Chapter 251
When they reached the door of the child's room, Shu Xia changed her mind, "Grandpa Ding, let's go see Dingnainai first."
Grandpa Ding was stunned for a moment, "Alright, alright."
Then they went up another floor.
Just as they were about to enter, a servant walked out from inside, and the servant respectfully called out "Ding Lao" to Grandpa Ding.
"I just followed the doctor's instructions and gave the old madam her medicine, but the old madam is still very uncomfortable now; she keeps complaining of a headache and leg pain," the servant said with a face full of worry.
Grandpa Ding nodded, "You go ahead and get busy."
As he pushed the door open to enter, Grandpa Ding turned back to say to Shu Xia, "During this period, your Dingnainai has been like this, often complaining of a headache and leg pain."
"Has the medicine prescribed by the doctor had no effect after she took it?" Shu Xia asked.
"It can only alleviate some of the headache symptoms," Grandpa Ding sighed, clearly feeling very helpless as well.
After walking inside, they saw the haggard old woman with a pale complexion and a large patch of gray hair; she was lying on the bed, her whole body under the quilt, looking very thin.
They walked in while talking, but she did not notice.
Her eyes remained tightly shut, her brows were furrowed, and her lips were bitten tightly.
Observing closely, one could even see that Dingnainai's body was trembling slightly.
Grandpa Ding walked to the bedside and, looking at Dingnainai who was enduring extreme pain despite being asleep, his eyes turned red.
Qiao Muting stood behind Shu Xia, watching as Shu Xia calmly observed her surroundings.
Suddenly, someone pushed the door open and walked in directly.
"Dad?"
"Are there guests?"
"Qiao... Qiao."
Grandpa Ding looked at his youngest son, Dinghui, who had suddenly barged in, and frowned, "You go downstairs and wait first."
"Ah, alright." Dinghui glanced at Qiao Muting, then looked at Shu Xia, feeling somewhat curious about her.
After Dinghui walked out, Grandpa Ding said, "Xia Xia, regarding the matter between you and Mu Ting, your Qiao Nainai said that since it hasn't been officially announced yet, we shouldn't tell the younger generation, so I won't introduce you to the Ding family members for now."
"Alright, it doesn't matter, Grandpa Ding." Shu Xia nodded gently, not minding at all.
Grandpa Ding looked at Qiao Muting again, "Mu Ting, you sit and rest for a while."
Qiao Muting nodded slightly and sat to one side.
"Xia Xia, can you tell what the reason is?" Grandpa Ding asked somewhat nervously.
Shu Xia walked to the walk-in closet to the side.
The walk-in closet had a transparent wall, and one could see clearly what clothes were hanging inside.
Her gaze stopped on a cheongsam.
"Is this a cheongsam that Dingnainai collects?" Shu Xia asked.
Grandpa Ding looked over, puzzled as to why Shu Xia had suddenly asked about the cheongsam, and shook his head, saying, "This cheongsam isn't a collectible. It was a gift from our youngest son when it was your Dingnainai's birthday. Your Dingnainai liked this cheongsam very much and used to wear it often. Since she hasn't been well these past two days, it's been left in the closet."
The pattern on it looked very exquisite.
It was a rare embroidery technique, and the patterns embroidered on it were not ones often seen.
Qiao Muting swept a glance over it, then stood up and walked to Shu Xia's side, "Is there a problem with this cheongsam?"
"A problem with the cheongsam?" Grandpa Ding widened his eyes, finding it somewhat hard to believe.
"If nothing goes wrong, it's this one." Shu Xia opened the closet door and took the cheongsam out.
Under the lights of the walk-in closet, the gold threads and some of the pearls sewn onto the cheongsam looked extremely lustrous, making it easy for one to overlook the patterns embroidered on the cheongsam.
At first glance, these patterns looked exquisite and beautiful against the backdrop of the pearls and gold threads.
In reality, the patterns embroidered on the cheongsam were a talisman filled with evil and dark energy.
Otherwise, after a hundred years, the pearls on the cheongsam could not possibly still be so brilliant.
