Chapter 245

~7 min read 1,339 words

I can't sleep, I'm uncomfortable here.

Zhou Yinhe blinked open his eyes in confusion, sat up and said, "Let's go home, we'll sleep there."

He got out of bed, glanced back at Wen Ling, who was obviously having difficulty moving, and, holding back a laugh, asked: "Um, shall I help you?"

Wen Ling glared: "Don't bother me!"

He chuckled, but still walked over and scooped Wen Ling up in a horizontal hold.

In a hurry to go home, not even having time to wash up, after changing clothes Zhou Yinhe carried Wen Ling downstairs.

On the way home Wen Ling had already fallen asleep; once home, Zhou Yinhe couldn't wake her no matter what, seeing Wen Ling uncomfortably curled up in the car seat, he bent over and picked her up, carrying her home.

After returning to the room, he sent Wen Ling back to her room to continue sleeping, then left the room silently.

Last night Wen Ling agreed to get back together with him; at first Zhou Yinhe wasn't that excited, after hanging up he fell asleep exhausted, but now he belatedly became excited.

He stood on the balcony, pressed his lips and let out a silent shout, laughing like a fool.

He bit his lip for a long while before slowly exhaling, clenching his fists.

Zhou Yinhe had even figured out where to hold the wedding; to avoid any mishap, he didn't even prepare for an engagement!

Finally suppressing that excitement, he went back to the room and held Wen Ling as they continued to sleep.

After being pestered by Zhou Yinhe for several days, Wen Ling never expected the Zhou family to suddenly appear in M Country.

She thought it would just be a meal with Zhou Yinhe, never expecting that upon opening the private room door, the table would be full of people.

…… Wen Ling tugged at Zhou Yinhe's sleeve and whispered: "Why didn't you tell me at all? And why are my grandfather and brother here too?"

Zhou Yinhe chuckled softly and said in a low voice: "Speaking of which, it's practically fate from two lifetimes; meeting the parents properly isn't too much, is it?"

Wen Ling was about to frown when Ning Qing had already stood up, walked to her side, gently took her hand, and softly said: "Ah Ling, hello, I'm Zhou Yinhe's mother."

Wen Ling was a bit nervous, but still smiled and greeted: "Auntie."

"Eh, hello." Ning Qing nodded, smiling even more happily, and continued: "Our sudden visit, please don't mind; we actually feel a bit abrupt, but my family's little troublemaker isn't very sensible, saying we should meet your family."

Wen Ling gave Zhou Yinhe a sideways glance, curled her lips and said: "No problem, it's only natural; we've been together for quite a while."

Hearing her say that, the Zhou family all breathed a sigh of relief; Zhou Shuanglin stood up, his usually indifferent face showing a gentle smile for the first time.

Ah Ling, hello.

Uncle, hello.

Wen Ling was sensible and poised; Zhou Shuanglin looked at her with increasing satisfaction. Originally, because Wen Ling had caused his son to suffer, he harbored some dissatisfaction, but after learning it was due to his nephew that the little girl had endured such hardship, he felt even more guilty.

Consequently, his treatment of Wen Ling became even kinder.

Wen Lao stood to the side, smiling with narrowed eyes, obviously very pleased with this in-law.

Leaving aside other things, although the Wen family lacks nothing, every gift the Zhou family brought when they came shows their care for Wen Ling.

During the meal, the adults from both families chatted happily, especially Ning Qing.

Wen Ling's hand had been held by Zhou Yinhe the whole time; when she chatted with Zhou Yinhe's sister, she couldn't pull her hand back.

Zhou Qiyue gave Zhou Yinhe a meaningful glance, but instead gave him face by saying nothing.

After the meal, Wen Lao invited the Zhou family to stay at Wen Garden.

Although there are plenty of hotels around, it's definitely better to stay at home; Wen Garden is big, you can just stay there.

Ning Qing and Zhou Shuanglin hesitated a bit; Wen Lao continued: "Like this, you come back with me to stay; the younger generation can be left to Ah Ling, anyway it's still early, let them go play."

Alright, then let's do that.

The couple was taken away by Wen Lao, while Zhou Yinhe's older brother and sister followed Wen Ling and Zhou Yinhe as they left.

Wen Ling knew there were many fun places; as host, she naturally wanted to take them to play, but Zhou Yanqiu and his wife plus Zhou Congyu still had work to attend to, so she had the driver send them back to the hotel.

Finally the gathering ended, and Zhou Yinhe and Wen Ling could finally be alone together.

Wen Ling raised her hand to pinch Zhou Yinhe's face, half-smiling: "You actually kept this from me."

Zhou Yinhe let out a yelp, covering Wen Ling's hand as he begged for mercy: "It's not that I was afraid you wouldn't agree, so I just went ahead first."

"You still have the nerve to say that? You scared me to death." Wen Ling gritted her teeth, then grabbed Zhou Yinhe's face with both hands and kneaded it; seeing his handsome face distorted in her grip, she finally let go.

Seeing Wen Ling about to leave, Zhou Yinhe clung to her side, hugging her, and asked: "Will you marry me?"

Wen Ling turned her head to look at him, furrowed her brows, and asked: "Aren't you going to propose?"

"I'm afraid of accidents; I can wait until after we're married to make it up to you." Zhou Yinhe lowered his eyes; that engagement still pains him to this day, and the hurt hasn't lessened with time.

Wen Ling stared at the emotion in his eyes, the hurt obvious; she lowered her gaze, wrapped her arms around his waist, and softly said: "Okay, I agree to you—no engagement, but wouldn't getting married be a bit too soon?"

"Not too soon, Ah Ling—we've had two lifetimes..." Zhou Yinhe bent down, rubbed his cheek against hers, and coaxed softly: "Please."

Wen Ling's heart softened at his coquettishness; seeing him lean in to kiss her, she narrowed her eyes and gave a muffled hum, which counted as agreement.

She didn't care much about those formalities; if it could make him happy, agreeing was fine.

After Wen Ling agreed, Zhou Yinhe let go of her and called Ning Qing, telling her to come back early to prepare.

He was anxious and excited, but Ning Qing didn't understand his meaning and frowned.

"We just got here; why the rush to go back and prepare what?"

Zhou Yinhe curved his lips, caught Wen Ling's hand and brought it to his lips to kiss, laughing lightly as he said: "Prepare for my and Ah Ling's wedding—two ceremonies, one in Hua Guo and one in M Country."

He furrowed his brows, suddenly realized, and said: "Don't rush; first discuss it with Grandfather Wen."

Wen Ling was busy replying to emails on the side; hearing Zhou Yinhe's words, she rolled her eyes.

Typing with one hand was too troublesome; just as she pulled her hand back, Zhou Yinhe frowned, seeing she was busy and not wanting to disturb her, he directly hooked his arm around hers, anyway he just wanted to stick to her and not let go.

Wen Ling helplessly glanced at him; seeing he was still on the phone, she gave him face and stayed silent.

After Zhou Yinhe finally hung up the phone and came over, using all four limbs, Wen Ling gave him a look and said: "Are you a plaster?"

"No, I'm a Dragon." Zhou Yinhe curved his lips, kissed her cheek, squinting his eyes with a smile: "But you used to say I was a Dog."

Wen Ling's head ached, and a scene suddenly flashed before her eyes.
