Chapter 120: Living Apart in Two Places Is No Good
The spacious office was clean and natural, orderly yet not stifling; it was grand, wide, bright, well-organized, and tastefully arranged, while the bookshelves on the wall lent it a touch of sanctity.
Han Yangting smiled and said to her, "This is where I work. My place is your place; sit wherever you like."
Bai Shuruo was not about to sit; she noticed another door nearby and couldn't help but say, "Wow, there's a lounge inside, and even a kitchen."
There was another door next to the lounge; she pushed it open. "My goodness, there's even a recreation room and a gym. Brother Han, you really love fitness to have a place like this even in your office."
Han Yangting smiled and simply let her explore as she pleased.
He returned to his desk to handle official business.
Bai Shuruo was extremely excited now, looking here and there, feeling curious about everything she saw.
The kitchen had a refrigerator; she opened it to find it stuffed with drinks and fruit, as well as snacks like cereal and biscuits to stave off hunger.
Outside the kitchen was a small garden planted with all sorts of plants. In this season, the roses and peonies were in full bloom, along with purple lavender and tulips.
After finishing her tour of the outside, she returned to the office.
Seeing that Han Yangting was working, she didn't bother him, but instead looked around his office.
The bookshelves held many heavy English books, including reference books and some on philosophy.
So this was what Han Yangting liked to read in his spare time; no wonder he didn't like watching comedy movies.
She then looked at the small ornaments in the office, such as an elephant carved entirely from jade and a blue-and-white porcelain vase; they must have been collected from all over the world, and mixed together, they looked quite beautiful.
After watching for a while, Secretary Linda came in and brewed a cup of coffee for Bai Shuruo.
Bai Shuruo hurriedly said thank you.
She remembered when she first started working, she was the one doing the job of brewing and buying coffee for others; she never expected that now someone would be serving her coffee.
It was all thanks to Han Yangting.
This cup of coffee was not only fragrant with a rich coffee flavor, but it also had latte art on top, and it was very sweet, with plenty of sugar added.
Bai Shuruo just happened to like drinking sweet coffee; she couldn't drink it without sugar.
……
Han Yangting would look up at Bai Shuruo from time to time; seeing her having fun inside, he would smile occasionally.
By 10:00 in the morning, he finally looked up from his heavy workload and said to Bai Shuruo, "Ruoruo, I have a meeting in a moment. Do you want to come along?"
Bai Shuruo shook her head like a rattle: "No."
Han Yangting knew what she was thinking, so he said, "Are you worried that others will know you are my wife and then everyone will be staring at you?"
"Yes, that's exactly it," Bai Shuruo said.
Han Yangting smiled: "How about this: you follow Linda in later, then others won't know you are my wife. You can sit in the back and observe, and the company staff will think you are a new intern and won't pay you any mind."
Bai Shuruo thought this was a good idea, so she agreed.
……
Although she followed Linda in and even put on a show by carrying a notebook and pen, pretending to be there for the meeting, Bai Shuruo was still extremely nervous.
After entering, she found a seat in the very corner and sat down, then buried her head pretending to take notes, but she would glance at the people coming in for the meeting from time to time.
This conference table sat 20 people; judging by their attire and demeanor, those coming in must be the heads of their departments.
Ali also arrived. Ali sat in a position closer to the front; although he was wearing a suit, his every word and action remained rough. After arriving, he tossed his laptop in front of him and leaned back in his chair, shaking his legs.
Soon, everyone for the meeting had arrived, and Han Yangting was the last to enter.
Seeing Han Yangting, Bai Shuruo felt a tremor in her heart.
He was different from how she usually saw him; he was cold, stern, and radiated an aura of "strangers keep away."
But this version of him was quite imposing, and Bai Shuruo felt her heart stir just now.
It was completely different from the him who was inseparable and lingering in bed.
After Han Yangting sat down, he said softly, "Let's begin."
Then Ali began to present the content of the meeting, and each person took turns reporting their work.
Han Yangting sat with his arms crossed, listening attentively, occasionally interjecting to demand corrections.
There were also individual departments he criticized; his manner of criticizing others was imposing without anger, and whatever suggestions he made, the people below all felt they were reasonable.
Sitting in such a meeting, Bai Shuruo was also on pins and needles.
The meeting lasted for two hours in total. The attendees left one after another, and Linda came over to call Bai Shuruo, saying they could go.
Han Yangting and Ali were still in the conference room discussing something; Bai Shuruo didn't dare to disturb them, so she followed Linda back to the office first.
Upon reaching Han Yangting's office, Bai Shuruo heard movement in the kitchen behind it; she hurriedly went to take a look and found a chef cooking inside.
The chef saw her and couldn't help but say, "You must be President Han's wife. President Han said you love pine nut fish and asked me to come over and make it for you."
Bai Shuruo was moved once again.
He actually remembered every dish she liked to eat.
……
Lunch was eaten in the garden behind the office. The table was covered with a floral tablecloth and set with wine; in the center was a vase with beautiful flowers, which was very romantic—even more romantic than the Sky Restaurant in Fengcheng.
Han Yangting and Bai Shuruo sat facing each other. He took a sip of wine first, then asked, "Is the food to your liking?"
"Yes, it's delicious," Bai Shuruo said.
She also took a sip of wine.
This wine was sweet, just like a drink, so she took two more sips.
"Do you like my office?" Han Yangting asked again.
"I do."
"I'll take you to see the other floors this afternoon."
"Okay!" Bai Shuruo was full of anticipation.
Just now during the meeting, she felt that this kind of meeting was highly efficient. She didn't understand much of what was discussed, but in just those two short hours, she felt she had learned a lot about management.
Perhaps, following Han Yangting could allow her to improve faster.
It was just that there was still work on her sister's side.
Han Yangting asked again: "Ruoruo, since you like it here, why not just come to work with me every day? I will have Linda and the others keep it a secret and not tell anyone that you are my wife. I believe you will gain better experience here."
"But..."
"Are you worried about your sister's side? Rest assured, Ling Feng can recruit a designer for her who is just as talented as you. Moreover, she will understand your choice. After all, we are husband and wife; if we live apart, there will be many troubles. I also want to see you every day. I actually want to accompany you in Fengcheng every day, and I am also working hard to try to move the headquarters to Fengcheng, but you have seen the actual situation. Compared to me going over, it is more realistic for you to come over."
He spoke very sincerely, and Bai Shuruo was moved once again for a moment.
"Then... let me think about it," she said.
"Alright, I will give you a few hours; give me an answer before getting off work this afternoon."
