Chapter 220: Belated Realization
Ling Wu got into Yu Shixue's car. He wanted to turn to reach for the seatbelt, but Yu Shixue's arm reached over a step faster, and his magnetic voice sounded by his ear: "Let me help you."
The space inside the car was cramped. Because of the posture for fastening the seatbelt, the two were pressed very close. Ling Wu could almost feel the heat radiating from him, and the warm breaths exhaled from their noses intertwined, appearing ambiguous and intimate...
Yu Shixue had sprayed men's cologne before going out, and Ling Wu's mind was now filled with this scent.
As time passed, Ling Wu realized belatedly that this did not seem as simple as fastening a seatbelt; it was more like flirting with a purpose.
He looked down and saw Yu Shixue's fluffy head buried against his chest; Ling Wu grabbed his hand.
Yu Shixue seemed a bit surprised; he hadn't expected Ling Wu to take the initiative to touch him. The back of his hand, which had been somewhat cool, instantly heated up rapidly as their skin touched, as if seared by fire.
His whole body froze.
"What's wrong?"
Ling Wu didn't make a sound, only using action to prove it, then guided his hand to insert the seatbelt's latch tongue into the buckle.
"Click!"
As the sound of the lock echoed, Ling Wu let go of Yu Shixue's hand: "Thank you."
Ling Wu was leaning against the seat, and being pressed down by Yu Shixue's tall and sturdy body was somewhat uncomfortable. He twisted his body twice in distress, then used his hand to push away his shoulders.
He stated his feeling: "Shixue, you're pressing on me like this, I'm a bit uncomfortable."
"Oh..." Yu Shixue had already been close to him, and being twisted like this, his hot-blooded body soon reacted, a ball of fire gathering in his lower abdomen. His voice was hoarse: "Am I very heavy?"
Ling Wu did not understand his train of thought.
But Ling Wu was a tolerant and magnanimous person. He knew what was on Yu Shixue's mind, so he didn't fuss, instead waiting quietly for him to get up.
Just as he felt his body lighten, Yu Shixue clasped the back of Ling Wu's head. The distance between the two had barely opened for less than two seconds before they were forced back together again.
Ling Wu was a bit annoyed by his repeated tactics: "What is it this time?"
"Shh, don't move." Yu Shixue placed his fingertips against the side of Ling Wu's face, pressing a small dimple into that fair skin. He tilted his head slightly, his eyes looking out through the position where the car window had been lowered: "The person who likes you hasn't gone far yet... He is peeping at us."
Ling Wu struggled a bit: "?"
Yin Huaiyu?
Yu Shixue clasped the back of Ling Wu's head, noticing his eyelashes fluttering, and softened his tone: "A-Wu, I know you're nervous. I won't kiss you, but you are my fiancé now. Huaiyu liking you so blatantly like this, I'll get jealous, I'll get angry."
"... Cooperate with me?"
By the street.
Yin Huaiyu looked at the car not far away. From his position, looking through the deliberately lowered car window, he could see Yu Shixue facing him. That hand was forcefully clasping the back of Ling Wu's neck, making him lift his head as if offering a sacrifice. The two were pressed very close; Yu Shixue had his eyes closed, his head swaying slightly—it looked exactly like they were kissing intensely, unable to bear parting...
He clenched his fists silently, a layer of thin ice seemingly congealing in the depths of his eyes.
Yin Huaiyu knew Yu Shixue was doing it on purpose.
It was just that the scene of the kiss was too piercing. Even though Yin Huaiyu kept building himself up in his heart, he still failed at the last hurdle. His brain seemed to have crashed; he couldn't think at all, nor could he calm down.
He bit his teeth hard, his face strained to the point of rigidity.
Yin Huaiyu had lived for so many years and had never been jealous of anyone, but at this moment, he was jealous of Yu Shixue.
Why was he the one who could rightfully and properly enter into a marriage alliance with Ling Wu, while he had to stand in a corner like a peeper, coveting him cautiously?
Why was Yu Shixue's life so good? Clearly, he didn't even know about Ling Wu's identity as a Magician, clearly he hadn't sacrificed anything, yet he could possess such a wonderful Ling Wu.
Yin Huaiyu was not reconciled!
Not reconciled...
Yin Huaiyu also began to yearn for a legitimate opportunity, rather than that act of beastly forcible seizure from before. He didn't want to lock Ling Wu up anymore; he wanted that vivid and interesting Ling Wu. Regardless of whether he was cold, distant, polite, or had any other attitude, at least that would be out of his own true heart.
And not the Ling Wu who cursed him for "attempted rape."
That sentence had truly pierced into the bottom of his heart.
Yin Huaiyu felt very powerless and desperate. It was precisely because he knew that what Ling Wu said was correct. If Ling Wu hadn't had the strength to resist at the time, what he might have done was unknown, but this unknown act could trample their already precarious relationship into pieces at any moment.
He was glad, glad that he hadn't treated Ling Wu that way.
Damn it!
He really was an idiot. Such a simple truth, why hadn't he understood it sooner?
Even if he just stayed by Ling Wu's side without doing anything, shamelessly sticking close to him, helping him out when the opportunity arose, showing his face, or even getting a couple of "good person" cards—later on, could someone with as strong a sense of morality as Ling Wu give him a cold look?
