Chapter 195: I Just Want to Hug You

~7 min read 1,351 words

Kids can't keep doing homework nonstop; why don't you rest a bit? Wait for the teacher to come, then continue. Go to the backyard and find your grandparents.

Qin Yuyang had long been unable to sit still; he nodded, stood up, and darted off.

Zhou Yinhe let out a breath of relief, quietly gazing at the scenery outside the window, feeling that this was what peaceful times were like.

The task of tutoring the child in homework had somehow turned a carefree, unrestrained young master into a madman.

He got up, dragging his already weak legs to the elevator; he had no strength left, didn't want to climb even a single step of stairs, just wanted to hurry back to his room to rest and replenish the brain cells that had just been devastated.

Qin Yuyang walked to the backyard, saw his sister sitting between the two grandfathers, trotted over, crouched by the river, and asked: "There are actually edible fish here?"

Wen Ling asked him: "Have you finished your homework?"

"No," he said casually, "the fifth brother said he'd find a teacher to tutor me; I'll do it after the teacher arrives."

Wen Ling pressed her lips to hold back laughter, turned her face to look at the fish, while Wen Lao helplessly patted her, indicating she shouldn't hurt the child's self-esteem.

What self-respect does he have? The two people teaching him have both gone on strike, and yet he still talks about self-respect?

The housekeeper worked quickly; before long, a bespectacled teacher with a somewhat stern expression approached. Wen Ling always had an instinctive respect for teachers, so she rose and smiled.

"Hello, teacher, thank you for your trouble."

The stern female teacher gave a gentle smile, thinking that in a family like this, there wouldn't be much to respect; at least she had visited other households before, where those young masters and misses all had their noses in the air, being utterly spoiled and willful.

Wen Ling felt a bit guilty toward this teacher who looked stern but smiled gently; she cleared her throat awkwardly and said: "Um, teacher, my younger cousin… so if you really can't stand it, don't push yourself."

The female teacher went to look at Qin Yuyang; he seemed somewhat obedient, so she thought it shouldn't be that bad.

She was mistaken; the teacher could no longer control her expression, remained silent for a long while, adjusted her emotions, and continued teaching while suppressing her anger.

Wen Ling stood behind them for a moment, then helplessly told the housekeeper: "If the teacher wants to leave, pay her five times the usual rate."

The housekeeper nodded, and Wen Ling turned and went upstairs; she couldn't bear to watch any longer, fearing she might otherwise feel like hitting the child.

Zhou Yinhe was in the room; Wen Ling pushed the door open, didn't find him in the living room, so she proceeded to the inner bedroom.

Seeing him lying motionless on the bed, Wen Ling found it a bit amusing, walked to the bedside, imitated his posture by lying down, turned her head to look at him, and asked: "What's wrong?"

Zhou Yinhe didn't lift his head, only shook it and murmured: "Nothing, just let me rest a bit."

Wen Ling couldn't resist reaching up to ruffle the hair at the back of his head, then continued: "Are you upset because you can't teach Qin Yuyang, or because you're angry?"

Zhou Yinhe finally lifted his face to look at her, looking aggrieved, and said: "Both."

"Oh dear, it's not just you who can't teach him; Lu Zhaoye can't either." Wen Ling tried to console him.

But he didn't appreciate it, giving a light snort: "If Lu Zhaoye can't teach him, it just means he's incapable."

……

He can't, you can.

Wen Ling wisely closed her mouth, slowly rubbing his cheek with her hand to soothe him; Zhou Yinhe leaned toward her, resting his arm on her back, sighing.

"We're going to Guishan tomorrow; have you let your aunt and uncle know?"

Zhou Yinhe had also forgotten; nowadays he's constantly immersed in the gentle countryside, so he wouldn't remember such a trivial matter. He only said: "My dad surely knows, after all I arranged for a plane to come, and that day at the bar I mentioned it to them—my sister and the others were there, so they'll surely tell my mom."

Wen Ling furrowed her brows: "You should go back and check, regardless of whether they know; we'll be away at Guishan for quite a while."

Zhou Yinhe stared into her eyes for a moment, pressed his lips, and obediently complied.

He got up to change clothes; while adjusting his collar in front of the mirror he sighed, and Wen Ling behind him asked, puzzled: "What's wrong?"

"Nothing." Zhou Yinhe shook his head.

He was scheming something in his heart that he couldn't let Wen Ling know for the time being; feeling uneasy, his emotions floated unsettled, making him somewhat uncomfortable.

Wen Ling stepped forward to tidy him up, patted his shoulder, and tiptoed to kiss him.

Zhou Yinhe didn't want to go, reaching out and saying: "I…"

"Hurry up, don't dawdle." Wen Ling swiftly swatted his hand away and stepped back.

"I just want to hug you."

"No, if you hug me you'll never let go." Wen Ling turned and walked away, giving Zhou Yinhe no chance.

Zhou Yinhe let out an "ai" sound, didn't call out to stop her, only hearing Wen Ling say: "Hurry up, it's getting dark; go back and have dinner with your uncle and aunt, stay the night, and come back tomorrow."

In Zhou Yinhe's eyes, her intention was especially obvious—wasn't it just that she found him clingy? So she was sending him away to avoid him for the night.

Zhou Yinhe caught up to her, grabbed her arm and wouldn't let go, pursing his lips in dissatisfaction and asking: "Are you annoyed with me?"

"Listen to yourself—does that even make sense?" Wen Ling gave him a sideways glance; "You're not trying to drag me along and not let go, are you? If so, I'll just take Zhou Yinhe downstairs with me."

"That's exactly what you mean."

He persisted, really being difficult to deal with; Wen Ling sighed and had to explain: "I really don't mean that; please don't overthink it, okay?"

Wen Lao and Qin Lao walked in, just happened to hear the two speaking in tongue‑twister‑like fashion, and wondered: "What's with all this 'this meaning, that meaning'?"

"Nothing."

At that moment, Qin Yuyang called out to Zhou Yinhe; Zhou Yinhe instantly released Wen Ling's hand, as if a flood or ferocious beast were chasing him, greeted the two elders, and strode out.

Qin Yuyang walked over, puzzled, looking at the three trying not to laugh, and asked: "Why did the fifth brother leave?"

Wen Ling pressed her lips and smiled: "Nothing, he's just in a hurry to go home."

"Alright, I still wanted to ask how the fifth brother would solve that problem." Qin Yuyang sighed, turned and walked back to the desk, biting his pen in a daze.

It seems the teacher was driven away by anger.

Qin Lao gritted his teeth and said to Wen Ling: "I really need to ask your uncle and aunt whether they switched the baby at birth; the Qin family simply doesn't have such a stupid child."

Wen Lao, watching the commotion without minding the fuss, chuckled: "Switching babies is impossible; Yuyang's face clearly shows he's from your Qin family—probably he inherited it from you, so you'd better reflect on yourself."

Seeing that the two were about to argue again, Wen Ling quickly changed the subject, steering the conversation elsewhere.

"After we finish Guishan, we'll accompany you to visit other provinces and cities of Hua Guo."

"Sure, you guys arrange it." Wen Lao had no objection; he just wanted to go to Guishan, and as for where to go after leaving Guishan, it would be up to his granddaughter.

No sooner had his words fallen than he suddenly recalled something else.
