Chapter 16: Enrollment
Inside the brightly lit Law School teaching building.
"What? Shen Yan, you want to change your major?"
Hearing this sudden news, Yu Youwei felt a jolt through her body and mind.
At this moment, Yu Youwei felt an invisible barrier had risen between her and Shen Yan.
She knew that previously, no matter what Shen Yan encountered, he would share it with her immediately; now, however, he was becoming increasingly opinionated, making decisions on his own even for something as major as changing his major.
Clearly, the way the two of them got along was still so natural, so harmonious.
For some reason, Yu Youwei felt an inexplicable sense of emptiness in her heart.
"In recent years, the pass rate for the Law Exam has not exceeded 15%. If conditions allow, I would actually prefer to go to the finance class; the academic pressure isn't as high."
Shen Yan explained casually, then turned his head to look at Huang Shuren.
Huang Shuren was slightly taken aback, but not too surprised. For high-difficulty majors like law, there were examples of students changing majors every year; he was long since accustomed to it.
"Student Shen Yan, the school does indeed allow applications to change majors, but according to the regulations, you can only apply next semester, and there are certain requirements regarding grades."
"Is that so!" Shen Yan was somewhat disappointed. As far as he knew, as long as the conditions were met, most institutions allowed students to apply for a change of major as soon as school started.
By comparison, Hangzhou University seemed overly rigid.
Yu Youwei secretly rejoiced, pulled Shen Yan along as she walked outside, and did not forget to brainwash him at the same time.
"So what if the Law Exam pass rate is low? There are many non-professionals, and a large portion are from those second or third-rate institutions. You are so smart, passing the Law Exam is a piece of cake for you."
"Study for half a year first, maybe you'll become interested in law."
Seeing Shen Yan lacked interest, Yu Youwei finally used reverse psychology, saying that she, a girl, wasn't afraid of being tired, so why was he, a grown man, still shrinking back? How cowardly! He couldn't endure even the slightest hardship.
Shen Yan rolled his eyes silently.
Things had reached this point, and there were no other options anyway.
Might as well study it for now.
Returning to the canopy area, Luo Qiqi called over a sophomore senior who specialized in processing cards to activate the campus cards for the two of them; they didn't even need to choose their numbers.
In fact, after every freshman was admitted by the school, the corresponding phone card would be issued along with the admission letter, equivalent to a binding relationship; whether to activate it was decided by the individual.
With the commission in hand, Luo Qiqi did not discard the helper once the task was done; instead, she enthusiastically led Yu Youwei toward the dormitory, with Shen Yan being the one brought along for the ride.
After walking for five minutes, heading west along the library, passing through the canteen, and crossing the pedestrian bridge, what came into view were rows of brand-new dormitory buildings.
They were six stories high.
Additionally, Shen Yan noticed that a bike shed had been built on the left side of the pedestrian bridge, with various electric scooters parked underneath, and charging facilities were fully equipped.
The school was so large, and he would be staying for four years, so Shen Yan felt it was necessary to buy an electric scooter; that way, daily travel to class would be more convenient.
Arriving at the 9th Dormitory Building, today was the freshman registration day, and boys could enter and exit without registration.
After getting the key from the dormitory manager, and finally climbing to the sixth floor, Yu Youwei was already panting for breath.
"My god! Which bastard arranged the accommodation? Climbing up and down like this every day will surely tire me to death."
Luo Qiqi complained along with her; unfortunately, she was also assigned to the sixth floor, in the same dormitory as Yu Youwei.
Fate is always wondrous.
By contrast, Shen Yan, with a suitcase in his left hand and a storage bag in his right, climbing six floors without turning red or panting, appeared quite exaggerated.
"Student Shen Yan seems to have great stamina. In the future, any physical labor in the class will depend on you," Luo Qiqi praised.
"Judging by your tone, it seems you intend to run for class monitor?"
"That's not it; I like money, the life committee member position suits me better."
"Sorry! I'm a rather lazy person; I have no interest in being a coolie."
Uh...
That indifferent tone left Luo Qiqi full of astonishment; how could this person not play by the rules?
No matter what, she was a beauty; under normal circumstances, shouldn't he be patting his chest and agreeing wholeheartedly?
The scene was somewhat awkward for a moment.
Yu Youwei irritably patted Shen Yan's arm and said, "Can't you change this foul temper of yours? Isn't contributing to the class a matter of course?"
"Qiqi, don't mind him. His personality is just like this; he doesn't talk much, and he looks cold on the outside, but after you get to know him, you'll find he's actually quite easy to get along with."
Luo Qiqi nodded and didn't say anything more.
Shen Yan shrugged; he wasn't targeting anyone, he was just speaking the truth.
That kind of thankless physical labor—whoever wants to do it can do it.
The door to the 602 Dormitory was wide open.
Having just put down her luggage, before her butt was even warm, Wu Yue'er, who was gulping down water, noticed someone entering and turned her head subconsciously.
"Cough, cough, cough!"
The next moment, she sprayed two jets of water from her nostrils in surprise, and her whole body began to cough violently.
Shen Yan's expression became playful; the Dongbei Huniu also lived in this dormitory?
He had a feeling the next four years of university life would be quite interesting.
At this time, Wu Yue'er was no longer in her previous outfit; she had changed into a white camisole on top and blue denim shorts on the bottom, her long, fair legs particularly eye-catching.
Her figure was indeed perfect.
Yu Youwei's eyes widened, "Aren't you that unlucky person who was previously..."
She wanted to say "pissed on by a dog," but before she could finish, Wu Yue'er, who had just caught her breath, covered her mouth with her hand. Wu Yue'er first signaled with her eyes, then spoke: "That, the past is too painful to look back on. Give me some face, sister; let's just pretend that didn't happen, okay? I'll treat you to a meal later."
Yu Youwei understood and nodded, signaling her to let go.
Luo Qiqi noticed the strange reaction of the three and asked curiously, "Do you know each other?"
"Haha! Just a passing acquaintance, just a passing acquaintance," Wu Yue'er laughed somewhat awkwardly.
Thick-skinned as she was, she felt she couldn't handle this right now.
To have such an embarrassing scene seen by a roommate, he had lost all face.
Shen Yan swept his gaze across the dormitory; it was a standard six-person room, and it appeared the others had not yet arrived, so Shen Yan had no intention of staying long and said to Yu Youwei, "I'm going to check out the dorm first, call me if anything comes up."
However, just as he reached the stairwell, he saw that Northeastern Huniu chasing after him.
"Hey! Buddy, wait up."
Wu Yue'er rubbed her hands together, no longer using that rough Northeastern accent from before, and said in a gentle Mandarin tone: "Classmate, could you please not tell anyone about what happened at the school gate? It's quite embarrassing."
Tsk tsk! So this Huniu is actually quite gentle when she speaks properly.
Shen Yan glanced at her in surprise and said, "I'm not that kind of blabbermouth."
"Haha! Thanks! I heard you're also in the Law major, we're in the same class; my name is Wu Yue'er, from Shenyang, Liaoning."
Originally, Wu Yue'er had some opinions about this gloating boy, but at this moment, they completely vanished.
No choice! Good looks are justice!
"Shen Yan, from Wencheng, Zhe Province."
