Chapter 127: Divorce Is Mandatory!

~6 min read 1,121 words

Su Yanhua listened to his cold, heartless words, watching his eager desire to get rid of her, and felt a wave of fishy sweetness rise in her throat.

All her grievances, all the lingering hopes, were completely crushed at that moment.

She had given him so much, schemed so much, even sacrificed her own child and the very essence of being a woman.

In return he gave a flippant "cannot cut off the line" and an impatient Divorce agreement!

"Heh… heh heh…" she suddenly let out a low laugh, the laugh harsh and desperate, tears flowing even more fiercely, "Liu Wenbin… hello… you're so good…"

She seized the water cup on the bedside table, mustering all her strength, and hurled it at Liu Wenbin!

"Get out! Get out of here!!"

The cup smashed at Liu Wenbin's feet, shattering, water spraying everywhere.

Liu Wenbin jumped, his face turned even sicker; he frowned with disgust, as if even another glance at Su Yanhua was filthy.

"Calm down! The agreement is here; sign it when you're ready!"

He tossed those words and fled almost in panic, fearing that staying another second would let this mad woman cling to him.

Liu Wenbin escaped the hospital as if fleeing, the scent of disinfectant mixed with despair choking him.

Returning to the unusually cold house, Liu Mother paced anxiously in the living room, and rushed to greet him as soon as he entered.

"How's it going? Wen Bin, did she sign?"

Liu Mother's voice was urgent, her eyes showed no concern for the daughter‑in‑law, only a desire to be rid of trouble.

Liu Wenbin irritatedly tugged at his collar, collapsed onto the sofa, massaged his throbbing temples, his tone weary and impatient.

"Sign? It's not that easy!"

"You didn't see her act like a crazy old woman, crying, screaming, and even smashing a cup at me!"

"I still see this matter dragging on!"

"What? She still dares to make a scene?" Liu Mother's voice shot up an octave, hands on hips, a scornful face full of anger, "She still has the nerve? If she hadn't gone mad and troubled you, could she have caused herself to miscarry?"

"She even ruined her body, dragging our Liu family into extinction. We'd be lucky not to settle the score with her, and she still has the gall!"

She grew more furious, as if every fault lay solely with Su Yanhua.

"Divorce! Must divorce! This kind of Mourning Star, Broom Star, absolutely cannot stay in our Liu family!"

Liu Mother declared resolutely, then lowered her voice, calculating.

"Wen Bin, don't fear her antics. She now wants nothing—her child is gone, her body is ruined, her natal family is of no worth; what storm can she raise?"

"At worst… we just give her more money and quickly send this plague away!"

"Mom will ask someone to find you a good one, capable of bearing children!"

Hearing his mother's words, Liu Wenbin's irritation did not ease, but grew more stifling.

He waved his hand weakly and said, "Mom, you stop, let me have some peace."

He now wanted nothing else but to shed all this quickly, yet didn't know how to cut cleanly loose.

Meanwhile, the hospital ward's atmosphere was suffocatingly oppressive.

After Liu Wenbin left, Su Yanhua seemed to have her last ounce of strength drained, collapsed on the bed, no longer crying or screaming, nor speaking, just staring blankly at the ceiling.

Wang Juhua looked at her daughter's condition, both heart‑ache and anxiety, but helpless, wiping tears while muttering curses at the Liu family's mother‑son as wolf‑hearted, dog‑livered.

……

Su Ruan awoke within a gentle sucking sensation.

She slowly opened her eyes; the soft morning light filtered through the curtain gaps, bringing warmth.

A familiar pressure throbbed in her chest; looking down, daughter An'an was asleep, her little mouth sucking powerfully, emitting satisfied hums.

Almost simultaneously, baby Jinjin in the adjacent crib seemed to sense the sister's feeding, puckered his mouth, let out a faint whimper, and his tiny limbs began kicking restlessly.

"Awake?"

A deep, gentle voice sounded beside her ear.

Su Ruan turned her head, meeting Jiang Ran's smiling eyes.

He didn't know when he had awakened, lying on his side, one hand propping his head, his gaze tender on her and the nursing daughter; his other hand reached into the neighboring crib, gently patting the now fidgety son.

"Mm."

Su Ruan softly replied, watching the one grown and two small beside her, her heart wrapped in a filling happiness, the labor fatigue and pain feeling distant.

She adjusted her posture to let An'an feed more comfortably.

"This kid, ears are sharp; the sister moves and he wakes up."

Jiang Ran watched his son's eager little expression, chuckled softly, skillfully lifted Jinjin from the crib, cradling him in his arm and gently rocking.

"Good boy, don't rush; after your sister finishes eating, it'll be your turn."

Jinjin, held by dad, smelled the familiar scent, his whimper softened, but his little mouth kept moving, clearly still hungry.

Su Ruan watched Jiang Ran's careful yet blissful demeanor, a smile tugged at her lips.

This once‑rebellious man now held the child with such natural tenderness.

"When did you wake up?" she asked softly.

"Not long ago," Jiang Ran lowered his head, nudging his son's soft crown with his chin, "I woke up hearing their movements. You rest a bit more; after An'an finishes, I'll prepare Jinjin's formula."

"It's fine, I'm not sleepy."

Su Ruan shook her head, gazing at her daughter's tranquil profile in her arms and at her husband's eager son waiting to be fed, feeling that time was perfectly still, nothing better.

Soon, the courtyard outside carried Li Huijuan's and Jiang Nainai's deliberately low‑pitched chatter, plus faint kitchen sounds.

Clearly, grandma and mother‑in‑law had already risen, busy preparing breakfast for the whole family.

An'an ate and drank his fill, relaxed his mouth satisfied, let out a tiny milk burp, then fell into deep sleep.

Su Ruan gently placed her back into the crib, and Jiang Ran swiftly prepared formula at the right temperature, handing the bottle to the impatient Jinjin.

The little one immediately sucked vigorously, producing a "glug glug" sound of contentment.

Jiang Ran cradles his son, watches his ravenous gulping, and can't help but laugh, "Slow down, slow down, no one's racing you! Look at your little ambition!"

Su Ruan leans against the head of the bed, watches the scene, a gentle smile on her face. She shifts her body slightly, feeling some lingering discomfort below, but it's far better than right after giving birth.

"Does it still hurt?" Jiang Ran notices her subtle movement and immediately asks with concern.

"Much better, don't worry." Su Ruan comforts him.
