Chapter 135: A Different Kind of Kiss

~8 min read 1,408 words

Work is over.

Meng Ze rode his motorcycle back to an old house in the Third Ring Road.

This old house was dilapidated, covered in moss and creeping vines on the outside, but in Beishi, such a property was worth tens of millions.

Most importantly, it wasn't rented; it belonged to Meng Ze's family.

That's right, he was originally from Beishi.

The front yard of the old house was divided into two parts: one part was set up as an appliance repair shop, and a small door led to the backyard.

After Meng Ze returned, he left his motorcycle casually at the entrance and tossed his keys inside.

The old man repairing appliances in the front shop saw this, frowned, and cursed, "Park your piece-of-junk motorcycle properly!"

Meng Ze acted as if he hadn't heard.

This old man was the one who had followed Meng Ze to Fengcheng back then; his name was Meng Xinghua, he was 65 years old this year, and he was Meng Ze's maternal grandfather.

Seeing that Meng Ze ignored him, Meng Xinghua immediately grabbed a broom from the doorway and swung it at Meng Ze.

In the past, Meng Ze could only take the beating, but this time, he grabbed the broom.

Meng Xinghua's eyes widened: "What are you doing? Are you trying to rebel?"

Meng Ze snatched the broom away, threw it to the side, and said indifferently, "Grandfather, I've grown up. If we really fought, you wouldn't be my match."

Meng Xinghua was infuriated; he picked up the broom again and struck Meng Ze's body, blow after blow.

Meng Ze was wearing a short-sleeved T-shirt, and after being struck a few times, red welts immediately appeared on his arms.

He didn't make a sound at first, but later, annoyed by the beating, he simply pushed the broom backward and said, "Enough!"

Meng Xinghua was old after all, and Meng Ze was tall and big; how could he be a match for him? With that one push, he fell backward and landed on his backside on the ground.

"You, you dare to rebel against me! Have you forgotten who raised you and who paid for your schooling? All these years of hard work, it was all for you!"

Here we go again.

Every time Meng Ze didn't listen, Meng Xinghua would say these things.

From childhood to adulthood, getting beaten was a daily occurrence for him.

Feeling restless, Meng Ze picked up his motorcycle keys and went out.

"Where are you going? It's so late, make dinner!"

"Going out for a walk, make the dinner yourself," Meng Ze said.

Then he got on his motorcycle and sped off like a whirlwind.

At the neon-lit bar counter, Meng Ze ordered several shots of strong liquor and drank them one after another.

Coincidentally, Han Jiani and a few friends were also drinking at this bar.

Han Jiani was feeling gloomy at the moment and said to her friends, "I really don't want to go to that job of mine for even one more day; every day is just odd jobs, every day is just odd jobs."

A friend said, "Isn't your job just a formality? You're just accumulating time and experience; when the time comes, you can be a Vice President if you want. Unlike me, my mom says I'm just idling away every day."

"Aren't you going to open a bar?"

"You think opening a bar is that easy? Choosing a location, hiring people, renovations—which one doesn't cost money? Money is a small matter; the key is that no one believes I can run it well."

As they were chatting, Han Jiani suddenly saw Meng Ze drinking at the bar.

"Jiani, what are you looking at?" Han Jiani's friend asked, "Yo, that guy is a catch; so you like this type."

Meng Ze sat there alone, lonely, melancholy, and handsome; to use a popular term, there was a sense of brokenness about him.

Han Jiani said, "How could I like him? A poor wretch, he's only good for a bit of fun."

"That's a big statement; he looks so good, plenty of rich women would want him, he might not even look at a little girl like you."

Han Jiani immediately felt unconvinced: "He wouldn't look at me? Hmph, I'll go strike up a conversation, just you wait."

Her friends started making bets, saying that Han Jiani definitely couldn't hook him.

That kind of sensitive guy with a bit of a rogue air usually liked gentle and obedient girls.

Han Jiani carried a glass of wine and sat next to Meng Ze, provocatively saying, "Meng Ze, right? Why are you drinking so much? Heartbroken? Or were you scolded by Bai Shuruo?"

Meng Ze's face was already red from drinking; he turned to see it was Han Jiani and said impatiently, "None of your business, get lost."

"You..." Han Jiani lost all face; she had never been rejected by a guy like this before.

But her friends behind her were watching, and she truly didn't believe she couldn't win over Meng Ze, so she leaned in closer: "What exactly is bothering you? Tell me, let's see if I can solve it for you? To tell you the truth, I am actually the cousin of Bai Shuruo's husband; as long as I speak up, I can still solve quite a few things."

Meng Ze was blunt: "Are you unable to understand human speech, or are you deaf? I told you to get lost!"

Han Jiani was enraged: "Meng Ze, do you really think you're something special? You're just a poor boy; I've seen plenty of people like you. You don't know what's good for you, and you still want to climb the social ladder? You're destined to be this poor your whole life."

The music in the bar wasn't loud at the time, and Han Jiani's shout reached Meng Ze's ears clearly.

He froze for a moment, then sneered and leaned in toward Han Jiani.

Han Jiani saw his whole demeanor turn cold; she sensed something was wrong and thought he wanted to hit her.

"Forget it, didn't you want me to get lost? Then I'll get lost!" Han Jiani said.

But before she could get off the bar stool, she was grabbed by Meng Ze.

Meng Ze gave a cold smile, glanced at Han Jiani's friends, then looked at her and said, "Aren't you just betting with your friends to see if you can hook me? Fine, I'll satisfy you!"

Having said that, Meng Ze suddenly gripped her head and kissed her.

Han Jiani's eyes widened in shock.

But his kiss was like a vine, pervasive, an interweaving of ice and fire, as if laced with poison, making one unable to stop.

The bar music grew louder, masking Han Jiani's struggle; later, she could no longer move and let him kiss her.

It is unknown how much time passed before Han Jiani was finally released; her lips were kissed bright red, and she was in a state of panic.

Meng Ze said indifferently, "I have satisfied your wish; I can go now, right, Miss Han?"

Han Jiani stood frozen in place, her mind filled with nothing but that kiss.

She has dated quite a few boyfriends, but there are not many who could give her this kind of feeling.

Her friend Xiao Mei stepped forward and asked her: "Jiani, what is wrong with you? Were you kissed silly? Are you intoxicated?"

Han Jiani covered her face, "Intoxicated my ass, that Meng Ze is just a bastard!"

"If he's a bastard, why did you kiss him for so long?"

"I... I won't let him off!"

It was already late at night when Meng Ze returned to the old house.

The courtyard lights were miraculously on, as if they were waiting for him to return.

This was also a treatment he had never received before; in the past, no matter how late he returned, this home was always pitch black.

Under the dim light, Meng Xinghua sat on the bench under the eaves and said irritably: "So you still know how to come back!"

Meng Ze asked: "What is it you want?"

Although they were grandfather and grandson, the tone these two used when speaking to each other was always like that of enemies.

"I just want to ask, how are you doing in Baiyin now? Are you able to stay by Bai Shuruo's side yet?"
