Chapter 114: Leng Wanqiu's End of Days: She Has Already Been Abandoned by All
The period during which Leng Wanqiu was dumbfounded.
Her Second Uncle kept on ranting, and from the other end of the phone came the sound of arguing, furious roars, and cold laughter.
The sheer volume of information was simply too great; Leng Wanqiu found it somewhat hard to accept.
She frantically hung up the phone.
After the call was cut, the caller ID on her phone kept ringing nonstop; the once ordinary ringtone now gave Leng Wanqiu a feeling like a death warrant.
Her mind was a tangled mess, and inside her heart the panic had reached its absolute peak.
She even harbored a kind of fantasy.
Hoping that everything that had just happened was merely an illusion.
Although Second Uncle's cursing was unpleasant to hear, it was not enough to make Leng Wanqiu lose her composure; what truly made Leng Wanqiu feel fear and trembling was a single sentence from Second Uncle.
First Granduncle has been removed from power!
That sentence was simply a bolt from the blue!
In Leng Wanqiu's ears, it was like thunder exploding!
Who is Leng Wanqiu's greatest backing?
Who is the Leng Family's greatest backing?
If within a pride of lions, the lion king suddenly drops dead, then the fate awaiting the old, the weak, the women and children of the pride will surely be utterly tragic.
This is something the Leng Family cannot bear!
Leng Wanqiu bears it even less!
Fake, fake! This must be fake!
But the constantly ringing phone was ceaselessly reminding Leng Wanqiu how utterly real all of this was!
She suddenly could not face it!
Leng Wanqiu collapsed to the ground, sobbing uncontrollably!
Like a small "mountain of flesh" toppling over, letting out a tremendous rumbling crash.
Anxious, helpless, scared, terrified…
In just a few short minutes, Leng Wanqiu had completely lost the arrogance and overbearing air she'd had moments ago.
"Why? Why?"
"How could First Granduncle possibly be removed from power? And so suddenly, without even the slightest warning?"
"Second Uncle said my dad's leg was broken by First Granduncle, said my mom wants to kill herself?"
"This isn't real, it isn't real!"
"Second Uncle said all of this is because of me—how could that be!"
When a skyscraper suddenly collapses, the people living inside, no matter how lofty their status or how superior their material conditions, are at this moment nothing more than ants clinging to life.
Leng Wanqiu could not get up.
Her body had completely lost its strength; even her calves, thick as a wild boar's, could no longer support her enormous weight.
Collapsed on the floor, Leng Wanqiu's brain was running at its absolute limit, as she reviewed everything she had done in recent days…
But there was no answer at all!
Who could she, Leng Wanqiu, possibly have offended?
And who could possibly have such tremendous ability?
Unless…
After ruling out every impossibility, no matter how absurd and inconceivable the remaining possibility might be.
That is the truth!
There is only one truth!
"Is it the Song Family's counterattack? If the Song Family were that powerful, how could I have suppressed them so easily?"
"No, no, what other possibility is there…"
"Could it be… Song Mo?"
Leng Wanqiu now had no other choice!
With the attitude of treating a dead horse as if it were still alive, she struggled to get up, and using the landline on the office desk (her mobile had been blocked by Song Mo), she tremblingly dialed Song Mo's number.
"Hello?"
From the other end of the phone came a cool, clear male voice.
Very pleasant to hear; just moments ago, Leng Wanqiu had still been fantasizing in her heart:
Once she had completely taken down the Song Family, she would make that cold, aloof voice say shameful things to her;
She would make Song Mo's aloof, handsome face show an expression of disdain mixed with helplessness;
She would force Song Mo to play all sorts of games she wanted to play;
She would satisfy the desires she had repressed for over twenty years!
But now.
In a trembling voice, Leng Wanqiu said:
"H-hello, Song Mo."
There was a brief silence on the other end of the line, and then the call was hung up.
Leng Wanqiu wanted to call back, only to find that the number had been blocked once again.
She ought to have been furious, but under the weight of extreme terror, she could not summon even a shred of anger.
Leng Wanqiu collapsed back down, her whole body crashing heavily into the recliner.
She suddenly felt it hard to breathe.
Heaved heavy, ragged breaths.
That fat body was never meant to endure such intense physical exertion, let alone with a nervous system rattled by sudden shocks and terror, making the heart beat even faster?
No time to deal with the Song Family.
Leng Wanqiu had set her phone to Do Not Disturb, so she called her father on the landline.
The call rang for a long time, but no one answered.
After it connected, Leng Wanqiu hadn't even spoken when she heard pained moans from inside the hospital.
Her nerves tightened further!
"Hello, may I ask if you are the patient's family member?"
"The patient is currently in surgery; please call back later."
The nurse quickly finished speaking and hung up abruptly.
Leng Wanqiu held the receiver, frozen for a long time, utterly helpless.
She called her mother next.
"Who?"
The line connected; the woman's voice was utterly cold.
A kind of profound despair, as if she had already entertained thoughts of suicide, a complete indifference to life.
Leng Wanqiu felt afraid.
In her memory, her mother had always been gentle; since childhood, because of her strange illness and the shame it brought, it was her mother who encouraged her, enabling her to later rise up and become the head of the Leng Group.
But today, her mother felt utterly alien.
"Mom, it's Wanqiu."
Leng Wanqiu spoke timidly.
It felt as if she had returned to her shy, self-isolated childhood.
And the moment she spoke those words, it was as if she had ignited a bomb— the previously calm woman suddenly erupted.
The woman's shrill voice vibrated against Leng Wanqiu's eardrums.
At the same time, it echoed through the empty office via the speaker.
"You fucking bitch!!!"
"I should never have given birth to you! How could I have borne such a monster! You ungrateful wretch!"
"Why are you trying to destroy your father? Why are you trying to destroy me?"
"You're a curse, a bringer of misfortune! You've doomed the entire Leng Family!"
"Because of you, every single person in the family now wishes my husband and I were dead—I'll never have the face to meet our ancestors in the afterlife!"
"Monster! How many people have you killed?"
"You've driven your auntie to her death with sheer rage!"
Leng Wanqiu stood frozen, like a statue.
At this moment, even fear had vanished from her.
She was like a lifeless puppet.
Or a human whose soul had been violently ripped away by a demon.
Her mother's insults echoed in her ears.
She felt abandoned by the world.
Even when she had been mocked and bullied before, at least her mother never rejected her—her mother had always been her harbor.
But now, she had lost that harbor forever.
The woman's sharp curses never ceased, yet Leng Wanqiu never hung up—she simply stood there, silently listening to her mother's abuse and curses.
The insults had stopped at some point.
Leng Wanqiu heard her mother's final words.
The words were cold and desolate.
"Don't come back to the Leng Family. Take care of yourself from now on."
