Chapter 178: The First Snow

~8 min read 1,409 words

After the fun and games, the two wandered through the shopping mall. The man had always lacked interest in shopping, and Shen Yan was no exception; he just sat there looking at his phone, chatting with Hao Anqi from time to time.

Wu Yue'er, on the other hand, was in high spirits as she picked up various clothes to hold against herself, asking Shen Yan if they looked good.

"When the figure is on point, everything is just an accessory; when the looks are on point, whatever you wear is top-tier," Shen Yan said off the cuff.

"If you like it, have them wrap it up; I can still afford this much."

Upon hearing this, Wu Yue'er felt as if her whole being were soaked in a honey pot; she felt sweet inside and gave Shen Yan a fierce kiss on the cheek.

"Hubby, you're so good!"

The female sales clerk nearby felt as sour as if she had eaten a lemon, both jealous that Wu Yue'er was born as delicate and beautiful as a flower, and hating herself for not being able to find such a generous, handsome, and doting boyfriend.

After a round of shopping, the two had bags in their hands, with expenditures exceeding five thousand. Although this money was a drop in the bucket for Shen Yan, Wu Yue'er felt it wasn't good to be supported by a man like this.

If she wanted a man to be unable to leave her, she couldn't be like a vase, useless except for her beauty; she wanted to become a virtuous helpmate to Shen Yan and share his burdens as much as she could.

Walking out of the mall, Wu Yue'er asked Shen Yan what industry he planned to work in the future, or if he would just keep running his factory and online shop like this.

Shen Yan was slightly stunned. In fact, he was also considering this aspect. He was crystal clear about the development trends of the future, such as the shared bicycle industry, the entertainment industry, Pinduoduo, short videos, live-streaming platforms, and so on; making big money was not a difficult task.

If things went smoothly, in another half month, a large sum of capital would appear in his pocket, just in time to catch the demolition boom in the urban villages of Shanghai. He would prioritize buying property as much as possible, and as for the remaining money, he could think about where to put it to use.

"I haven't considered it yet; I'll observe the market conditions first."

Hearing this, Wu Yue'er said in a soft, sweet voice, "Why don't you find me something to do? I want to help you too."

Shen Yan was naturally happy in his heart that Wu Yue'er had this realization. "Wait until I open a company later, then I'll let you come help. As for now, you can enjoy your happy college days first."

Wu Yue'er readily agreed, as this was what she had been doing all along.

As everyone knows, it is not difficult to muddle through and get a college diploma. Plus, after enrolling, Wu Yue'er's mindset shifted, and she no longer had any intention of pursuing a career in law, so she had been in a state of being a "salted fish."

At worst, she could go be a full-time model after graduation; she wouldn't end up starving on the streets.

Now that she had found a safe harbor in Shen Yan, she had completely given up on striving—she just wanted to play. Work experience could be accumulated slowly after graduation.

Taking advantage of the early hour, the two went to the cinema to watch a movie, then ran to the Wulin Night Market to enjoy various snacks. Wu Yue'er gorged herself while worrying about getting fat.

She stuck out her tongue cutely from time to time; this seemed to be her habitual action.

At eleven o'clock at night, the night was deep and the streets were deserted. Occasionally, a car would speed past, leaving behind a piercing honk that intertwined with the gusts of cold wind whistling by, together converging into a strange and desolate symphony.

At this point in time, Chen Shanni was still not home; she planned to take a bus back to school early tomorrow morning to take the College English Test Band 4.

As soon as she entered the house, Wu Yue'er hugged Shen Yan and acted spoiled in every way. "After the exam tomorrow, will you keep me company again, okay?"

Shen Yan planted a kiss on her forehead, then moved downward—peach-blossom eyes, a glistening jade nose, delicate and fragrant cheeks—and then sucked gently on her exquisite earlobe. He said softly, "Be good, baby! You know about Qiqi... I'm really exhausted with you like this."

"Actually, I'm quite timid. After such a thing happened, I've been on pins and needles, terrified that our relationship will be discovered. You should try to understand me, okay?"

Treated with such tenderness, Wu Yue'er felt soft all over, her breathing rapid. After two days of entanglement, her love for Shen Yan was burning like a raging fire; she couldn't bear to part with him, and she didn't want Shen Yan to go keep Hao Anqi company.

But Shen Yan's sigh and his exhausted appearance made her heart ache. She opened her mouth, wanting to say something, but in the end, she swallowed the words that had reached her lips.

She had completely sunk into Shen Yan's tenderness, unable to extricate herself. Not wanting to make Shen Yan unhappy, she could only softly say "Mm."

"Shen Yan, I really love you so much!"

"I know!"

Shen Yan turned his head to look at those red lips coated with orange-red lip glaze; they were shiny and as alluring as fresh, juicy jelly. He kissed them heavily.

Wu Yue'er opened her mouth and responded passionately, her feet inching forward, wishing she could knead her whole body into Shen Yan's.

The two kissed and nibbled at each other by the wall. Shen Yan was not a lecherous demon; he knew Wu Yue'er couldn't handle too much, so he didn't make any overly intimate moves.

After washing up, the two lay on the Large Bed in the guest bedroom. Wu Yue'er rested her head on Shen Yan's arm, her long legs draped over his lower abdomen, pestering him to talk.

"Hubby!"

"Mm!"

"Hubby!"

"What is it?"

"Just wanted to call you!"

The next day, Hangzhou welcomed the first snow of this cold winter. This snow was not as fierce and clamorous as the snowflakes in the north; instead, it was like a light dancer, dancing quietly with the wind.

It had a bit of the charm of "stealing into the night with the wind, moistening things silently."

When Shen Yan pulled back the curtains, snowflakes were drifting down sporadically. Perhaps because it hadn't been snowing for long, the colors in the residential complex hadn't changed; only the eaves and tree branches were dotted with specks of white, like an elegant ink wash painting.

Hangzhou is located in the north of Zhe Province, while Cangnan is in the southernmost part of Zhe Province. Although both are in Zhe Province, their climates are worlds apart; Hangzhou sees snowflakes dancing almost every year.

But Cangnan is different. It is located on the southeast coast and is greatly influenced by the oceanic climate, so it rarely has the chance to see the figure of the Snow Maiden.

Seeing the scene of snowflakes dancing for the first time, Shen Yan couldn't help but feel a little excited. Wu Yue'er came to the window, but for her, having seen heavy snow often, she lost interest after just a few casual glances.

She said to Shen Yan, full of expectation, "The noodles are cooked; come and try my handiwork."

Eating the steaming hot noodles, Shen Yan did not stint on his praise and gave Wu Yue'er a thumbs up.

"Very good, you've truly mastered the essence of this master chef."

"Hee hee!" Having received recognition, Wu Yue'er laughed very happily. She had just asked Shen Yan for advice, and after practicing it herself, the difference was obvious.

It turned out that a tiny difference in heat and time had such a big impact on the taste of noodles.

As the saying goes, there is an order to learning the Dao, and there are specialties in every trade; it is not without reason.
