Chapter 102: Shuraba X2
【My wife Ling Wu isn't even wearing her school badge, no way! Meeting paused, I'm going to deliver one!】
【The male supporting character is going to get punished, right...】
【It's a Noble Academy, why is the quality of this crappy school badge so poor?】
【This is the power of the plot, you have to ask the author why the school badge quality is so poor.】
【The villain wouldn't give his own school badge to the male supporting character, would he?】
【The person in the previous comment, you're overthinking it. The villain's school badge is black, the male supporting character's is the Noble Academy's Silver School Badge; they aren't the same at all. Even if he wanted to give it to the Rights Protection Department, they wouldn't accept it!】
Jing Du had a restrained and profound temperament; he merely pulled his sleeves up slightly, cleanly and neatly exposing a small section of his wrists. Staring at Ling Wu's porcelain-white face in the seat, he raised a finger to signal the person behind him: "Record the name. After the commendation ceremony ends, I will punish them personally."
After he finished speaking, he left, ignoring everyone's gaze.
The commendation ceremony began quickly.
The Principal was absent due to an urgent matter, so Jing Du spoke on his behalf. After adjusting the microphone on the podium, Jing Du walked up with calm composure, facing many gazes. He nodded slightly to everyone and began to read the Principal's commendation speech: "A tree that fills one's arms grows from a tiny sprout; a nine-story terrace rises from a pile of earth. First, I would like to congratulate the students who achieved excellent results in this test. I hope you will guard against arrogance and rashness, maintain your high-spirited fighting will, and advance toward higher goals..."
The auditorium was orderly.
No one spoke off-stage, likely because it was Jing Du giving the speech, so everyone listened with rapt attention.
Jing Du's gaze swept across the entire auditorium, locking onto Ling Wu like a hawk, his tone as usual: "Finally, we invite the outstanding student representative, student Ling Wu, to come on stage to speak."
"Clap, clap, clap... clap, clap!"
Thunderous applause erupted in the auditorium.
"I told you the outstanding student representative would be Senior Ling Wu!"
"Hurry up and clap, clap!"
"Looking forward to the senior's speech."
Ling Wu's eyelashes trembled slightly. Outstanding student representative?
No one told him.
Bai Yinan widened his eyes, raised his hand to pat his left cheek lightly, his eyes full of apology: "Damn! Teacher Zhang mentioned it to me yesterday and asked me to pass it on to you. Ling Wu, I forgot to tell you. It's all my fault, it's all my fault, I'm done for, I'm done for, I'm done for!"
"Is it too late for us to search for a speech draft now?"
Ling Wu just shook his head faintly and stood up to walk toward the podium. As he passed by him, he patted his shoulder lightly. The youth's pace was very steady, his spine as straight as green bamboo, and he stood on the podium amidst the applause.
Jing Du looked at him deeply and handed him the microphone.
Ling Wu smiled and nodded, responding with ease: "It is an honor to speak on stage as the outstanding student representative. As the saying goes, 'He who travels one hundred miles covers ninety as half the journey.' Whether in study or life, one must see things through from beginning to end, and always maintain a clear mind, firm beliefs, and tenacious perseverance..."
There was almost no noise in the auditorium other than the youth's cold and clean voice.
Jing Du sat off-stage, his long legs crossed, fingers interlaced. His lazy gaze was cast upon the handsome and elegant young man on the podium.
Ling Wu stood under the spotlight, his temperament outstanding, his voice neither humble nor arrogant, steady and firm. His long fingers gripped the black microphone; the extremely distinct color contrast made his skin appear even fairer. Every gesture was a manifestation of profound learning...
"My speech ends here. Thank you, everyone."
He bowed slightly and turned to leave the stage.
Applause erupted in the auditorium once again.
When Ling Wu intended to return to his seat, he was called back by Jing Du: "Ling Wu, come with me for a moment."
"Okay."
Far away in the audience, Qi Yu saw the two figures leave side by side, and the faint light in the depths of his pupils dimmed for a moment.
Outside the auditorium.
Jing Du took a ticket out of his suit jacket, preparing to hand it to Ling Wu: "Ling Wu, you are someone who understands music. I have a concert this afternoon; would you like to come?"
【I have a concert, would~ you~ like~ to~ come?】
【Jing Du, you've forgotten your roots!】
【Brother Forget-Your-Roots/.】
【Sorry, our baby male supporting character has an appointment with the villain to go to the amusement park, so you'll have to go to the concert alone.】
This afternoon?
Ling Wu refused decisively: "I have plans this afternoon."
Jing Du's thin lips curled, his brows furrowed slightly, his gaze fixed on him: "With whom?"
"That Special Student sitting next to you?"
His tone was a bit low, sounding as if he were in a bad mood.
Jing Du maintained his posture. Under the sunlight, his skin had a faintly flowing luster. He said unhurriedly: "Ling Wu, coming from a noble family like ours, there is no need to be friends with commoners from the Lower City District. He is of no benefit to you at all."
"Do you understand?"
Ling Wu's pitch-black eyes looked at him: "Jing Du, he and we are not equal, right?"
Jing Du agreed: "Right."
His answer was without the slightest hesitation.
Such thoughts of class solidification had long been deeply ingrained.
The faint light in the youth's eyes flickered, a dazzling brightness under the sun. Jing Du immediately heard words from Ling Wu that could be called rebellious: "If nobles and commoners could be equal, would justice and fairness still be mere empty shells?"
Jing Du narrowed his eyes in vigilance; he gripped Ling Wu's wrist tightly: "Has no one told you, Ling Wu, that this kind of thinking which defies noble rights is very dangerous in the Empire?"
"Who taught you that?"
Ling Wu stood in silent confrontation with him.
The nobility was accustomed to the supremacy of privilege; to them, equality was oppression.
A man's voice came from afar.
—"What are you two doing!"
Jing Du and Ling Wu turned their heads in unison and saw Jin Shaoyu and Yu Shixue approaching side by side. The former's eyes held anger, while the latter wore a casual, indifferent smile.
They looked exactly like they were watching a good show.
The slightly long ends of Yu Shixue's hair brushed against his smooth-lined neck; two buttons of his shirt were undone, vaguely revealing his collarbones, and his dress trousers wrapped around a pair of superior long legs. It was clearly a suit-and-tie attire, yet his whole body exuded a wanton, unrestrained ruffian air.
Jin Shaoyu was dressed low-key in a white T-shirt with a logo printed on it, a lollipop held between his teeth, and a few fine strands of bangs scattered across his forehead, which effectively neutralized the sharpness about him, giving him a somewhat approachable, boy-next-door feel.
Jin Shaoyu's gaze was fixed on the hand Jing Du had gripped onto Ling Wu's wrist with, and his tone was dangerous: "You two have quite the leisure and elegance."
"What are you two being all lovey-dovey for?"
【Wow, wow, wow... a Shura field?】
【Getting ready to watch a good show (eating melon seeds)】
【Jin Shao: I treat you like a brother, and you damn well want to hit on my brother?!】
【The barrage is a continuous stream of excitement: A large-scale Shura field scene. Next, let me introduce to everyone: this man is named Jin Shaoyu, a veteran brother-con; the one holding our male supporting character's wrist is called the Forget-Roots Brother; and the other one is our well-known, loves-to-watch-the-fun-without-fearing-it-too-big Clean-Freak Brother.】
【Why isn't my favorite pink-haired one here?】
Yu Shixue strode over quickly, brought two fingers together, and snatched the ticket from Jing Du's hand. He lowered his eyes to glance at the words on it and said meaningfully: "Adu, for a good thing like listening to a concert, how could you only invite Ling Wu?"
