Chapter 132: A Thorough Redhead

~6 min read 1,027 words

Circling around the crowd, Jing Du's eyes behind his silver-rimmed glasses narrowed at the hand Shen Zhaojue had placed on Ling Wu's elbow. With a natural expression, he handed a meticulously wrapped gift box to him and said, "A birthday gift."

Ling Wu: "Thank you."

A very polite and common remark.

Jing Du frowned slightly; ever since that time in the Art Association dressing room, he had disliked hearing those two words, especially from Ling Wu's mouth.

"It's only right," he said, his eyes holding their usual indifference. "Won't you open it and take a look?"

Ling Wu did not understand why they were all so keen on having him open gifts on the spot. After all, at a birthday banquet like this, unless it was a close elder or friend, no one would personally put effort into choosing a gift.

It was all just a formality; one would have an assistant or butler help pick out a gift, as long as it was presentable and fit one's status.

The gift box was opened.

It was a Patek Philippe Nautilus watch. The fresh, elegant green dial and the unique octagonal case design complemented each other, highlighting a luxurious yet understated temperament. Under different lighting, it displayed rich visual effects, at times profound, at times clear and bright...

Ling Wu: "You've put in a lot of thought; I like it very much."

But none of the three people present could see how much he liked it in his eyes. The attitude was impeccable, giving the corresponding emotional feedback, but it was just treating it like an optional gift, no different from any other item on the banquet hall's gift table.

Wei Ranxu did not care about this.

After all, he wasn't the one who gave it.

Furthermore, Ling Wu had never told them what he liked, and Jin Shaoyu, the only one who could have probed for his preferences, was unable to show his face due to a car accident, so the gift naturally didn't hit the mark.

But someone seemed to care very much.

Jing Du asked stubbornly: "Shouldn't you put it on immediately if you like it?"

Ling Wu raised his wine glass: "Let's wait until the banquet is over."

Jing Du slowly raised his head, his pitch-black eyes fixed on him: "Can't you do it now?"

Hindered by the occasion, Ling Wu politely refused: "It's not very convenient with one hand."

Jing Du raised an eyebrow, as if he had finally been waiting for these words: "I'll help you."

Impeccable!

Ling Wu didn't expect this: "......."

The corner of Shen Zhaojue's eye twitched: "?"

"......." Wei Ranxu turned his body to the side.

【Shen Zhaojue: Who is this guy? Get him out of here, quick.】

【Wei Ranxu: I can't bear to look!】

【Young Master Wei (gritting his teeth): This is great! My fiancé, who is a sure thing, is giving a gift to the person I like... right in front of me!】

【Can you even talk like that? Jing Du, tell me, is this right? I think it's quite wrong, after all, my skin isn't that thick, ha!】

【I feel like Ling Wu has a bitter life, meeting someone who doesn't understand what he's told and won't leave.】

Jing Du possessed a faint air of disregard for the lives of others. He stood there, bearing the three gazes of varying expressions, took Ling Wu's hand, rolled up his cuff, and put the watch on his wrist with an air that brooked no refusal, praising, "It suits your skin tone very well."

Wei Ranxu silently squeezed Shen Zhaojue aside.

A familiar voice came through.

"So lively."

Yin Huaiyu was wearing a flamboyant pink suit jacket with nothing underneath, wearing a Cartier necklace with a unique nail-element design. The overall look was dashing and unrestrained, and that signature pink hair had been dyed a fiery, passionate red.

He had turned into a thorough... redhead!

Yin Huaiyu pushed Jin Shaoyu, who was sitting in a wheelchair with an expression like "everyone owes him eight million," over. He looked at the group and said, "No wonder I couldn't see any familiar faces after searching the whole banquet hall; it turns out everyone is gathered here."

Jin Shaoyu didn't make a sound.

Ling Wu didn't speak either.

Yin Huaiyu's gaze swept over the Patek Philippe watch on his wrist and he shouted to Jing Du: "Adu, come and push this weak and helpless 'disabled person'; I'm a bit tired."

Jin Shaoyu pressed down on the hand rims on both sides of the wheelchair and said angrily: "Who are you calling disabled? Yin Huaiyu, are you looking to die?!"

"I didn't ask you to push me."

Jing Du didn't say anything; he silently stood behind Jin Shaoyu and patted his shoulder, simply soothing his emotions.

【Pink hair... no, it's red hair now, watch your tone, how are you talking to my Young Master Jin? Be careful or I'll fold you into three!】

【I feel like Young Master Jin has always been tolerated by the other three in the F4, although he got into a fight with Yin Huaiyu last time, Yin Huaiyu is still pushing his wheelchair this time.】

【Why is Young Master Yin always late?】

【It's over, Young Master Jin's leg is injured, now he can only hit Yin Huaiyu's knees.】

【To the one above, that's a hell-level joke.】

"Where is Yu Shixue?"

Jing Du was suspicious: "Didn't he arrive the earliest?"

"I would have forgotten about that if you hadn't mentioned it."

Yin Huaiyu had his left arm around Wei Ranxu and his right arm around Shen Zhaojue, the posture making it seem as if the three were as close as brothers, so good that they could immediately swear a brotherhood in the peach garden.

He joked: "I just ran into Shixue and Miss Bai when I came from over there. They are in the rising phase of their relationship; I guess they went off to date somewhere."

"Unlike us empty-nesters."

【You're an empty-nester again?】

【(Raising a palm) Buddy, are you still looking for a substitute?】

【To quote Shao Yu, Yin Huaiyu, do you think you're a good person?】
