Chapter 100: Zhao Xiaoli, Who Dug the Wall Corner, and Su Mingyue, Who Got Dug a Pit

~7 min read 1,299 words

Chen Yang decided not to worry about the acquisition of Red Star Food Processing Factory for now. Because Shen Anna told him she had already found someone to conduct due diligence. Before the investigation report came out, he didn't need to have a pointless argument with Lin Wei.

After leaving Xinhe Building, Chen Yang drove Lin Wei to the Sunshine Garden Community supermarket, letting her gather with her aunt's family to cultivate their feelings.

Then Chen Yang drove alone to the real estate agency he co-owned with Zhao Xiaoli.

Though called a company, it was actually just a shop made of two storefronts. Moreover, these two storefronts were bought by Chen Yang earlier, saving him rent.

What surprised Chen Yang was that Zhao Xiaoli's company still had several familiar faces. If his memory served him right, they were all her subordinates from the Sunshine Garden Community sales office.

「Zhao Xiaoli, my good Manager Zhao, you've poached all of Liu Shijie's employees—how am I supposed to face him later? 」 Chen Yang had a slight headache.

Zhao Xiaoli laughed and said: 「Manager Chen, don't worry, I already greeted Manager Liu in advance. 」

Hearing that, Chen Yang was a bit surprised, thinking, "Have all the houses in Sunshine Garden Community been sold?"

Seeing Chen Yang doubtful, Zhao Xiaoli explained further: "The houses in Sunshine Garden Community are mostly sold, and Manager Liu hasn't found a new project; even if I didn't poach people, the company would find an excuse to lay off staff."

Chen Yang thought that made sense—capitalists don't keep idle workers. Not to mention Liu Shijie; if he were the boss, he'd have to lay people off too.

Moreover, Liu Shijie's next project is in Clear Water; to facilitate business, they'll definitely look for salespeople familiar with the environment there.

Chen Yang walked around the shop, saw no issues, and prepared to leave.

Zhao Xiaoli rarely got a visit from Chen Yang; seeing him just glance and leave, she felt uneasy. "Manager Chen, at least give me some advice?"

Chen Yang thought, then pointed to the rental and sale advertisements in the shop and said: "Buy a camera! Information with actual objects and scenes generates more interest."

Zhao Xiaoli had also considered buying a camera, but after looking around the digital store she changed her mind. "Manager Chen, cameras are a bit pricey; why not borrow your personal camera for just a day? That would be enough."

"Once the company's business picks up, there will be many places needing a camera. It's not worth saving money on this!" Chen Yang's camera contained Lin Wei's private photos; he would never lend it, even if it killed him.

Seeing Chen Yang insist on buying a new camera, Zhao Xiaoli could only nod in agreement. The company account had 100,000 yuan; after deducting the renovation costs of these few days, there was still over 90,000 left—more than enough to cover daily operations.

"Manager Chen, we plan to open on Monday; do you have time to come for the ribbon-cutting?"

"No time at all!" Chen Yang shook his head and frankly told Zhao Xiaoli: "I give you the money and shares to manage this place precisely because I don't want to worry about it."

Zhao Xiaoli didn't insist. Starting the company was her idea; Chen Yang willing to put in money and resources already makes him a responsible good boss.

Chen Yang feared Zhao Xiaoli might have mental burdens, so he added: "If you encounter any unsolvable difficulty, feel free to call me anytime."

Zhao Xiaoli nodded gratefully.

Chen Yang waved goodbye to Zhao Xiaoli, then returned to the Sunshine Garden Community supermarket. However, Lin Wei wasn't there; after asking Chen Chunmei, he learned she had taken Zhong Lin and Zhao Qian out shopping.

Bored and idle, Chen Yang drove straight back to his rented place and lay down for a while.

After sleeping about an hour, the phone rang—it was Su Mingyue calling. She and Liu Qingqing had returned from shopping, saw Chen Yang's car parked downstairs, and asked if he had time to discuss stock investment.

Chen Yang had been spending a lot lately; his account balance was already below a small target. He actually still had an interest in dipping into the stock market to make some connections.

However, the stocks Su Mingyue recommended this time were unlike before—all were volatile speculative stocks. Chen Yang carefully recalled and found none of them were legitimate; thus it was impossible to play.

"Su Mingyue, are these few stocks the ones you favor, or were they recommended by someone else?"

"It's the advice from that senior who previously recommended Yun Cheng Bio."

"Did he buy any?"

"No! He said it was just a suggestion, whether to buy or not is up to me to decide." Seeing Chen Yang's stern expression, Su Mingyue cautiously asked: "Is there some problem?"

Chen Yang had been ruined by speculative stocks many times in his past life, leaving a psychological shadow. Moreover, the stocks Su Mingyue recommended were all at high points, liable to drop to the bottom at any moment. "That senior of yours has no good intentions!"

Su Mingyue frowned slightly; these past days Ma Chaoyun had recommended over a dozen stocks to her, with disappointing results and inactive trading volume. Today's few stocks, two of them suddenly hit the limit-up at the closing auction. She had even regretted missing the chance to enter earlier. After hearing Chen Yang's words and looking at the trading situation of those two stocks, she felt it was like a trap deliberately set by the manipulators.

Su Mingyue suddenly couldn't understand. Every day she brought tea and water to Ma Chaoyun, entertained guests with meals, and offered her utmost sincerity to thank him for his advice. She never expected the return to be a sinister scheme.

"Chen Yang, do you think these few stocks all have problems?"

"I don't know; I'm not very knowledgeable about stocks, I just feel there's a problem but can't articulate why."

"Can you stop pretending? You also studied finance, right?" Su Mingyue gave Chen Yang a sideways glance; no novice would put all their assets into a single stock and happen to cash out at the peak.

Chen Yang laughed: "Anyway, I won't buy it."

Su Mingyue let out a faint sigh. Since Chen Yang wouldn't buy, it meant the stocks definitely had problems. Her emotional investment in Ma Chaoyun during this period amounted to nothing.

Su Mingyue felt a bit unwilling and resentfully said: "Chen Yang, could you get a few people to beat up the Ma surname guy?"

Chen Yang said: "You should look for Zhang Jun on this; he's the expert."

Su Mingyue pursed her lips, looking disgusted: "Don't mention that addict, it's sickening!"

Chen Yang suddenly thought of something and asked Su Mingyue: "Has Zhao Shunfa contacted you?"

Su Mingyue hesitated, then nodded: "He asked me to borrow two thousand yuan to go south, saying he wanted to work and repay the money to you."

Chen Yang pressed: "Are you sure he went south?"

Su Mingyue nodded, very certain: "I personally saw him onto the train. He was going to Shen City."

Chen Yang exhaled in relief. At last, that trouble was gone.

Su Mingyue looked at Chen Yang with some worry, carefully explaining: "He knelt at my company's gate begging me, crying bitterly, and even brought over the company's coworkers. I had no choice but to lend him money. You won't be angry, will you?"

Chen Yang shook his head. Zhao Shunfa, a proper seven-foot-tall man, daring to kneel and ask a woman for help—he must be utterly desperate. If Su Mingyue didn't help him, he might encounter an accident.

Since Zhao Shunfa went south, their grudge can be considered settled.
