Chapter 98

~8 min read 1,414 words

Wen Ling smiled, and Yi Si continued: "I know his identity is not ordinary; do you think we have the guts to play those tricks in front of him?"

Indeed, we lack the guts, but we're just afraid someone will be arrogant and overconfident, not knowing the strength of the Zhou Family.

Yi Si naturally understood her concern, and promised: "I will inform everyone who comes, so they will pay attention."

Wen Ling had no choice but to agree, after sending a message to Zhou Yinhe, she lay down on the bed to rest and recuperate.

Last night she had been tossed about too much, and she had forced herself to pretend nothing was wrong in front of her grandfather for so long; now that she was alone, her mind relaxed all at once, and she soon fell asleep.

Zhou Yinhe is particular about his bed, and even more so about Wen Ling; in an unfamiliar place, as long as Wen Ling is there, the bed doesn't matter to him, but now, in an unfamiliar room with an unfamiliar bed, he tosses and turns unable to sleep, so he gets up and stands by the floor-to-ceiling window.

He used to come to M Country often, each time feeling uncomfortable, and would leave after a few days; speaking honestly, he actually misses home more than his several older brothers and sisters.

Zhou Yinhe sighed, lay on the long sofa the butler thoughtfully placed beside the floor-to-ceiling window, lowered his eyes and closed them to rest his spirit; even if he wasn't sleepy, a little rest would be good.

Man proposes, God disposes; the phone tossed beside the bed suddenly rang, and Zhou Yinhe, annoyed, got up to answer.

"Xiao Wu, my mom said you're in M Country; tonight I'm going to a concert, wait for me to finish and then come find me." Zhou Qiyue knew he didn't like hearing that, and didn't insist, only telling him the ending time so he could come.

Zhou Yinhe frowned, wondering how coincidental; Zhou Qiyue is attending a concert tonight, and Wen Ling also plans to take him tonight.

He casually asked: "Are there many concerts tonight?"

Although Zhou Qiyue wondered why he asked that, she still gave a detailed explanation.

The gist is that tonight's concert is special, and all others must be avoided, so there is only one tonight.

After hearing this, Zhou Yinhe was slightly taken aback; it really was quite a coincidence. He readily agreed, then after hanging up he hesitated whether to tell Wen Ling, but thought it would be fine to introduce her when they met.

He scratched his head, opened WeChat and glanced; the group he had previously blocked was now popping up message after message.

【No fun playing without Xiao Wu.】

【What can you do? Xiao Wu is just that kind of person who values lust over friendship.】

【Keep it down, is this something to be proud of?】

【If Xiao Wu sees this later, he'll definitely curse.】

【Do they even have time to pay attention to us? They're just busy playing with their future dear wife.】

Zhou Yinhe glanced at domestic time, frowned and asked in the group: "【It's already what o'clock in the early morning, you're not sleeping yet, still have energy to discuss me.】"

Then someone posted a photo; the scene was extremely lively, with Jiang Jibai and others appearing in the photo, all being the few people who had just been chatting in the group.

Zhou Yinhe twitched the corner of his mouth, ignored them, locked his phone and went to open the room door.

He cautiously poked his head out to glance at the hallway; seeing no one, he made his way to Wen Ling's room.

Before Wen Ling brought him back to her room, she had shown him her room; he had especially noted it down, making it easy to find.

Wen Ling has the habit of not locking her door when resting at Wen Garden; the people there also know these masters like to nap, and won't disturb them whether they have business or not, so Zhou Yinhe merely turned the handle slightly and the door opened.

He stepped in lightly; Wen Ling's room had the curtains drawn tight, it was dark and lightless. Zhou Yinhe feared that random touching would wake her, so he only used his phone to illuminate the floor, soon feeling his way to the bedside.

Just as he was about to lie down beside Wen Ling, she suddenly sat up and lunged at him, smiling narrowly: "What are you doing? A surprise attack?"

Zhou Yinhe was already guilty as a thief; being startled by Wen Ling made him jump, and with her fragrant softness in his arms, he could only explain: "I'm not used to beds; I'm tired but can't sleep."

Wen Ling wondered: "Then you slept well last night, didn't you? And when you stayed at Lang Po Wan, I saw you sleeping soundly as well."

"That's because you were there."

In the darkness his eyes glimmered slightly; Wen Ling patted his shoulder, signaling him to lie down.

"Then just sleep here; my grandfather gets up late, so we can leave before he wakes up."

As for the butler and servants, having spent most of their lives at Wen Garden, they naturally know who not to offend, and won't gossip.

Zhou Yinhe embraced her contentedly; as sleepiness washed over him, he still didn't forget to ask: "Did you apply the medicine?"

Wen Ling hummed in response, turned over to sleep with her back to him; fortunately the air conditioner was set low, otherwise this embrace would have overheated her.

The two enjoyed a quiet, peaceful nap; Wen Ling never imagined that when they woke up, Wen Lao would already be waiting for them.

The butler gave a cautious reminder, and Wen Ling instantly knew how to respond.

Upon seeing Wen Lao, sure enough the old man had a stern face directed at the two, mainly at Zhou Yinhe.

Wen Ling smiled and said: "Grandfather, why did you wake up so early today?"

"Hmm, afraid some shameless person might sneak into your room." He spoke with a sarcastic tone; Zhou Yinhe could obviously tell, opened his mouth to explain, but Wen Ling had already taken over: "How could that be? If I didn't go to his room to call him, he'd still be asleep; besides, catching a flight is also tiring."

"Really?" Wen Lao slowly shifted his gaze to the butler; the butler dared not speak the truth, merely smiled and nodded.

Wen Ling smiled narrowly: "You see, there really isn't any."

While saying this, she pinched Zhou Yinhe's palm, signaling him not to admit; he pressed his lips together and could only say: "Wen Grandfather, please rest assured."

Wen Lao grunted, turned his face away from the two, and ordered the servants to bring afternoon tea.

The three sat together; Wen Lao asked: "When you go to the concert, remember to bring a few more bodyguards; M Country has been unsafe lately, and tonight's concert attendees are all big shots from M Country, so trouble could easily break out."

"I know." Wen Ling picked up a piece of dessert and shoved it toward Zhou Yinhe, whispering: "Delicious; the pastry chefs at Wen Garden are very skilled."

Zhou Yinhe curved his lips to accept it; Wen Lao let out a cold snort, placed the white porcelain teacup on the table with a crack, reminding Wen Ling not to forget him.

Who would have thought Wen Ling would smile, glance at him, then place the dessert before Wen Lao; Wen Lao wore an expression of "this will do," just about to take it, but Wen Ling had already taken it back.

"Your blood sugar is high; you can't eat this."

Wen Lao's face turned cold in an instant; unwilling to stare at his precious granddaughter, he fiercely glared at Zhou Yinhe instead.

Zhou Yinhe's hand holding the dessert paused; Wen Ling, however, lifted his hand, gesturing: "Eat, it's delicious."

"Okay." Zhou Yinhe took a bite; he doesn't particularly like sweets, really can't tell if it's good or not, but still praised it.

Wen Lao stood up, huffing and puffing as he left; Zhou Yinhe watched his retreating back and asked softly: "Your grandfather won't stop us from being together, will he?"

He really couldn't act arrogantly in front of Wen Lao; after all, he still wants to marry her treasure.
