Chapter 243: Living Together

~4 min read 752 words

Before Ling Wu had even adjusted to the status of being "off the market," Chu Yi, with a "perfectly legitimate excuse," brought all his daily necessities and broke into the apartment where Ling Wu lived with an unstoppable force...

Looking at the things belonging to another person inside the apartment, Ling Wu's head felt a bit dizzy from just having woken up.

He was wearing loose pajamas, standing in front of the door, his hair a bit messy from being pressed down; he raised a hand to rub his eyes and let out a yawn.

"Chu Yi, are you... moving in to live with me?"

Chu Yi placed the photo of the two of them taken at Maple Forest Avenue in the most conspicuous spot, ensuring that anyone who entered Ling Wu's home would see it, thereby knowing that he was someone who was "taken."

Deep down, he felt quite triumphant.

Ling Wu did not yet know of Chu Yi's secret intention to stake his claim.

"That's right." Chu Yi, tall and long-legged, wearing casual clothes, leaned against the doorframe of Ling Wu's room, casting a shadow: "Couples should live together."

"Don't you think we can?"

Ling Wu certainly didn't mean that; he hadn't thought too much about it, just roughly scanned Chu Yi's luggage, and pointed to a spot: "You can put them over there first; I'll help you tidy up after I finish washing up."

Chu Yi: "Alright."

He saw Ling Wu step into the bathroom in his slippers, the bedroom door left wide open just like that, as if inviting him in to take a look.

Chu Yi said in a super soft voice: "Then I'm coming in."

Ling Wu, of course, did not hear this sentence.

Thus, Chu Yi began to look around Ling Wu's room without a guilty conscience; the decor was minimalist, without excessive ornamentation, with a vast sea of books arranged on the desk, and the computer lying quietly to the side.

There was nothing on the nightstand, just a desk lamp.

What was particularly noteworthy was that the bed was very large.

Then Chu Yi noticed the handcrafted ocean crystal ornament placed next to a cactus.

The corners of his mouth lifted slightly; just as he picked up the ornament, he heard the sound of Ling Wu coming out of the bathroom.

Chu Yi held up the ocean crystal ball and said half-jokingly: "Since you said you liked it before, I thought you were lying to me."

When Ling Wu was in the Empire, he had lied to many people, but in his calm daily life, far removed from the disputes of profit and hatred, he did not like to lie.

People should treat each other with sincerity.

"I actually don't really..." lie.

Ling Wu felt that given the past, his words didn't seem to convince Chu Yi, so he simply shut his mouth, offered no explanation, and let it be taken as an admission.

Chu Yi sensed his hesitation: "Why did you stop halfway through?"

Ling Wu shook his head: "It's nothing."

He took the ornament from Chu Yi's hand and placed it neatly next to the cactus, like a proud soldier standing guard over the clean space of the desk.

As if he truly shared a telepathic connection with him, Chu Yi quickly realized he had said the wrong thing and shouldn't have made such a joke, explaining: "Ling Wu, I know about the past, and you still have my trust."

"Huh?"

Ling Wu hadn't expected him to say that suddenly and felt very embarrassed for a moment; he suspiciously wondered if Chu Yi could hear his inner thoughts.

"I didn't really care about the past either."

As soon as Ling Wu finished speaking, without waiting for Chu Yi to reply, he changed the subject: "Let me help you unpack; did you bring all your daily necessities?"

"I brought everything." Chu Yi followed him out of the room.

His luggage was not much, and it was easy to pack and organize.

Ling Wu propped up Chu Yi's suitcase, resting his hand on it, and asked a question that made both of them fall silent: "Which room do you want to live in? I think that one over there is quite nice, the lighting is very good."

He then began to promote it like a salesman.

Chu Yi: "..."

He understood now; Ling Wu had no intention of living in the same room or sleeping in the same bed as him at all.
