Chapter 132: Shuangxi Supermarket's Cooperation Business

~7 min read 1,400 words

Chen Yang just got out of the airport when he received a call from Yexin, saying that the stocks of Xingcheng Heavy Industry and Xinfei Technology had dropped at the opening, and asking him to go to Dongjiang Securities.

Chen Yang guessed they were unwilling to give up, wanting to wade in and fish in troubled waters. Perhaps they hadn't settled on a clear plan during the meeting, so they wanted him to act as an advisor.

This matter, Chen Yang actually didn't want to get involved. The stock market is inherently unpredictable. In his previous life, he often experienced a situation: when he expected it to rise, it kept falling; when he expected it to fall, it kept rising. Always contrary to his expectations.

Chen Yang traded Xingcheng Heavy Industry because he knew the upper and lower limits of its stock price. But he had already made a lot of money from this stock, not only attracting big players like Yexin into the market, but also drawing in the four major institutions. At this point, the stock's movement had actually slipped beyond his control.

Chen Yang letting Su Mingyue rest was actually out of worry that he might lose his forecast of the market's future trend. If the worst happened, it would likely drag Su Mingyue and Liu Shijie down as well.

So he decided to take a break for a while, wait until these big capitals finish their tossing, then re‑examine the future trend of Xingcheng Heavy Industry. If it returns to its former stable phase, he'll just play a little; if the rhythm gets chaotic, he'll focus on his business wholeheartedly.

Chen Yang still went to Dongjiang Securities. He could refrain from giving advice, but if he saw the situation getting out of hand, out of friendship he ought to offer a word of counsel. Whether they listened or not was another matter.

However, when Chen Yang entered the large‑client room, Zhuo Wenyuan was already directing everyone to top up their positions in Xinfei Technology. He seemed unwilling to miss this money‑making opportunity, his excitement unusually high. Seeing Chen Yang come in, he immediately said, "Chen Yang, Xinfei Technology has hit the limit down; you should also add to your position!"

Chen Yang shook his head and asked Zhuo Wenyuan, "President Zhuo, has the cooperation between Xinfei Technology and the Liu Clan Group been officially announced?"

Zhuo Wenyuan stared for a moment, then countered Chen Yang, "Shouldn't you be the one to ask about the Liu Clan Group's matter?"

Chen Yang asked him, "My friend never said the Liu Clan Group agreed to cooperate with Xinfei Technology! You're just hyping a rumor that was leaked in advance—how long can you keep trading on it?"

Zhuo Wenyuan immediately fell into deep thought.

Chen Yang added, "I've already given the warning I should; I only hope my judgment is wrong!"

Seeing Zhuo Wenyuan hesitate, Yexin immediately withdrew the buy order she had just placed. Then she told Chen Yang, "Give Liu Shijie a call and have him inquire further."

Chen Yang, to make them lose hope, called Liu Shijie on speakerphone. The latter gave no definite answer, merely saying, "The Liu Clan Group will issue an announcement this afternoon."

Upon hearing that, Chen Yang immediately told Zhuo Wenyuan and the others to withdraw their buy orders. Because he and Liu Shijie had prearranged a code: if the cooperation failed, they would say "The Liu Clan Group will issue an announcement this afternoon"; if it succeeded, they would say "I'm not clear on the group's internal affairs—you should ask someone else."

Huang Bai Ming, hearing they were to abandon adding to their positions, felt a bit dissatisfied. "Are we just giving up like that? What if this afternoon's announcement is favorable?"

Chen Yang said, "Do whatever you want; I'm already out of the market and resting."

Seeing Chen Yang's firm attitude, Yexin also gave up the idea of adding to her position. Everyone present who traded stocks had, to some extent, gone through a market slump—except Chen Yang, who had never missed a beat.

Zhuo Wenyuan summoned several senior consultants from Dongjiang Securities to analyze Xinfei Technology's trend. The results were not very optimistic. So he also gave up, telling everyone to rest first and wait for the Liu Clan Group's announcement this afternoon.

Seeing they had stopped, Chen Yang prepared to leave, but Huang Bai Ming held him back, insisting he wait for the Liu Clan Group's news before offering any opinion.

Chen Yang disagreed, and Huang Bai Ming said, "President Chen, if you help us get through this crisis, we'll give all the purchasing orders for our supermarket's fresh‑produce section to your company."

Chen Yang laughed, "If you already feel it's a calamity, why do you still want me to come up with ideas?"

Huang Bai Ming said, "I've already handed over our company's business to you for free—what's the harm in waiting another two hours?"

Chen Yang spoke sternly, "President Huang, public is public, private is private. If our two companies' cooperation isn't mutually beneficial, then it's meaningless."

Actually, over the past two days Huang Bai Ming had also surveyed the products and prices of the ordinary‑people's agricultural‑products supermarket; they were indeed good value and high quality. But he had already soured his relationship with Shen Anna, so directly discussing cooperation was a bit awkward; he could only work through Chen Yang. "Chen Yang, if we cooperate, will Shen Anna have any objections?"

Chen Yang pointed to Yexin and said, "You need to talk about this with Sister Xin; their relationship is the strongest. As the company chairman, I'm very willing to cooperate with you."

Huang Bai Ming immediately smiled at Yexin, a hint of anticipation in his eyes. "President Ye, I still have a bottle of 1982 Lafite; would you and President Shen be interested in trying it?"

Yexin hadn't expected Huang Bai Ming to be so generous; she laughed, "If you'd had this awareness earlier, it would have been great. Unfortunately Anna doesn't want to talk about romance now, and I can't do anything about it."

Huang Bai Ming immediately said, "Discussing business is fine too."

"All right!" Yexin thought this was Huang Bai Ming's renewed strategy to pursue Shen Anna, she nodded and said, "I'll do my best to put in a good word for you; whether it succeeds depends on your fate."

Huang Bai Ming repeatedly expressed his thanks.

Having heard Shen Anna's evaluation of Huang Bai Ming, Chen Yang thought that if they talked about feelings, that bottle of Lafite would be wasted. Still, he hoped the business could be settled. After all, Huang Bai Ming's Shuangxi Supermarket has branches in every city of Dongjiang Province, including Qingshui City.

Time flew by; at 2:10 p. m. the Liu Clan Group's announcement finally came out. It plainly stated that Xinfei Technology's production process still didn't meet their standards, and they had no intention of cooperating for the time being.

As soon as the news came out, Xinfei Technology's stock sat frozen at the limit down. The trading column was filled with sell orders, and there were no buyers at all.

As the leader, Zhuo Wenyuan felt a bit embarrassed facing this situation; he angrily slapped himself hard.

Yexin comforted him, "President Zhuo, victory and defeat are ordinary matters in warfare. Just think of it as us earning a little less over the past two days."

Huang Bai Ming also said apologetically to Zhuo Wenyuan, "It's all my fault; I shouldn't have been greedy for that little profit."

Zhao Feiyang then said, "Everyone, don't worry; tomorrow some institution will surely push the price up a bit—we'll sell as much as the situation allows."

Zhuo Wenyuan sighed; at this point the only thing to do was cut losses promptly. He looked gratefully at Chen Yang and said, "President Chen, thanks for your reminder—otherwise we would have suffered huge losses today."

Chen Yang waved his hand, saying, "We're friends—thanks would be too formal. Actually I was also worried that if the stock rose, you'd blame me…"

Zhuo Wenyuan gave a wry smile, "The facts prove your view was correct. From now on we'll still listen to you."

"No!" Chen Yang shook his head, "I'm planning to take a break for a while and temporarily not pay attention to the stock market."

Zhuo Wenyuan was once again speechless.
