Chapter 218: I only want you

~7 min read 1,269 words

Zhou Yinhe patted him a few times without courtesy, startling the somewhat deeply sleeping Qi Zhan, who shivered.

Qi Zhan got up from bed and shouted irritably, "What's up?"

"Arrange a driver to send me home." Zhou Yinhe leaned against the door, speaking low: "Hurry up."

Qi Zhan rose angrily, flung the door open, and Zhou Yinhe, caught off guard, stumbled backward, almost falling.

"You don't have a driver? Have your driver come pick you up."

Zhou Yinhe furrowed his brows, speaking lazily: "I haven't used a driver in a long time; if I call them now, they aren't prepared, and who knows how long it'll take."

Qi Zhan was amused by his matter-of-fact attitude and asked, "Then is my driver ready?"

"Why not?" Zhou Yinhe raised an eyebrow and retorted, "You used to go out playing at midnight all the time; your driver works in shifts of two or three, so surely one can come right away."

"Can't you just go back tomorrow? Why go back now? Wen Ling is already asleep." Qi Zhan let out a breath, asking helplessly.

Zhou Yinhe pressed his lips, feeling somewhat wronged, and said, "She's not by my side; I feel uneasy and can't sleep."

"... You're really an ancestor." Qi Zhan irritably scratched his head, turned to get his phone to call the driver, staring at Zhou Yinhe while dialing.

The driver didn't answer; Qi Zhan directly showed the phone to Zhou Yinhe, saying, "No answer—definitely because when they drove us back they saw we were drunk and just went to rest."

"Go back and rest; if you go back now you'll just disturb Wen Ling's rest. Wait until you wake up, then go back and apologize properly." Qi Zhan patted Zhou Yinhe's shoulder, pushed him out, and with a bang the door closed.

Zhou Yinhe opened his mouth, sighed, went downstairs to the living room, and casually turned on the wall lamp.

He leaned on the sofa, holding his phone; the screen showed a photo of him and Wen Ling, their faces pressed together, perfectly matched.

The more he looked, the more aggrieved he felt; he simply couldn't stay at Qi Zhan's house, stood up, grabbed his coat, and opened the door to leave.

Upstairs, Qi Zhan yawned, sent a message in the group, then flopped onto the bed and fell asleep.

【Can't stop him, he's already left.】

Zhou Yinhe had no idea that Qi Zhan's earlier call to the driver was just for show; he rushed downstairs, tried to hail a cab on the roadside but couldn't get one, so he simply booked a ride on his phone.

The driver arrived quickly; not long after, he stopped in front of him, seeing his striking appearance and demeanor, he smiled and asked, "Are you a celebrity?"

"Not."

"You're so handsome and live in such a high-end place; I thought you must be some celebrity."

The driver seemed quite talkative, but Zhou Yinhe didn't want to speak at the moment, gazing silently at the scenery outside.

Perhaps noticing he didn't want to talk, the driver also kept silent and drove on.

Arriving at Chen Yue Fu, outside vehicles couldn't enter, so Zhou Yinhe had to walk in; when he reached the gate, he stood there dazed for a moment before gently opening the door.

Inside the villa all was quiet; a sour feeling welled up in Zhou Yinhe's heart that he couldn't put into words; he lowered his eyes to change shoes and sighed silently.

Suddenly, specks of light lit up in the living room, slowly spreading from the entrance; Zhou Yinhe widened his eyes at the sight, somewhat incredulous.

He stood there, dazedly gazing at the end of the lights; Wen Ling wore a white strapless chiffon dress, her long curled hair draped over her shoulders, gazing at him gently.

Zhou Yinhe stepped forward a few paces and finally made out the décor in the living room, as well as a mountain of boxes.

Wen Ling said softly: "You don't know how hard it was to prepare a gift for you—you have everything, so I had to search online and ask your friends."

She slowly walked to his side, reached out to touch his slightly cool cheek, and smiled gently: "Do you feel wronged? Have you cried?"

Zhou Yinhe nodded then shook his head, speaking in a low voice: "I feel wronged, but I haven't cried."

"Liar." Wen Ling curved her lips, her slender finger tapping his lip: "I saw you crying in the video they posted."

Zhou Yinhe rubbed his eyes, speaking muffled: "You already knew."

"Yeah, I not only know you cried when drunk, but I also know you said I'm unreasonable."

"I didn't say that."

"But the meaning is pretty much the same, right?" Wen Ling tiptoed, wrapped her arms around his neck, and said, "Let me comfort you, okay?"

Zhou Yinhe turned his face away, feeling wronged, and said: "You're doing all this just to deliberately drive me away so you can prepare these gifts."

"Yeah." Wen Ling took his hand and led him to the pile of gifts, gesturing for him to open them.

"These are all I gathered; why don't you open them and see?"

Zhou Yinhe didn't want to open them; he'd rather hold Wen Ling, wanting her to be gentler and more considerate toward him.

He directly wrapped his arms around her waist, lowered his head and buried it in her neck and shoulder; Wen Ling helplessly rubbed his hair.

"I prepared these carefully for you; don't you want to take a look?"

"I don't want anything; I only want you." Zhou Yinhe blinked, his eyes brimming with tears, and complained: "Don't treat me like this again; you have no idea how miserable I feel."

"All right, shall I apologize to you?"

"No." Zhou Yinhe began kissing her neck, one after another, utterly enticing.

"Wen Ling: "You don't want the gifts?"'

"Zhou Yinhe shook his head: "No."'

He scooped her up in a horizontal hold and carried her upstairs, walking and asking: "How did you know I'd come back now?"

"I guessed you wouldn't stay long at Qi Zhan's, but I didn't know when you'd come back—Qi Zhan told me." Wen Ling shook her lower leg, smiling narrowly, and said: "I've bribed your close friends, so be careful when you go out with them from now on."

"I'm not going to do anything; the bribery's done." Zhou Yinhe kicked the door open with his knee, then used his foot to swing it shut, a series of motions smooth and fluid.

Wen Ling was set beside the bed by him; Zhou Yinhe stood nearby, looking down at her, having finished his cooing, finally able to see the formal dress she wore.

"You…"

Wen Ling lifted her foot and lightly kicked him, signaling him to move; she stood up, and from somewhere produced a small box.

Zhou Yinhe recognized the box; it was the same kind used for the ring when he proposed.

"I had long guessed you wouldn't open those gifts," Wen Ling said, her slender fingertips turning the box; seeing Zhou Yinhe's gaze fixed on it, she hid the box behind her back.

"I originally wanted to find a more romantic place outside, but I thought you know Sijiucheng so well that if I took you there, you'd have figured it out before I even did anything."

"So I just did it at home, creating some emotional contrast; perhaps your impression would be deeper."

"Of course, the most important point is that I think you'd rather find a place convenient for bullying me."
