Chapter 65: Qin Yan cannot be my sister-in-law, you can forget about ever getting married in this lifetime!

~8 min read 1,528 words

The class ended, and Qin Yan left, only to be blocked by Du Linze once again.

"Teacher Qin, let me give you a hint: azaleas."

Qin Yan let out a laugh, "You like azaleas? What a coincidence, your surname is also Du."

Du Linze stared straight at her, gritting his teeth as he questioned, "Do you remember? When you gave me flowers and coaxed me into taking my medicine, those were the exact words you said. Qin Yan, you're playing me on purpose!"

Qin Yan looked innocent, "Student Du, I haven't even been paying attention to you. You were the one who gave me the hint, so how am I playing you?"

"Since you recognize me, why do you look right through me? I tried to contact you, but you ignored me. At your grandfather's funeral, I went to see you, and you didn't even spare me a glance!"

Qin Yan looked even more innocent, "When did you ever contact me?"

"I wrote you letters, I had my brother deliver them to you, and you never replied even once!" Du Linze accused.

Qin Yan laughed, "Then you brothers must be very close. As someone from the countryside, I have never received any such letters."

"..." Du Linze stared at her, stunned.

He could hear the sarcasm in her voice; his brother had never sent the letters to her at all.

Yet his brother had told him that she was busy with her own affairs and had made new friends, and that she had simply forgotten about him, her old friend.

Upon learning that her grandfather had passed away, he had insisted on going to speak with her, but she hadn't even looked at him, nor had she acknowledged a single word he said.

"Stop playing meaningless games now that you're grown up. Little Young Master of the Du family, I'm not someone you can climb up to." Qin Yan walked around him, striding forward, but he chased after her again.

"Who wants you to climb? Qin Yan, back then you promised you would marry my brother, be my sister-in-law, and be my family." Du Linze looked at her with a hint of obsession.

Qin Yan stopped and looked at him, feeling that both Du brothers had something wrong with them.

"I'm married."

Du Linze was shocked; he grabbed her arm and demanded, "What kind of bad taste do you have? You look down on the Eldest Young Master of the Du family?"

Qin Yan's expression turned cold, her eyes becoming sharp, "What is so rare about your brother that I should look up to him? Du Linze, let go, don't force me to use force."

Du Linze knew she had practiced martial arts since she was a child. During the time he was recuperating, she had led him in training. Her grip was very strong; even his brother, who was two years older than her, was no match for her.

Reluctantly, he let go, but he was still unwilling to give up, "Who did you marry?"

"Does it have anything to do with you?" Qin Yan continued walking forward.

"How could it not? You are my pre-ordained sister-in-law, and you must be my sister-in-law."

Du Linze was one meter eighty, blocking her path like a wall.

"Don't think that just because you've grown tall, I can't beat you. Get lost!" Qin Yan said, feeling annoyed.

Was this person's brain not working right because his illness from back then hadn't been fully cured?

"Then hit me! If you break my legs, you can treat them again!" Du Linze stood before her with a 'dead pig isn't afraid of boiling water' attitude.

Qin Yan took a deep breath and said, "Go ask your brother. Du Linze, you aren't a child anymore, why are you still throwing tantrums like you did when you were little!"

Du Linze stopped in his tracks, staring at her with resentment. She actually looked down on him.

Since he was young, the family rules had been strict, requiring him to be sensible and know his manners. He couldn't act spoiled or cry in front of his elders. Because his parents were fighting over a divorce, he had contracted a strange illness and was shunned by everyone. During his treatment, she had been the best to him.

He dared to throw tantrums in front of her because he knew he would be indulged; he was never lectured. When he was little, he had said he wanted her to grow up and be his sister-in-law, to become his family, and she had promised.

But now she wanted to go back on her word!

Watching her retreating back, he gritted his teeth, took out his phone, and called his brother.

"Brother, have you seen Qin Yan?"

"I have. I even gave her the hairpins you had prepared for so long." Du Linsen's tone was somewhat helpless.

Ever since his younger brother had been treated at the Qin family grandfather's place, he had treated Qin Yan as his sister-in-law. He wouldn't even allow him to date; every time he showed interest in another woman, his brother would immediately break it up. He didn't even know how many times this had happened.

"You took my things, why didn't you tell me?" Du Linze was furious, then asked coldly, "Qin Yan is married, did you know that too?"

"I just found out. She married the CEO of the Gu Group, Gu He'an." After saying this, Du Linsen tried to persuade his brother, "She has no hope of being your sister-in-law. For so many years, you've ruined my relationships, leaving me single all this time. Can you let me off now?"

"No!" Du Linze shouted angrily, "Just because she's married, doesn't mean she can't get a divorce, right?"

"... No, brother, that's someone else's marriage, not yours!" Du Linsen had a headache.

"I don't care. Gu Group CEO Gu He'an—if he doesn't divorce, he can become a widower. If you won't do it, I will!" Du Linze's tone was obsessive and dangerous, making Du Linsen's scalp tingle.

His brother was absolutely capable of murder and arson!

"Don't be impulsive. If she loves that man, even if he dies, that man will only stay in her heart forever. You would be destroying her!"

Du Linsen advised gently, slowly guiding him, "If you want to win her over, you can't use force. Let her come to our side on her own. That is how you become family, not enemies!"

Only then did Du Linze grunt, considering it an agreement.

"What kind of man is he, to have won Qin Yan's favor? Brother, you should learn from his strengths. Qin Yan cannot be my sister-in-law, and you can forget about ever getting married in this lifetime!"

"..." Du Linsen hung up the phone.

What a disaster!

Qin Yan went to find Lu Qianchuan to sign the contract. She didn't go directly to the Lu Group, but instead arranged to meet at a cafe not far from the Lu Group.

Lu Qianchuan opened the document, saw that her teacher had already signed it, and picked up a pen to write his name and stamp it with the company seal.

The document was in duplicate, with each of them keeping one copy.

Qin Yan put the document away and discussed the subsequent steps with him. The Lu Group could announce the scientific research project cooperation to the outside world, for example, by releasing news on official platforms or creating momentum in public opinion.

Lu Qianchuan was puzzled, "And your plan?"

"It won't be affected."

The timeline was a bit tight.

But it was better to handle it early.

The two walked out. Lu Qianchuan opened the door first and waited for her to go out before following.

Just as they stepped out of the cafe, they ran into someone familiar.

It was Lin Yan.

Their eyes met, and Qin Yan was so startled she stopped in her tracks.

The atmosphere was awkward.

Lin Yan narrowed her cold eyes, staring at the two with a complex gaze.

How could they be together?

Lu Qianchuan noticed Lin Yan, his expression open and honest as he greeted her politely.

"Miss Lin, good afternoon."

"Mr. Lu, good afternoon. What a coincidence. Miss Qin, why are you here?" Lin Yan asked with a smile, her gaze sweeping back and forth between the two.

Lu Qianchuan looked at Qin Yan. Since they had been discovered, should they just come clean?

"Where I am, do I have to report to you?" Qin Yan said with a calm and composed expression. "Miss Lin, you really are overstepping!"

"Miss Qin, I was just asking out of kindness. Why are you so short-tempered?" Lin Yan looked aggrieved, her brows furrowed as she stared at the two.

What exactly was their relationship, and why were they together?

Lu Qianchuan and Gu He'an were rivals. Knowing the relationship between Qin Yan and Gu He'an, why would he still be in contact with Qin Yan?

Could it be that he wanted to use Qin Yan to teach Gu He'an a lesson?

Now that she had discovered them, was Qin Yan feeling guilty?
