Chapter 45: Little Wolf‑Dog Has No Self‑Control!!

~6 min read 1,182 words

At some point, the two had moved from the steam‑filled bathroom to the soft large bed.

The damp tips of her hair dripped water, spreading dark stains on the light‑colored sheets.

Jiang Ran gently laid her on the bed, his tall body falling over her, the shadow completely enveloping her.

His gaze, under the dim bedside lamp, was as deep as a bottomless cold pool, yet burned with a flame that could incinerate a person.

"This time… is it enough?"

He pressed his forehead against hers, his voice carrying a final hint of uncertainty, while his tense body was already primed to act.

Su Ruan's cheeks flushed, her eyes flickering with allure; that silent consent was more seductive than any words.

Receiving the affirmative signal, Jiang Ran's Adam's apple rolled violently, and the last strand of reason snapped completely.

Su Ruan felt as if she were swept into an irresistible storm, her consciousness shattered at the wave's crest, able only to rise and fall with his rhythm.

The fragmented whimpers and intermittent pleas were swallowed by an even hotter kiss, becoming an emotional catalyst at his ear.

The air was filled with the sweet, cloying scent unique to arousal, mingling their sweat with the faint fragrance after the bath.

He whispered her name repeatedly into her ear, interspersed with heavy breaths and uncontrolled words of love, as if to carve those syllables into bone and blood.

……

Moonlight shifted silently, bearing witness to the room's springtime intimacy.

When the final surge subsided, only their rapid heartbeats and intertwined breaths echoed in the quiet night.

Jiang Ran still held her tightly, as if to fold her into his own body; sweat dampened their pressed skins, yet neither wanted to part first.

When everything calmed, the moon was already high overhead outside the window.

Su Ruan lay on the bed, her whole body sore and limp, not even wanting to move a single finger.

Jiang Ran, contented, embraced her from behind, like a well‑fed large dog, intermittently planting light kisses on her smooth shoulder, his face bearing a thoroughly satisfied smile.

"Wife…" his voice carried post‑act laziness and hoarseness, "you're so good…"

Su Ruan no longer had the strength to glare at him; she could only hum softly, as a response.

Jiang Ran pulled her closer to his chest, feeling the warm, fragrant softness within, thinking life could not be more complete.

He kissed the top of her hair, whispering a promise: "From now on, I'll definitely give you a good life, the best life."

The next morning Su Ruan was awakened by bright sunlight; she moved lazily, feeling as if her whole body had been taken apart and reassembled, especially her waist and legs, which were painfully sore.

Even breathing sounded steady beside her ear; Jiang Ran's sturdy arm still lay dominantly across her waist, deep in sleep, a faint satisfied grin tugging at his mouth.

Remembering last night's debauchery, Su Ruan's cheeks flushed again.

This little wolf‑dog, after indulging in meat, is simply… without restraint!

She carefully tried to shift his arm away; as soon as she moved, the arm tightened even more, and she heard his drowsy mutter at her ear.

"Don't move… sleep a bit more…"

"It's already daylight," Su Ruan said helplessly, gently pushing him, "hurry up, didn't we agree to go out for a walk today?"

Jiang Ran reluctantly opened his eyes, seeing the person in his arms with flushed cheeks and slightly reproachful watery eyes; the night's sensual scenes flashed back instantly.

His gaze darkened, his Adam's apple rolled, and he lowered his head, wanting to kiss again.

Su Ruan quickly blocked his mouth with her hand, setting a firm expression: "No more fooling around, speak seriously!"

Seeing her resolute, Jiang Ran reluctantly tucked away his thoughts, yet he still lingered on her body for a while before sluggishly getting up.

After they finished washing up, Aunt Zhang the nanny had already prepared a simple breakfast.

Plain congee, steamed buns, a vegetable dish, and some pickled greens.

After the meal, Aunt Zhang cleaned up and returned to her own room in the back yard, not disturbing the couple's private world.

"Let's go, wife!" Jiang Ran, invigorated, took Su Ruan's hand and headed out, "Today we'll stroll the street properly and see what opportunities there are!"

The streets of the late 1980s were brimming with the vibrant energy of old meeting new.

Bicycle bells rang everywhere, and occasionally Lada and Shanghai brand cars passed by, drawing pedestrians' glances.

Along the streets, state‑run shops still dominated, but numerous individually‑run stalls began sprouting like bamboo after rain.

Clothing sellers, snack vendors, appliance repairers… though small in scale, exuded a fresh vitality.

Jiang Ran, familiar with the area, first took Su Ruan to wander near the Billiard Hall and Game Hall he often frequented.

It was still bustling, with young men and women constantly coming and going; the business looked quite good.

"Look, this place is crowded, it's definitely profitable," Jiang Ran said proudly, pointing at the Game Hall, feeling his earlier thought was correct.

Su Ruan shook her head slightly, leading him a bit farther, whispering, "There are many people here, but have you considered that more people are now doing this business too."

"And, as I said yesterday, could this form of entertainment ever be replaced?"

Jiang Ran glanced at a newly opened arcade across the street, his brows slightly furrowing.

His wife's point seemed to have some merit.

The two then strolled to the department store and the nearby commercial district.

Here the crowd was dense; the state‑run mall offered a dazzling array of goods, but service was generally cold, many items required tickets, and styles were relatively uniform and dated.

At some individual stalls, although the quality varied, the designs were fresh and the staff enthusiastic, attracting many young people to linger.

Su Ruan observed carefully, and vague ideas began forming in her mind.

"Jiang Ran, look over there," she said, pointing at a stall selling fashionable Dress and jeans, where many young girls gathered, "Nowadays, especially the youth, increasingly prefer fresh, good‑looking clothes. Some state shops can't keep up."

Jiang Ran nodded: "Yeah, Shi Tou's group deals in these, they sell well."

But he immediately frowned, "However, many are now in this trade, competition is fierce, and supplies are unstable, requiring frequent trips south—hard work."

"Hmm, that's a problem."

Su Ruan agreed. Simply being a middleman isn't a long‑term plan.

They kept walking, passing a newly opened barbershop whose décor was noticeably brighter than others, with a few women sporting trendy curls inside.

They also saw a small print‑copy shop; though the machines were bulky, people occasionally came in to handle business.

Walking along, they arrived at a relatively quiet street corner, where a shop was for rent, with red paper pasted on the glass.

The shop wasn't large, its location wasn't prime, but it was clean and tidy.

Su Ruan stopped at the shop's doorway, deep in thought.

"Daughter-in-law, why are you looking at this? This place is remote; doing business here might not work."
