arrogant head and walked into the teaching building.

Qin Yan watched her back and found it laughable. When they were children, Qin Sen had sent Qin Shasha and Qin Sheng to their grandfather to study medicine, but the two were lazy and disobedient, so they were beaten by their grandfather and ran away crying.

Studying medicine was bitter and exhausting and required brains. Since Qin Shasha was studying medicine, she should know some common sense, yet she had ruined her face, even going under the knife to alter her bone structure.

What a sin!

Noticing that quite a few people were sizing her up, she remained calm and composed, but one gaze was particularly intense, so she turned her head to look directly at it.

It was a boy.

A quite handsome boy with blue and white dyed hair, combed back and tied up like a pretty feather duster.

But the boy wasn't effeminate at all; instead, he had a kind of arrogant flamboyance.

"Do you know me?" Noticing that the boy was still sizing her up, Qin Yan felt suspicious. Could it be that he was looking for trouble because of the public opinion online?

"You don't remember me?" The boy's expression turned cold as he crossed his arms and arrogantly lifted his chin. There were a few strands of blue hair by his beautiful jawline, making him look exquisite and pretty.

"..." Qin Yan was bewildered.

She had never seen him!

"Qin Yan." Shi Laoshi came over to call her, and Qin Yan withdrew her gaze to look at the teacher.

Shi Laoshi glanced at the boy beside them, then looked at his hair with a hint of disgust, "Du Linze, can you stop loitering in front of me with that ugly look!"

Du Linze retorted unhappily, "This look isn't for you to see, Shi Laoshi; it's that you don't know how to appreciate it."

"..." Qin Yan watched the boy; he certainly had a temper.

The teacher was very fierce at school, and few students dared to talk back to him so directly.

Shi Laoshi was a bit angry and wanted to scold him, but Du Linze knew when to restrain himself, "Class is about to start, Shi Laoshi, I'm heading to the classroom."

Thinking that Qin Yan was substituting for him tonight, Shi Laoshi didn't bother arguing with him.

However, he sized Qin Yan up, seeing that she was wearing a black coat today, which made her look a bit... dowdy.

He frowned in disgust, "Qin Yan, you don't look like someone short on money. Since you're acting as a teacher today, can't you be a bit more particular about your image?"

Qin Yan laughed in anger, "Can this class be taught or not? If not, I'm leaving now. Does what I wear have anything to do with teaching?"

Shi Laoshi clicked his tongue, "Next time, dress better for me. You're a young girl, all in black, making yourself look like a black crow—not festive at all."

"..." Qin Yan took a deep breath and endured it.

Nowadays, which college student doesn't have a few black outfits for the sake of easy matching?

She was just acting as a teacher; why did she need to be festive?

For her first time substituting, Shi Laoshi needed to introduce her identity as a substitute teacher to the students.

Walking into the classroom, she followed behind him and stood in the middle of the podium.

Shi Laoshi said in a loud voice, "My throat is uncomfortable today, so from now on, my substitute assistant will be teaching the class, Teacher Qin."

Qin Yan introduced herself to everyone, "Hello students, I am Qin Yan, and I will be your substitute teacher from now on."

"Hello, Teacher Qin!"

The voices of the crowd were sparse, and most of them sounded perfunctory.

Qin Shasha, sitting below, stared at the woman on the podium in astonishment, unable to believe that she would actually become her teacher.

When she said she was going to class earlier, it wasn't to attend a class herself, but to teach the students.

She had said she was going to come and torment herself.

If she wanted to fail herself, wouldn't that be easy?

This stinking thing, who knows what methods she used to gain the favor of Shi Laoshi.

Sensing Qin Shasha's hateful gaze, Qin Yan simply ignored her and began the lecture.

Looking at Shi Laoshi sitting below the podium, the two made eye contact; although she felt nervous inside, she still restrained herself.

Usually she was the one below the podium listening to the teacher lecture; this was the first time she stood in his position while he sat below, and she was truly afraid that if she said something wrong, he would speak up right then and there to sarcastically mock her.

Shi Laoshi was absolutely capable of doing such a thing!

When the class ended, she set aside ten minutes for a Q&A session, allowing students who hadn't understood to ask questions.

Someone raised their hand, "Teacher Qin, your lecture was excellent, and I admire it very much, but whenever people talk about Traditional Chinese Medicine, they all feel that the older one is, the more experience one has; since you are so young and so beautiful, yet able to become a substitute teacher, do you have some special skill?"

His voice carried provocation and mockery.

He was one step away from bluntly asking, you're only two or three years older than me, are you becoming my teacher just because of that face of yours?

Hearing Du Linze speak, Qin Shasha looked at Qin Yan with schadenfreude, waiting to see her make a fool of herself!

This Du Linze was from a medical family and his medical cultivation was not poor; he was usually highly regarded by many teachers, and he had previously specifically requested to choose Shi Laoshi as his mentor, but was rejected by Shi Laoshi, which made him feel he had lost face.

Now that Du Linze had stepped forward to intentionally make things difficult for her, Qin Yan was surely going to suffer.
