Chapter 122: Who Do You Think You Are?
"Brother Han, I am willing."
Han Yangting smiled immediately.
Having been together for so long, Bai Shuruo had never seen him smile so happily before.
She thought of what Bai Shunan had said about buying clothes, and she couldn't help but think: his feelings for her must be sincere, and sincerity should be reciprocated, otherwise the heart will slowly grow cold; she did not want to let him down and was willing to take a step toward him.
"Brother Han, I've responded to you, so can we go home now?"
"Let's go, let's go back and eat meat." Han Yangting picked her up and kissed her again.
But Bai Shuruo glanced at the clothes on her body and couldn't help but say: "Brother Han, look at my clothes, they're all wrinkled, how can I go out like this?"
Han Yangting said: "Then shall I have someone send a set over for you?"
She thought for a moment and then said: "Forget it, it's too much trouble to have things sent back and forth, and anyway, you have a private elevator, so we won't run into anyone."
Afterwards, she pulled her clothes flat with effort, tucked the hem into her skirt, tugged at the skirt a few times, and fixed her hair, only then saying: "Alright, Brother Han."
Han Yangting wanted to say something but stopped.
But seeing that she didn't mind, he didn't mind either.
The two walked out of the CEO's office, and when passing the secretary's office outside, Bai Shuruo saw that the way Linda and the others were looking at her was a bit strange.
It must be because she had stayed in the CEO's office for too long; Han Yangting had said that no woman had ever been to his office before.
She didn't think much of it and entered the elevator with Han Yangting.
In the secretary's office, Linda and Nora and the others finally couldn't help but start discussing it.
"Did our CEO Han's little darling get... you-know-what in there?"
"Does that even need guessing? It's obvious she got you-know-what."
"They didn't come out for the whole afternoon, could it be they were doing you-know-what the whole time?"
"Even if they were, what does it have to do with us? Let's finish our work and get off, quick."
"..."
Bai Shuruo and Han Yangting arrived at the underground garage and met Ali, who was waiting by the car door.
Ali had been smoking, but as soon as he saw Han Yangting coming, he immediately stubbed out the cigarette, quickly shoved a few pieces of chewing gum into his mouth, and then respectfully opened the car door for them.
Bai Shuruo was still not used to having someone serve her like this, so she said to Ali: "Ali, thank you for your trouble."
"It's my duty." Ali's gaze swept over Bai Shuruo, and then he glanced at Han Yangting.
Although Han Yangting's expression was very serious, Ali still couldn't help but say in his heart: CEO Han is awesome, slacking off during office hours.
Grandfather's illness was recovering quite quickly; in less than a week, he was able to go outside the Manor for walks.
And Bai Shuruo followed Han Yangting to work every day, her job being in the CEO's office as a small assistant.
Although it was only an assistant position, the requirements were extremely high; the annual salary for this position started at 200,000, and the work content was not simple, requiring the daily organization of reports and the checking of the operational status of various departments.
Although the work had nothing to do with her major, she felt it didn't matter.
After coming into contact with a management position, she discovered that such a role could better improve herself.
She was still young and hadn't even officially graduated from university, so she was like a blank sheet of paper; whatever was drawn on it at the start would be what she would come into contact with in the future.
Moreover, this kind of work helped her overcome her social anxiety; she became increasingly adept at dealing with people, and could even converse generously when facing some of the group's leaders. This kind of growth gave her a great sense of accomplishment.
She was very grateful to Han Yangting for creating this job opportunity for her.
One weekend morning, Bai Shuruo was jogging with Han Yangting in the Manor.
Han Yangting ran with ease and composure, while Bai Shuruo ran panting for breath.
"Brother Han, I can't do it anymore, can we stop running?"
"No, there's one more lap; you can run slowly, but you cannot stop. If the morning exercise isn't enough, I'll make it up to you at night."
"You..." Bai Shuruo stopped and scolded coquettishly: "Brother Han, you are a rascal."
Han Yangting said again: "I'll run ahead first and catch up with you on the next lap."
"Then hurry up and go." Bai Shuruo couldn't have asked for anything better.
Han Yangting ran a distance ahead and looked back at her; she was still maintaining her speed and running slowly.
Han Yangting ran a bit further, and because there was a vegetable garden ahead with some winter melon trellises blocking the view, Bai Shuruo stopped right there.
She wouldn't run anymore; regardless of whether she worked hard to exercise during the day, she would be forced to exercise at night anyway.
She walked slowly for a while, and at this moment, someone called her from behind: "Cousin-in-law, what a coincidence, you're out running too?"
Bai Shuruo turned around and saw it was Han Jiani.
Han Jiani was wearing a black athletic short set and had a headband on, looking very sporty, but there wasn't much sweat on her, and it was unclear if she had just arrived or had come over specifically to chat.
Bai Shuruo originally didn't want to run anymore, but she didn't want to chat with Han Jiani, so she started running again: "Yes, I have one more lap to go, how about you?"
Han Jiani couldn't help but start running too.
While running, she asked: "I heard you went to work in the CEO's office?"
"Yes."
"That position was originally reserved for me." Han Jiani said inexplicably.
Bai Shuruo paused, then stopped and said: "I didn't know that. Since that position was reserved for you, why didn't you go?"
"Didn't I say before? I wanted to play for a good half a year before going to work, and Auntie agreed too. I didn't expect that when I came back from my trip, you would have already arrived."
Bai Shuruo said: "Then you'll have to ask the person in charge of arranging the work."
"Isn't that just Cousin?"
"En, then you have to ask him." Bai Shuruo said.
"I've asked him, he said that position was urgently in need of someone, and he only let you do it because I wasn't back. Cousin-in-law, can you step down from that position and let me have it?"
Bai Shuruo could not help but look at Han Jiani in puzzlement.
After a while, she said, "I cannot."
Then she continued running.
Han Jiani hurriedly caught up: "First Branch sister-in-law, your husband is the group president; you can ask him to rearrange whatever position you want. I only have this one capable one. You don't know, I'm about to be nagged to death by my mom and dad; they all blame me."
Bai Shuruo said: "Of course they blame you. If you really want to go to work, you should have fought for it from the start. Do you know how many people out there can't find jobs?"
Perhaps it was because one takes on the attributes of those one associates with, but although Bai Shuruo was already panting, her tone of voice was the same as Han Yangting's—neither angry nor sad, indifferent, yet very powerful.
Han Jiani could not help but say angrily: "You First Branch people are unreasonable. All the important positions are hogged by your own people. I spoke to you so politely, yet you treat me like air. Who do you think you are? You're just someone who married an old man. If it weren't for relying on a man, what would you be?"
