Chapter 84: Making Up One's Mind
Room 801 next door, the second bedroom.
Moonlight spilled in from outside the window, silver rays lighting up the darkness and draping a mysterious veil over this silent night.
At two in the morning, Wu Yueer finished her shower and lay back on the bed, quietly playing with her phone; the faint light from the screen shone on her face, and at this moment, she vaguely heard the sound of sobbing.
"Youwei, you're still not asleep?"
Yu Youwei said nothing, only turning over to lean toward Wu Yueer and curling up into her arms.
Wu Yueer sighed softly; she could guess it was because of Shen Yan even with her eyes closed, likely related to that earlier outing to talk, so she said, "Shen Yan still decided to be with Hao Anqi?"
Yu Youwei gave a soft hum, saying quite indignantly, "Yue'er, do you think Shen Yan has been cursed? It's only been how long, and he's already been bewitched by that woman."
"After so many years of history between him and me, he actually didn't choose me."
In the dim environment, Wu Yueer shook her head helplessly; a little princess who grew up pampered by her family really is different—innocent, naive, and a novice at emotions.
Wu Yueer said, "I've had contact with that Hao Anqi; her personality is quite good, lively and cheerful, and she has a great figure and appearance. It's only natural that Shen Yan would be moved."
Yu Youwei pursed her lips, seemingly very displeased to hear someone praise Hao Anqi. Wu Yueer continued, saying that some things, once missed, are hard to have a chance to save, so you should try to be open-minded; eating and drinking as you should and throwing yourself into your studies wouldn't be bad either.
"It would be bad!"
Yu Youwei remained stubborn, believing that Shen Yan should have been hers and was only intercepted halfway; if not for Hao Anqi, she and Shen Yan would have ended up together sooner or later.
The reason Shen Yan wasn't choosing her now was because she had done something wrong, always liking to impose her own thoughts on others, which was annoying; as long as she broke that habit, the two would return to how they were sooner or later.
Wu Yueer didn't know whether to laugh or cry; she had never seen someone so obstinate. Even without Hao Anqi, couldn't there be a Zhang An Qi, a Wang An Qi, or a Li An Qi?
Not to mention that there was still her, Wu Yueer.
She firmly believed that even without Hao Anqi, it was impossible for Shen Yan to choose to be with Yu Youwei; Shen Yan would only choose her, unwaveringly.
"Then what do you plan to do next? Break them up?" Wu Yueer asked curiously.
"I'm not doing anything! They're just in a relationship; there are plenty of people who date and break up now. Have you seen many couples get married after graduating from college? Even if there are, they're the minority. Besides, even if they marry, they can divorce. I don't think they can make it that far," Yu Youwei said very firmly.
If Yu Youwei's liking for Shen Yan was originally just a gentle breeze and calm water, it had now evolved into a surging flood that was impossible to stop, her intense competitive spirit having been ignited.
She was just going to have to win Shen Yan over.
After thinking these things through, Yu Youwei suddenly felt enlightened and stopped crying; immediately, a thick wave of sleepiness swept over her, and she began yawning incessantly.
Wu Yueer's eyes lit up. That's right! They are boyfriend and girlfriend now, deep in love, but who's to say they won't have a conflict one day?
Her heart was very small; once it was filled by one person, it could no longer hold anyone else. There might be many good men in the world, but who told her to happen upon Shen Yan?
Wu Yueer didn't like Shen Yan because of how handsome or rich he was. During the time she worked as a model, she came into contact with all kinds of people every day, including many rich and handsome men who wanted to pursue her or keep her as a mistress, all of whom she rejected flatly.
The reason was simple: she couldn't feel a shred of excitement.
But Shen Yan, at a special time, gave her a feeling no one else could. It wasn't that Shen Yan had everything she liked, but that she liked everything about Shen Yan.
The future is long; let's see who can have the last laugh!
Early the next morning, the alarm went off on time.
The group, bleary-eyed, didn't even have time to eat breakfast; they grabbed a few steamed buns from the roadside and rushed toward the teaching building while gnawing on them.
On the way, Shen Yan glanced at the nonchalant Yu Youwei, his mood relaxing involuntarily.
When he woke up, he had sent the answer he arrived at after thinking, and received a simple response: "Okay," as if nothing had ever happened.
Arriving at the classroom, dense, crowded gazes swept back and forth over the two of them, seemingly wanting to sniff out some scandal.
They were far too interested in the explosive news of the love triangle.
It was just a pity they gained nothing.
Shen Yan, however, was handsome to a new height today; a white shirt paired with jeans, a proper campus heartthrob. Many girls had infatuated expressions, staring blankly at Shen Yan.
He really is so handsome!
The boys felt as if they had eaten lemons, sour to the point of bubbling, but alas, one's looks are given by one's parents and cannot be changed.
As usual, Shen Yan sat down in the last row of the classroom. Xiao Chuchu sat on the other side wearing a miniskirt, inadvertently pulling at her hem and bending over to pick up a pen, revealing a graceful cleavage.
Shen Yan acted as if he hadn't noticed.
After the class ended, Shen Yan ran to several real estate agencies near the school to post a factory rental requirement: one thousand square meters in size...
With his career just starting, Shen Yan didn't intend to take such a big step; he would start with a hundred-person garment factory first. After all, he lacked experience, and he wanted to avoid any mishaps.
At seven in the evening, in the gentle night breeze, the bright moon quietly hid behind the clouds. The sky was dim, like a mist, giving people a dreamlike feeling.
At the Communication University of China teaching building, Hao Anqi ran out looking like a little sprite. Noticing Shen Yan's handsome attire, her eyes lit up, but her expression immediately turned from sunny to cloudy, and she chided, "Someone has finally finished being busy and remembered they still have a girlfriend."
As the saying goes, a day apart is like three autumns.
Hao Anqi had messaged Shen Yan right after class in the afternoon, wanting to eat together, but she hadn't expected Shen Yan to say he had things to be busy with again. Yesterday he had left her behind to enjoy a big meal alone and even went to sing karaoke until dawn; today she had almost missed seeing him again.
How miserable!
Shen Yan's mouth twitched. "You don't have to be like that. Couples can't be glued together every day; appropriate space is beneficial for the growth of a relationship."
Hao Anqi pouted, saying aggrievedly, "But I miss you."
Shen Yan helplessly rubbed his neck and said, "Forget it, let's not talk about this. I'll take you to eat something good." Hao Anqi immediately beamed with joy and indicated that it was her turn to drive this time. Shen Yan readily agreed, shifting his butt back to make room.
