Chapter 6: Even If You Scream Until Your Throat Breaks

~8 min read 1,469 words

Ling Wu had a higher mathematics class in the afternoon, so after eating lunch, he hurried toward the teaching building; he was a law-abiding person and did not want to skip class without reason.

He walked rather quickly, the scorching sunlight shining down through the tree shade, the youth's complexion rosy, a thin layer of sweat on the tip of his nose.

A white shirt, jet-black hair, and a cold, clear profile formed a clean, picturesque scene on campus.

"Thump!"

The bell of Sike Academy rang out; there were ten minutes left until class time.

Ling Wu was passing through the path by the artificial lake when a black shadow ran out from behind a tree and shoved him hard from the side.

"Splash!"

The clear lake water reflected the clouds in the sky like a bright mirror, but as Ling Wu entered the water, this tranquility was shattered, ripples spreading out in circles and kicking up white spray.

A pair of black leather shoes stepped onto the lawn by the edge of the artificial lake, a tall figure looking down from above.

Wei Ranxu's handsome face looked ferocious due to his arrogance: "I thought you were so impressive, but aren't you still in my hands now?"

"Aren't you very good at seducing people? First Brother Jing, then Brother Yu and the others."

"Are you not cheap?"

The summer lake water had a hint of chill, but it wasn't exactly cold.

Ling Wu choked on two mouthfuls of water and slowly surfaced; he raised his hand to brush his wet bangs to the top of his head, revealing a fair and full forehead, water droplets sliding down his long, slender eyelashes from the bridge of his nose to his chin.

The soaked white shirt clung to his body, and one could vaguely see the fair skin hidden beneath the thin fabric...

His eyes were slightly red from being soaked in the water.

There were algae and plankton in the lake water, so it wasn't exactly clean.

Wei Ranxu was smug: "Ling Wu, do you know what you look like right now? Like a drowned dog, hahaha..."

He aimed his phone camera at Ling Wu: "Come on, look at the lens, leave behind the most beautiful photo of your life."

After taking the photo, Wei Ranxu put his phone away, lifted his foot to step on the phone Ling Wu had dropped on the ground, raised his eyebrows in provocation, and then kicked it into the lake.

The phone sank quickly.

It only splashed a small bit of water and disappeared without a trace.

Ling Wu looked at him coldly.

Wei Ranxu crossed his arms over his chest, lifted his chin, and said arrogantly: "What are you glaring at?"

"You can only blame yourself for seeking your own death; there is no surveillance here, and few students pass by. With my people guarding, even if you scream until your throat breaks, no one will come to save you."

No surveillance?

Ling Wu blinked, and water droplets dripped down accordingly.

The scene at the artificial lake was taken in entirely by Jing Du and Jin Shaoyu on the second floor of the castle.

Jing Du stood before the floor-to-ceiling window, looking down at the person in the water, and parted his lips to say sparingly: "Your brother, not going to manage him?"

"Wei Ranxu has always been ruthless in his actions..."

"I've said it already, he is not my brother! I don't have a brother like him." Jin Shaoyu's face was gloomy, his voice tinged with anger; he exhaled a turbid breath, his eyes like cold ice: "No need to manage him."

"He won't die."

Jing Du smiled for the first time in a long time: "Shao Yu, do you know what you look like right now?"

Jin Shaoyu: "?"

Jing Du: "Like a child throwing a tantrum because they didn't get their candy."

Jin Shaoyu: "Are you sick?"

Seeing him angry, Jing Du was even more amused: "I am actually quite curious, what happened between you and your brother."

While the two were talking, Ling Wu swam to the shore of the artificial lake; his movements were extremely fast, and he kicked the noble young master Wei Ranxu to the ground.

Ling Wu mounted him and smashed a heavy fist into his face: "I always feel that if people don't offend me, I won't offend them."

"But I overlooked one point: those who can walk upright are not necessarily human."

Wei Ranxu was knocked to the side, his lip split, and he spat out a mouthful of blood; he just couldn't understand it, Ling Wu looked sickly, the type who could be blown over by the wind at any moment.

How could he have such strong explosive power to pin him to the ground so he couldn't get up?

"Damn it!" Wei Ranxu was filled with rage: "Are you crazy?"

Ling Wu gripped his neck with one hand, water droplets from his chin dripping onto his hand; a section of his white shirt had come untucked, revealing the snow-white skin at his lower back, the fabric clinging to his lean waist.

His lips were pale, his eyes slightly red: "Keep screaming then, there is no surveillance nearby, it's useless even if you scream until your throat breaks."

Ling Wu slapped him twice more.

Wei Ranxu stopped talking; his gaze moved upward to stare at Ling Wu's eyelashes, nose, and lips, then fell to his slightly protruding Adam's apple; with the youth riding on his waist and abdomen, he inexplicably felt that his cold, threatening demeanor was quite a turn-on.

Damn!

Wei Ranxu felt he was truly crazy.

"What the hell are you guys still hiding for?!" Wei Ranxu shouted angrily: "Push him off for me!"

Not long after, several boys ran out one after another from behind the thick tree trunks; they were the same ones who had surrounded Ling Wu by the fountain pool earlier.

Seeing them approach, Ling Wu fished the phone out of Wei Ranxu's pocket, and with a beautiful parabola across the sky, it plummeted to the bottom of the lake.

"You dare throw my phone!"

Ling Wu got up from him and turned back to meet the gaze of the tall boy; the latter was clearly stunned for a moment, then took out a tissue and handed it to him.

"You should wipe yourself off first."

At the same time, curses erupted: "Are you sick? Giving him a tissue, Gao Sheng, whose side are you on anyway?"

"Huh?"

"Oh, oh..."

Wei Ranxu climbed up from the ground; he pointed at Ling Wu, his face suddenly turning gloomy, the anger emanating from his bones making people afraid to look directly at him: "You dare hit me? I'm telling you, you're dead; as long as Young Master Jin doesn't protect you, just wait to be expelled!"

"Damn!"

"Let's go."

The few people by the artificial lake dispersed.

Jing Du recalled Ling Wu, who once looked at him with eyes full of infatuation, and how different she was today; he wasn't too surprised, merely sighing softly, "Interesting."

Jin Shaoyu sat on the sofa, the outline of half his face hidden in the shadows, his aura cold and heavy.

There was certainly no way to attend class; before Ling Wu could return to her apartment to change clothes, she was summoned to the office.

Voices of conversation drifted from the office.

Wei Ranxu's voice came through: "Teacher Zhang, Ling Wu attacked me by the artificial lake. Gao Sheng and the others are all witnesses. Tell me, how are you going to handle this? You must give me an explanation."

"Gao Sheng, isn't that right?"

Two seconds later, another voice came through: "Yes, we all saw it."

Zhang Lijuan wore a troubled expression; working at the Noble Academy paid very well, but the thing she feared most was encountering a situation where she couldn't hold the scales of justice level—one was the young master of the Wei Family, the other the young master of the Jin Family, both with illustrious family backgrounds.

No matter how she handled it, it was a dead end.

Zhang Lijuan picked up her thermos, took a sip of water with calm composure, though in reality, her palms had already started to sweat.

Just as she was sitting on pins and needles, the office door was knocked upon.

"Knock, knock, knock!"

Zhang Lijuan was overjoyed: "Come in!"

The door opened.

A few coughs came from the doorway first.

Ling Wu walked in, soaked through, her face deathly pale and her lips slightly purple: "Teacher Zhang, did you ask for me?"

Damn it.

Her face was so pale that Zhang Lijuan suspected she was about to die; seeing that fragile, pallid face, she wanted to slap herself.
