Chapter 95: Sleep Right Here

~6 min read 1,193 words

Weilan had just wanted to say something, but a gun barrel was pressed against the top of his head; a chill climbed up from the soles of his feet, making his hair stand on end. He raised both hands, trembling: "Second Young Master, what is the meaning of this?"

"What is the meaning of this?"

Jin Shaoyu's tone was grim: "You wouldn't happen to think that now that you know my secret, I would still let you walk out of here alive, would you?"

Weilan was so scared he froze in place.

Fear, like an invisible giant hand, gripped his heart tightly; his breathing became abnormally rapid and heavy, and his entire body stiffened like a sculpture.

"I, I will keep my mouth shut!"

"Don't kill me."

Jin Shaoyu remained unmoved: "Only the dead can keep their mouths shut."

His index finger twitched, about to pull the trigger, when Ling Wu's whimpering reached his ears. The scent of blood was difficult to deal with, the effects of the TSR-91 Agent were wearing off, and Ling Wu was about to wake up.

Jin Shaoyu did not want him to see the bloodshed and felt a pang of compassion: "You had better remember your promise. My people will watch you 24 hours a day; once news leaks, I guarantee you won't see tomorrow's sun."

"Get out."

Weilan ran away at top speed.

Jin Shaoyu looked at his retreating back with contempt. A top student, and yet so stupid! Must have ruined his brain doing research.

The TSR-91 Agent causes one to lose memories of the interrogation period.

Ten minutes later.

Jin Shaoyu brought two bowls of noodles out from the kitchen. Seeing Ling Wu wake up normally on the sofa, he called him over to eat in a gentle tone: "Ling Wu, I made beef noodles, come over and eat."

Ling Wu rubbed his temples.

Why was he lying on the sofa?

Ling Wu remembered he hadn't drunk any orange juice: "When did you drug me?"

"Who drugged you? Didn't you already see through me?" Jin Shaoyu pointed to the bruise on his lip and said: "You punched me a few times, then you acted like you were triggered, screamed a few times, and then passed out from anger at me."

Ling Wu's heart skipped a beat.

Seeing that Jin Shaoyu didn't suspect anything, he felt relieved.

He hadn't passed out from anger; his illness had flared up.

Ling Wu asked: "Then did I say anything?"

Jin Shaoyu was helpless: "Does holding me and crying in pain count?"

As he spoke, his voice trembled at the end. Looking at Ling Wu's face now, Weilan's words "Mental Dissociation" echoed in his ears. After learning about this psychological disorder, Jin Shaoyu felt a pain as if his heart were being torn apart.

How could a person endure such suffering?

Jin Shaoyu regretted it.

He regretted every harsh word he had ever said to Ling Wu, hated his own inability to empathize, hated his own duplicity, hated his verbal abuse, and hated his own arbitrariness.

Ling Wu was right; he was impulsive, reckless, irritable... and he always made his brother bear the damage for him; he was not a good younger brother at all.

For ten years, he felt only he had been abandoned and undervalued. He had forgotten that Ling Wu was only one year older than him, and that he, too, had lost his mother and left his home behind.

No matter what the truth was, he was never the only one in pain.

Jin Shaoyu was in pain.

Ling Wu was in pain.

Looking back, the years were ferocious and spared no one.

Ling Wu walked over, still remembering the incident where he had laid hands on Jin Shaoyu. Looking at the bruise on his lip, he said with heartache: "Do you know you were wrong?"

Jin Shaoyu nodded: "Mm."

"I already made you pass out from anger, what else can I do if I don't admit I'm wrong?"

Ling Wu smiled: "Since you know you're wrong, Brother forgives you."

Jin Shaoyu had him sit down and picked at the beef noodles with chopsticks: "I ate the corn and pork rib soup you made, you try the beef noodles I made too."

"Okay."

Jin Shaoyu brought the noodles to his lips and looked up at Ling Wu. His eating manner was refined, and he was calm and rational; one couldn't tell at all that he had been acting crazy just a moment ago.

Only now, as if just discovering it, did Jin Shaoyu notice how thin Ling Wu's shoulders were.

His eye sockets ached in waves. Jin Shaoyu had long since discarded things like tears, but he couldn't stop his nose from stinging. He wanted to rush over, pull Ling Wu into his arms, apologize to him, and talk about everything under the sun, about the ten years they had been absent from each other's lives.

But he couldn't.

The timing was wrong. Ling Wu was so clever, he would very likely discover the existence of the TSR-91 Agent, which would trigger his illness.

Jin Shaoyu didn't dare to act rashly at all.

He could only pretend to be the same as before.

He had to seize power, break free from control, and topple the mountain that was Jin Liangjin before he could have a moment to breathe.

After finishing the meal, Ling Wu took the bowls into the kitchen. Jin Shaoyu stood up: "Where do you intend to put my bowls?"

Ling Wu: "Don't they need to be washed?"

"Who told you to wash them!" Jin Shaoyu shooed him out of the kitchen and tied on an apron himself: "These bowls are custom-made and worth 88,000; don't you go breaking them."

"Go sit in the living room."

Jin Shaoyu grumbled and scrubbed the bowls with a cold face.

Should've bought a dishwasher... Regretting it.

Ling Wu felt a bit strange, but he still put down the bowl and left the kitchen. He went to the living room, turned his phone to landscape mode, and started playing a game. He had downloaded this 5v5 fair-play mobile game a month ago, and because of star-protection cards, he had quickly reached a high rank.

After forcing the enemy team to surrender at six minutes, he looked at the victory screen, the golden light effects leaving him lost in thought.

Jin Shaoyu came out of the kitchen.

Ling Wu then said: "It's getting late, I should head back. If it gets any later, I'll miss the curfew."

Head back?

Jin Shaoyu took off his coat and frowned: "Where are you going back to? It's hard to get a taxi here, and I'm not going to drive you."

Ling Wu: "I..."

His words were interrupted by Jin Shaoyu, who said forcefully: "Just sleep here."

"Don't make it look like I'm mistreating you."

Ling Wu felt inexplicably melancholy; clearly, when they were young, Shao Yu was very well-behaved and cute, but now he had actually become this sort of person who insisted on having the final say.

"... Alright then."

"Then which room should I sleep in?"

Jin Shaoyu said: "Whatever."
