Chapter 5
【It's actually very simple to tell if someone is faking unconsciousness】
【A slightly more complicated method is to use instruments for detection】
【But the simplest way is to blow air unexpectedly onto their eyes—someone truly unconscious or asleep won't react at all, while a faker will instinctively squeeze their eyes shut】
【I heard Lin Weiwei is a master's student in medicine? What a load of bullshit—didn't she just use the Lin Family's connections to get in and glide through graduation?】
The Modu Lin Family is also a local power in Modu.
They are no less formidable than the An Family.
But this little thing, Lin Weiwei, just happens to dislike business—she prefers medicine, and even quietly works as a campus doctor at university.
Song Mo's inner voice echoed again in her mind.
Lin Weiwei was now staring at him.
She realized this cute guy hadn't opened his mouth once, and found it utterly astonishing.
But her current emotion was mostly anger.
He actually said she got her master's through connections?
What does that mean!?
Lin Weiwei gritted her teeth—she was determined to slap his face hard!
Lin Weiwei's expression was calm; she feigned a careful examination of Chen Xi, her brows slightly furrowed, as if sensing something amiss.
Seeing Lin Weiwei frown, An Yinuo panicked.
"Doctor, is there something wrong with Chen Xi's body?"
"Not at all," Lin Weiwei said grimly.
"It's just…"
"Just what?" An Yinuo urged anxiously.
Lin Weiwei suddenly blew a puff of air at Chen Xi's eyes.
Chen Xi's eyelids instinctively snapped shut.
"So it's true!" Lin Weiwei realized—Chen Xi was actually faking unconsciousness?
But how did Song Mo know?
Song Mo didn't need to test him—he knew Chen Xi's nature too well! If this kid wasn't faking, then there'd be something wrong with the world.
【Huh? When did Lin Weiwei get so sharp? Isn't the Lin Family's eldest daughter supposed to be a naive, airheaded medical student?】
Song Mo was surprised.
Lin Weiwei was secretly pleased.
Hey, kid, let's see you be shocked now.
But then she heard Song Mo calling her a naive airhead… You damn bastard, you're the one who got brainwashed by medicine!
Lin Weiwei glared at Song Mo.
Song Mo was utterly confused.
Then Lin Weiwei's expression turned icy as she looked at Chen Xi on the bed and replied to An Yinuo:
"Your classmate's condition is serious…"
"Ah?" An Yinuo covered her delicate mouth, her eyes filled with worry.
"Chen Xi won't be this unlucky, will he? His family background is already poor—if he develops some serious illness… he already has Yu Yu Syndrome… what are we going to do?"
"Song Mo! If Chen Xi so much as sneezes wrong, you'll be responsible for his next life!"
An Yinuo snapped angrily.
It was Song Mo's aggressive behavior that drove Chen Xi to fall ill.
"Heh."
Song Mo thought An Family's eldest daughter really needed a brain checkup.
"I wonder if Lin Weiwei can treat brain disorders?"
Lin Weiwei shot Song Mo a silent, irritated side-eye.
An Yinuo glared at him furiously.
Lin Weiwei snapped: "Student! How much longer are you going to keep faking?!"
The sudden sharp shout startled Chen Xi badly.
His shoulders involuntarily jerked.
An Yinuo stared at Lin Weiwei in shock.
"Doctor, why are you yelling at a patient?"
Lin Weiwei ignored her and said sternly: "The campus medical room is for treating sick students—not for wasting time on fakers!"
"Do you think I can't tell if you're faking unconsciousness?"
An Yinuo stared at Lin Weiwei in shock.
Chen Xi was faking unconsciousness?
At the same time,
Shit! I've been found out!
The thought struck Chen Xi like lightning.
But now he was trapped—too far in to back out.
If he admitted he was faking, he'd lose all face—and worse, An Yinuo might hate him.
An Yinuo was already on the path to being conquered by him—he couldn't let this ruin everything!
Chen Xi reacted quickly.
He opened his eyes as if waking from a dream, gazing at Lin Weiwei with a dazed expression.
"Doctor? What happened just now?"
"I can't quite remember what happened. It feels like… I fainted? When I came to, I heard a loud noise…"
Lin Weiwei gave Chen Xi a long look but said nothing.
This gave Chen Xi time to breathe and act.
He apologized to An Yinuo, "Sorry, monitor, I fainted just now, but I woke up quickly—no serious harm done. I'm sorry for worrying you."
"As long as you're fine, Chen Xi, that's all that matters," An Yinuo waved her hand.
Song Mo stayed silent, manipulating his phone to send a message.
Song Mo: Classmate, did you get the surveillance footage I asked you to pull up?
Xia Rou: Already done, Song Mo. The footage shows you only washed your hands at the sink outside—never entered the restroom at all.
Song Mo: Thank you, Xia Rou.
Xia Rou: It's nothing, Song Mo. You're a good person—I knew you wouldn't do something like that.
Song Mo: Thanks. Tomorrow I'll treat you to a milk tea, Xia Rou.
Xia Rou was the girl who spoke up for Song Mo in the crowd. After Chen Xi pretended to faint, Song Mo found Xia Rou in the class group and asked her to retrieve the surveillance footage.
Chen Xi was still performing.
Song Mo grabbed An Yinuo by the arm.
Showed her the surveillance video recorded on his phone.
"An Yinuo, can this now prove my innocence?"
An Yinuo carefully watched the entire video.
Though hard to believe, the evidence was right there—she had no choice but to accept it.
So it really wasn't Song Mo?
He only washed his hands outside the restroom—never entered. Naturally, he couldn't have locked Chen Xi inside.
An Yinuo was now embarrassed.
So she had truly misunderstood Song Mo?
Song Mo looked at Chen Xi with a faint, knowing smile.
"Chen Xi, do you still think I locked you in the restroom? You've been accusing me all along—like you've had it out for me!"
Chen Xi's expression instantly turned pitiful.
"I'm sorry! Song Mo, I misunderstood you."
"But when I was in the restroom, I only heard your voice—so I assumed it was you…"
"Stop. Stop. Stop." Song Mo cut off Chen Xi's lament.
He asked: "The surveillance shows several classmates came and went from the restroom during the time you were locked in."
"Why didn't you call one of them to open the door?"
Chen Xi fell silent.
But if you think this ends it,
you're terribly wrong.
Chen Xi wept: "I was afraid. I know I'm an orphan—because of my background, everyone looks down on me. Everyone bullies me… I deserve to be locked in the restroom… waaah…"
That soft, delicate boy's voice, filled with raw emotional outpouring, made anyone instinctively want to comfort him.
An Yinuo struggled for a long time.
Finally, she accused Song Mo:
"Song Mo, Chen Xi just made a mistake. You've already proven your innocence—why keep pressing him so hard?"
"You're facing a victim!"
