Chapter 115: What's That Smell on You?
Qin Lao fell silent for a moment, lifted his eyes to look at Wen Ling, saw her expression was normal, but Zhou Yinhe's face turned cold.
Go tell her I'm not here; have her come to play at my house after I return.
The butler answered and went out; just then Ruan MiaoMiao got out of the car, saw him and said softly, "Butler, is Grandfather home?"
Miss Ruan, the old master has gone out; he's not home. I was asked to tell you to wait until he returns before coming over to play.
Ruan MiaoMiao blinked, then smiled: "It's fine; I see my cousin's car is here, and I happen to have something to ask him."
Her matter hasn't been resolved; the director's side directly blacklisted her contact information—anyone can tell who's behind it. She came back hoping Grandfather could help her; since he's not here, she could ask her cousin instead, after all, her cousin is also quite acquainted with Zhou Yinhe.
The butler gave an embarrassed smile: "Miss Ruan, the young master parked the car and left; why don't you give him a call?"
Ruan MiaoMiao felt something was off, frowned, glanced toward the parking lot—the black sports car looked somewhat familiar……
She realized—it was Zhou Yinhe's car.
If Grandfather and my cousin aren't here, why is Zhou Yinhe's car here?
She had just taken a step forward intending to go inside, but the butler actually shifted to the side and blocked her.
"Miss Ruan, you should go back first." The butler gave a faint smile as he looked at her, "Today really isn't convenient."
Ruan MiaoMiao tightly bit her lip, staring at him, "Am I not even allowed to enter my own grandfather's house?"
The butler remained silent, keeping his original expression.
"Fine, when I see Grandfather I'll ask him when the Qin family ever let a butler take charge." Ruan MiaoMiao snorted, her inner anxiety plus the butler's attitude making her drop the pretense she'd kept up at the Qin household; she glared at the butler and turned to leave.
The butler stood at the doorway, quietly watching Ruan MiaoMiao leave, then turned and walked into the vestibule, where he saw Qin Lao giving a self‑mocking, lowered‑head smile.
"The way she acted obedient and sensible in front of me these past years—now I see she really takes after her mother."
The butler sighed, stepped forward and said softly, "Please don't be angry."
Qin Lao turned and glanced at the dining room—Zhou Yinhe had already rushed to his seat and sat down, now gazing at Wen Ling.
"I'm not angry; my two granddaughters had opposite tempers when they were little, and the girls born are like that too." Qin Lao laughed, shook his head, walked back to the dining room, stood beside Zhou Yinhe and coughed once to remind him to hurry up.
Zhou Yinhe pressed his lips, had no choice but to stand up; after sitting down he still stared at Wen Ling with a resentful expression.
"Grandfather, please eat quickly; he just peeled the shrimp for you."
Wen Ling glanced at Zhou Yinhe, then placed the shrimp he had just peeled for her from her own bowl in front of Qin Lao.
Qin Lao nodded satisfactorily.
After finishing the meal, Wen Ling prepared to leave with Zhou Yinhe; Qin Lao had been a bit unhappy, but Wen Ling coaxed him and he felt better.
As soon as Zhou Yinhe got in the car, he pinched Wen Ling's chin and gave her a hard kiss.
"Your grandfather bullies me, and your maternal grandfather also bullies me."
Wen Ling wrapped her arms around his neck, amused, and said, "Isn't that normal? Who let you go dating someone else's treasure?"
"You're my treasure too." Zhou Yinhe lowered his head and deepened the kiss.
That kiss directly brought out Zhou Yinhe's thoughts; he released her, started the car, and rushed home in a hurry.
The car had just reached the intersection near Chen Yue Fu when a nanny van stopped in the middle of the road, blocking the intersection.
Zhou Yinhe cursed under his breath, opened the car door and got out.
Ruan MiaoMiao got out of the nanny van, saw Zhou Yinhe, and ran over with red eyes.
"Senior Zhou Yinhe, can you stop targeting me? Some things aren't at all what the internet says; my older female cousin might be angry that I didn't help her explain things before, so she's treating me this way. I've already explained it to them, but they refuse to believe what I say."
Wen Ling lowered the car window and watched the scene unfold like a spectator.
Ruan MiaoMiao was busy making tea in front of Zhou Yinhe, not noticing that Wen Ling was also there.
"Senior Zhou Yinhe, I know you like my older sister, but you can't just—"
Zhou Yinhe stepped back, raised a hand to cover his nose, frowned and interrupted her: "Wait a moment, what's that smell on you?"
Ruan MiaoMiao blinked; when she had just gotten out of the car, she asked her assistant for her usual perfume—a fairly sweet women's fragrance that fans had often praised as suiting her.
"I……"
Zhou Yinhe recoiled in disgust a few more steps, "It's overpowering."
He turned and got back into the car; the bodyguard from the vehicle behind them got out and walked over.
"Move their car out of the way—it's annoying. Hot weather just makes it easy to attract mosquitoes."
After saying that, Zhou Yinhe raised the car window, while Wen Ling remained leaning against the window, watching the commotion.
The bodyguard strode up to the nanny van's driver's seat, pulled open the door, directly dragged the driver out, then got in and drove the vehicle away with extreme skill, parked it at the roadside, got out alone, and left the assistant sitting in the back seat, trembling with fright.
"You!" Ruan MiaoMiao pointed at the bodyguard, her cheeks flushing red with anger.
She turned to look for Zhou Yinhe again, but saw Wen Ling, and her steps halted in shock.
Wen Ling raised a hand and waved at her with a mischievous smile: "Cousin, good evening—would you like to come over to my place?"
Ruan MiaoMiao opened her mouth, but before she could speak, Wen Ling said with a regretful expression, "Never mind; Zhou Yinhe doesn't like the perfume you're wearing—next time you change it, I'll invite you again."
The car had already been moved; Zhou Yinhe started it up, brushed past Ruan MiaoMiao's body and continued forward. She was startled by his driving, as if he were about to hit her, she stepped back, her heel twisted, and she fell straight to the ground.
The assistant got out of the car, ran over and helped her up, about to comfort her, when he heard Ruan MiaoMiao's voice, grinding her teeth, full of hatred.
"A petty person has gotten his way."
The assistant sighed, helped Ruan MiaoMiao into the car.
Ruan MiaoMiao lowered her head, thought for a moment, and told the driver, "Go to the Chu residence."
The driver, still shaken from being roughly pulled out and thrown to the ground, heard her and asked cautiously, "Miss Ruan, we've already been to the Chu residence."
Ruan MiaoMiao, already addled by anger, paused and continued, "Then let's go back to the Ruan residence; I want to find my mother."
Having her mother go to the Qin family to ask for help with this matter, she couldn't believe her grandfather would abandon his own daughter and granddaughter with such a plea; if he did, she couldn't believe that as a junior, Qin Yuchen could watch his elders behave like that.
The driver nodded and soon started the car.
The Ruan household is now a shadow of its former self, leaving only a villa; when Ruan MiaoMiao arrived, her father and mother were arguing loudly enough that she could hear them clearly even standing in the courtyard.
