Chapter 42
Shu Xia parked the car on the side of the road.
She took out her phone, quickly opened WeChat, and checked her Moments.
The top post was from Gu Cheng, a photo of him trying to look cool on his way to work by bus.
The second one was from Fu Chenyan.
There were three photos, taken during high school, university, and before her rebirth, respectively.
All three photos were the kind that made it obvious at a glance that they were a loving young couple.
Looking at these photos now, she only found them an eyesore, sometimes even wondering why she hadn't been reborn back to high school; at that time, she could have completely prevented any relationship with Fu Chenyan.
Reading the text, he had actually written a long-winded post about their deep affection, saying he would be with her for the rest of his life, hoping their friends on Moments would bear witness, and even saying that if he betrayed her, he would surely die a horrible death.
Finally, he said he was preparing to propose to her and hoped they could build a happy family.
They had many mutual friends, as well as high school classmates.
A long string of likes, a long string of congratulations and expressions of envy.
She was still on the phone with Shu Chen.
Shu Chen estimated the time and figured his younger sister must have finished reading that dog Fu Chenyan's Moments post, "Xia Xia, finished reading? Is his brain sick? Big Brother and I think the same; we always felt he was acting pretentious everywhere. What a dog!"
"I'll handle this matter. I'll post on my Moments to clarify that I've broken up with him. Second Brother, is work going smoothly lately?" Shu Xia's tone was very calm.
After all, having seen a more disgusting side of Fu Chenyan, what was a mere Moments post like this?
"Don't worry about Second Brother. I've gotten a role with lines these past two days, and today I even get to be a stunt double for the male lead. Don't worry, if I work hard, who knows, maybe one day I'll bring home a Best Actor award for our family," Shu Chen said with a laugh.
Reality is cruel, but one must still dream! Perhaps one day it will come true.
Shu Xia knew Shu Chen was always optimistic, so she didn't skimp on praising him: "My Second Brother's acting has always been good; you're the best actor among all the male actors I've ever seen!"
Shu Chen was coaxed into laughing heartily.
After the siblings hung up, Shu Xia posted on her Moments, though she blocked Qiao Nainai and Butler Qin; she was afraid Qiao Nainai would worry if she saw it.
She posted a photo she had taken earlier of Fu Chenyan and Lin Miao embracing.
The accompanying text read: A bitch and a dog are a match made in heaven. I solemnly declare that the scumbag and I broke up on the 30th of last month.
After the post went up, her WeChat notifications barely stopped.
She was in a rush to get to Antique Street, so she ignored the messages.
When she arrived at Zhang Dechun's shop, she found that both Zhang Dechun and Gu Cheng were looking at her with very sympathetic and concerned eyes.
"Xia Xia, um, how about I give you another day off today? Restoring an Ancient Painting is time-consuming anyway; a day or two doesn't matter," Zhang Dechun asked cautiously.
Gu Cheng, who was usually laid-back and casual, had also become cautious, "Um, shall I take you for a ride on my motorcycle? It's really exhilarating, it'll definitely make you forget that scumbag completely!"
Shu Xia chuckled: "I'm fine."
"Really?" the two asked in unison.
"If I weren't fine, I wouldn't have posted on my Moments."
"That's good, that's good."
Shu Xia looked at the two of them, her heart warming, "I'll go wash my hands first, then start the restoration work."
While Shu Xia went to wash her hands, Zhang Dechun and Gu Cheng talked in low voices.
