Chapter 204: Try it, it

~7 min read 1,255 words

Zhou Yinhe tucked Wen Ling's arm into the blanket and brushed her hair behind her.

Wen Ling then thought to ask Zhou Yinhe.

"Where were you just going?"

"Go check the venue, where else could I go?" Zhou Yinhe lowered his head and kissed her hair.

Wen Ling pursed her lips, clung to Zhou Yinhe's waist, and drowsily muttered: "Take me to see it too."

Zhou Yinhe closed his eyes and lightly uttered two words: "Not taking you."

"Stingy."

"Mm-hmm."

The two slept soundly; when they woke, the rain had lessened considerably, pattering, which made Wen Ling want to go out and play.

She dragged the reluctant Zhou Yinhe into changing into a waterproof windbreaker, then dragged the reluctant Zhou Yinhe out, walking and admonishing: "You don't mind the rain when scouting the venue; now that it's lighter, why are you still complaining, you nitpicker."

Zhou Yinhe had his own reasoning, being pulled along, he walked slowly behind her: "Scouting the venue is for marrying a wife; now it's just to go out and get wet for nothing."

"How could it be getting wet for nothing? You're out with me now, you can cheer me up." Wen Ling also had her own reasoning, speaking righteously: "If you cheer me up now, I'll definitely agree to your proposal gladly later."

They passed through the hotel lounge, bickering as they walked; when they finally stumbled out of the hotel, the man sitting by the corner window drinking coffee slowly lifted his head.

He watched their retreating backs and smiled, curling his lips.

He picked up the phone placed aside and called back the person who kept messaging him.

The woman's voice was sharp as she questioned: "Why aren't you replying to my messages? Did you use me and then run?"

The man chuckled lightly, set the cup back on the table, and said nonchalantly: "Zhao Xingtang, as long as you behave, you'll get what's due; who made you insist on finding Wen Ling, raising their suspicions? I haven't settled the score with you yet."

"I went to find Wen Ling with your consent; what right do you have to say that now?" Zhao Xingtang gritted her teeth, "I'm telling you, don't provoke me, or I'll expose your identity and see if the Zhou family will let you off."

The man showed no fear, stood up, walked to the floor-to-ceiling window, and uttered two words lightly: "As you wish."

He hung up the phone, idly pinching it in his palm; his face reflected in the mirror bore a resemblance to Zhou Yinhe.

——

Qin Lao and Wen Lao had known a few days before Wen Ling that Zhou Yinhe intended to propose; they also knew the two youngsters disliked being disturbed, so they either went out to play themselves or summoned the two's stewards to play cards, rarely visiting Wen Ling and Zhou Yinhe.

Wen Ling merely thought they disliked going out in the rain, so she didn't bother them.

Until the rain stopped, she invited the two to play together, but the two old gentlemen directly refused.

"We're not that clueless; would we go out with you two and be a third wheel?"

Wen Ling was stunned; she didn't realize when she and Zhou Yinhe had acted intimately in front of the two elders.

Qin Lao understood her meaning, gave a light snort, played the card in his hand, then said: "We're not stupid; alright, you two don't disturb us, go play quickly."

Wen Lao, on the other hand, said nothing, merely excitedly played the card he hadn't yet played, happily saying: "I won again."

He spread his hands, asking the other three for the coins to place in front of them.

Wen Ling stood aside for a long while, feeling like the odd one out, and turned to leave.

Zhou Yinhe stood at the doorway, leaning against the corridor wall; seeing her come out, he put his phone into his pocket, raised his hand to hook her waist, and asked with a smile: "I told you they wouldn't join us, you didn't believe me."

Wen Ling frowned and asked: "When we came out, we said we'd keep them company; how did it end up with each doing their own thing?"

Zhou Yinhe led her toward the elevator, walking and saying: "Because they understand, they don't want to disturb us."

Wen Ling felt Zhou Yinhe must have done something behind the scenes, but she had no evidence; she pouted unhappily and said nothing.

Zhou Yinhe took her back to the room and had her change into a white long gauze dress.

Seeing Wen Ling's doubtful gaze, he smiled helplessly: "You wanted to take photos, didn't you? The rain stopped today, the weather's nice—maybe there'll be a rainbow."

Wen Ling responded with an "oh," changed into the long dress, then took a pair of high heels from beside her and put them on.

"Do I need to do makeup?"

Zhou Yinhe bent down, cupped her pale, smooth face, examined it, shook his head: "You should leave some leeway for others."

Wen Ling chuckled: "Your mouth is so sweet?"

"Yeah," Zhou Yinhe curled his lips, lowered his head to press against the corner of Wen Ling's lips, and murmured: "Try it, it's really sweet."

Wen Ling let out a muffled sound from his kiss, but didn't dodge; she wrapped her arms around his neck to deepen the kiss.

Usually at this time, Zhou Yinhe wouldn't let her go out again, but today was an exception; even though his eyes were red, he still released Wen Ling, turned, walked out of the wardrobe to the bathroom, and washed his face with cold water.

Wen Ling slowly followed behind him, leaning against the doorframe and smiling: "You've been acting odd today."

Zhou Yinhe's hand paused while washing his face; he feigned calm: "Where's the oddness?" He lifted his head, looked at Wen Ling through the mirror, curled his lips, and asked: "Because I had a reaction but didn't touch you?"

Having been together for a while and having done so many shameless things, Wen Ling's skin had thickened considerably; she admitted frankly: "Yeah."

"It's not that I don't want to touch you; mainly, I don't have a condom." Zhou Yinhe said while wiping his hands: "I was thinking of buying one when I come back later."

Wen Ling looked astonished, clapped her hands, and sarcastically praised: "Wow, you're being so considerate now; you didn't used to be like this before, why are you so attentive now?"

Zhou Yinhe didn't feel shy at her words; he stepped forward, embraced Wen Ling, and whispered: "Sorry for making you take medicine before; that was my fault, I promise I won't do that again."

Wen Ling didn't mind it much; seeing his sincerity, she raised her hand and patted his back.

"I was just joking offhand to tease you; I don't mind taking medicine, and besides, the medicine I've been taking lately is what you had prepared, and it's harmless."

"I know." At times, Wen Ling dotes on him, provided he doesn't go looking for trouble for no reason.

After tidying up, the two headed out; after just a few steps, Zhou Yinhe suddenly remembered something.

"You wait here; I forgot to grab the camera."

Wen Ling gave a dazed "ah," watched his hurried silhouette, blinked, and glanced down at the camera in her hand.

She murmured: "The camera's with me..."

Zhou Yinhe had already returned to the room; where could he hear her words?
