Chapter 389

His tone was involuntarily gentle, "Eat first."

"Mm."

Shu Xia sat on the hospital bed, looking at the soft, tender porridge with an appetite, "Let's eat together."

Zhang Tezhu had brought coffee and a sandwich for Qiao Muting.

He had already eaten breakfast at the hotel.

The hospital room was quiet, with only the faint sounds of Shu Xia and Qiao Muting eating.

Ten minutes later, Shu Xia had finished the entire bowl of porridge.

Someone knocked on the door.

Shu Xia thought it was a doctor, so when a woman wearing a hospital gown appeared at the door, Shu Xia's expression froze.

The girl looked to be about her age, only a bit thinner, with the hospital gown hanging loosely on her.

She was very pretty and very cute, the kind of girl whose appearance would make people feel pity at first sight; when her pair of starry eyes looked over, they were completely pure inside.

A very wonderful kind of girl.

"Miss Song!" Zhang Tezhu was somewhat surprised.

He hadn't expected Song Ziqi to actually come.

He looked back at Qiao Muting; Qiao Muting was clearly not surprised, as if he had known all along that Song Ziqi would come.

"Are you two eating breakfast? I don't know if I'm interrupting you?" Song Ziqi asked somewhat cautiously.

Qiao Muting said, "You aren't interrupting."

Shu Xia looked at Qiao Muting, then looked at Song Ziqi at the door.

Suddenly, she had an intuition that Song Ziqi was likely the type of girl Qiao Muting would like.

Before, when she heard Qiao Muting on the phone, that soft, gentle voice must have been this girl before her.

"My name is Song Ziqi, I am Mu Ting's foster sister. I heard Mu Ting mention my sister-in-law, you and Mu Ting are already married, so I can call you sister-in-law, right?" Song Ziqi looked at Shu Xia again, asking with a pure and beautiful smile.

Shu Xia smiled and nodded, "Of course you can."

Foster sister?

She hadn't heard Qiao Muting mention this before.

"Sister-in-law is the prettiest girl I have ever seen!" Song Ziqi stared at Shu Xia's face, somewhat dazed.

The beauty of Shu Xia before her was the kind of beauty that struck the heart directly, absolutely stunning, and also absolutely aggressive.

This kind of beauty easily makes people feel inferior.

Song Ziqi pursed her lips.

Shu Xia was often complimented, but being complimented by a beauty who was also a beauty, she couldn't help but smile, "You are also very pretty."

Song Ziqi's smiling eyes narrowed, "Thank you. I heard Mu Ting say yesterday that you had gastroenteritis and also a fever, how are you feeling now?"

"I'm already better, there are no symptoms now," Shu Xia replied with a smile.

"That's good, as long as there's nothing wrong, that's good." After Song Ziqi finished speaking, she walked toward Qiao Muting. Seeing Qiao Muting's slightly bloodshot eyes, she was somewhat surprised and concerned: "Mu Ting, did you not sleep last night? Your eyes look red; do you want to go get some rest now?"

Qiao Muting's gaze was soft, "I slept for a few hours, it's nothing serious."

Shu Xia watched the way the two interacted; it was like siblings, yet not quite like siblings.

She had almost never seen Qiao Muting be this gentle with other women. The previous Shen Anran was said to have known Qiao Muting for many years and could be considered an acquaintance, but Qiao Muting was extremely cold and distant toward Shen Anran. It was clear that Qiao Muting didn't have many people in his eyes and was not keen on matters of romance.

However, toward Song Ziqi now, his whole person had softened and relaxed.

Shu Xia picked up her cup and took a sip of water.

She said to herself that Qiao Muting's private affairs had nothing to do with her, and she shouldn't have curiosity that she shouldn't have.

"I have a very good eye mask in my hospital room, it's especially comfortable, I'll go get it for you. Mu Ting, you must pay more attention to your insomnia problem." Song Ziqi's tone was grave, and her brows were furrowed.
