Chapter 183: Slap, Do You Want It?
The message sent to Zhou Yinhe was still turning over, but unexpectedly, when Wen Ling left the Chu family, she sent it to Zhou Yinhe.
After seeing the message, Zhou Yinhe immediately went downstairs, drove to the Chu family, and while doing so called Wen Ling; after she answered, he felt much more at ease.
What's going on?
Wen Ling didn't tell him, only smiling and saying, "It was a mix‑up; actually Chu Yao made a mistake and was locked up by her brother. Afraid Chu Yao would seek help, they had everyone transferred away."
At that moment Zhou Yinhe sat in the car; the hand that had been gripping the steering wheel loosened only after hearing Wen Ling's words, but his voice remained stern as he asked, "Where are you? I'll come pick you up now."
"I'm already out, walking home. No need for you to come get me—I'll be home soon, so wait for me at home."
Zhou Yinhe wanted to pick her up, but Wen Ling chuckled, "If you come get me, what about the car? Park it by the road? Don't worry, I'll be home soon—bye."
After saying that she hung up, and her earlier bad mood had improved considerably thanks to Zhou Yinhe.
Wen Ling curled her lips, started the car, and drove toward Chen Yue Fu; on the long road near Chen Yue Fu she met Zhou Yinhe, who was standing by the roadside.
He leaned against the car door, his expression calm and deep, as if thinking about something.
Wen Ling stopped the car, got out and ran to him, throwing herself into his arms and hugging him tightly, smiling she asked, "Why are you waiting for me here?"
Zhou Yinhe chuckled lightly, "When I was on the phone with you just now, the car had already driven here, so I simply didn't go back and waited for you here."
Wen Ling made a sound, Zhou Yinhe lifted her and walked to her car, placed her in the passenger seat, then went around the front to the driver's seat. Wen Ling blinked at him and asked, "What about your car then?"
"It's nearby; later I'll have the steward arrange someone to come drive it."
"Okay." Wen Ling nodded and sat down, reassured.
Returning to Chen Yue Fu, the two elders didn't know where they had gone off to play again; Wen Ling asked, the steward said they weren't there, so she stopped asking. After all, these days Qin Lao had been taking Wen Lao around, soon to have toured all of Sijiucheng, and didn't need her granddaughter to accompany them.
She went back to her room, recalled the phone call from Chu Yao, and then called her back.
After the other party answered, Wen Ling got straight to the point: "I'm a friend of Chu Yao; she asked me to pass along a message…"
"What message?" the other party snorted, cutting her off, and sneered, "Is it really necessary? Just because we broke up, you send several people to talk to me—it's only been a few days, not years; do I still have to cling to her?"
Wen Ling frowned and asked, "What breakup?"—and there were still several people.
The other party didn't answer, only saying, "Tell her I'm not the sort of clingy person who will keep pestering her; let her rest easy."
He hung up, Wen Ling felt completely bewildered, and Zhou Yinhe came in from outside the room, still holding two half‑hanging cats; seeing her strange expression, he asked.
What's wrong?
Wen Ling didn't want to tell him someone else's privacy, so she just shook her head and, as an afterthought, took the Hehe Huh from Zhou Yinhe's arms.
At that moment the steward hurried upstairs; their room door wasn't closed, so he stood at the doorway and knocked on the open door, his expression somewhat solemn, saying, "Young master, the car has been smashed."
Zhou Yinhe frowned and said in a cold voice, "Who smashed it?"
That car was the one his eldest brother gave him; not to mention that Chen Yue Fu is in a wealthy district, but no matter where you put it, anyone with a bit of sense knows not to just go smash it—if they were from a prominent family in Sijiucheng, they'd certainly recognize it.
"They are relatives from the Zhai family who came from outside; among them were a few underage kids who, seeing the car looked nice, climbed onto it to play, and after they'd had enough they smashed it with stones."
Hearing that, Wen Ling laughed and said, "They've got good taste—specifically smashing the expensive one."
The steward smiled pursing his lips; on that road many luxury cars were parked, the most expensive being Zhou Yinhe's black supercar—whether the car cover, the decals, or the added rear wing, it was flashy and cool, sure to attract boys' fondness.
But having said that, liking something is one thing; smashing a car is another matter entirely.
Zhou Yinhe was extremely displeased, his anger surging; if it had been any other car in his garage he wouldn't have been so angry, but the one smashed was the gift from his elder brother.
"Do the Zhai family know about this?"
"I've already had the bodyguards take those boys to the Zhai family."
Zhou Yinhe crossed his arms, paced back and forth, and said in a cold voice, "Let's wait until the Zhai family arrives to talk."
Although he isn't exactly steady, he also wouldn't go so far as to bring people to someone's door and smash their home.
Wen Ling lightly scratched the chins of the two half‑hanging cats, glancing at Zhou Yinhe's face out of the corner of her eye with a smile.
First she comforted him: "It can be repaired, don't rush."
"I know." Zhou Yinhe pressed his lips, flung himself onto the sofa, and sighed, "My brother will definitely blame me for not cherishing that car when he finds out, and he'll keep nagging about it endlessly."
Wen Ling picked up Hehe, walked over to Zhou Yinhe, let go and tossed Hehe onto his belly; Zhou Yinhe yelped from the impact, making Wen Ling giggle.
"That hurts."
Wen Ling crouched beside his sofa, smiling as she fixed her gaze on Zhou Yinhe's expression, which mixed pain with amusement.
Hehe, unaware of being used, leisurely lounged on Zhou Yinhe's belly licking its fur; Heng Heng liked the older brother, came over and also jumped onto his belly.
Zhou Yinhe was still worrying, completely unprepared, and got hit by Heng Heng—whose size wasn't much smaller than Hehe's—eliciting another yelp.
Now his paternal feelings were gone, his worries vanished; Zhou Yinhe rose, picked up the two cats and threw them to the floor, then stood and said, "You bastards, even you are bullying me."
Wen Ling was still squatting on the ground; hearing his aggrieved complaint, she threw her head back and laughed loudly, forgetting she was still squatting, and laughing so unrestrainedly that she leaned back and ended up squatting on the ground again.
Although this fall wasn't heavy, for Wen Ling—who fears pain and has delicate skin—it also counted as a painful blow.
Zhou Yinhe was startled by her, then reacted, reaching out to pull her up while trying not to laugh.
"It really hurts." Wen Ling rubbed the sore spot where she had squatted, pouting, "Surely it's turned bruised."
Although Zhou Yinhe's car had been smashed, he still had the mood to tease Wen Ling.
"Shall I rub it for you?"
"???" Wen Ling raised her hand and bluntly pushed Zhou Yinhe's face away, "Get lost, no decorum."
Zhou Yinhe pursed his lips, "What decorum do I need when I'm with you?"
Wen Ling narrowed her eyes, enunciating each word: "No decorum needed—do you want this slap or not?"
"No, thanks." Zhou Yinhe shook his head vigorously, released Wen Ling's hand, and was about to change the subject when the steward came upstairs again and knocked on the door, saving him.
"Young master, the old lady of the Zhai family has arrived."
Zhou Yinhe turned his side profile toward the steward, who continued, "And Miss Zhai is here as well."
