Chapter 35: I've Already Set the Flag
Liu Yiyan feels that Xu Heng treats her quite well.
He is wealthy, considerate, and good in bed; if not for the difference in their status and standing, being his girlfriend would surely be very happy.
But Liu Yiyan does not believe Xu Heng can make money by making movies.
Making movies is inherently a money-burning endeavor, and in the past two years, many films claiming to be big investments and big productions have flopped; she told Xu Heng that if he has the ability, just getting her a bit-part role would be enough, as she would be satisfied just to be on screen.
Hearing this, Xu Heng shook his head and did not continue discussing the movie matter with her.
He is definitely going to make the movie, especially with fifty times the profit right before his eyes; it would be hard for any capitalist to walk away from that.
However, the specific details will have to wait until Liu Yiyan comes over to talk face-to-face; at that time, he will have to properly criticize this girl during their "biology lesson."
No ambition, and far too timid.
With him as her backer, she is still thinking about climbing up from the very bottom of the entertainment industry...
On September 3rd, Sheng Bo dragged his suitcase and returned to the Dormitory, sweating profusely.
He had gone to Modu to see his girlfriend two days ago and was delayed quite a bit; if it weren't for their major having classes on the 6th, who knows how much longer he would have lingered.
He also knew about Zhao Gaoyang's treat and had agreed to it; if a roommate is treating, as a brother, one must certainly go. He patted his chest and immediately changed his train ticket to Jinling from the 5th to the 3rd.
Zhao Gaoyang gave a thumbs up and said that a brother is someone who values loyalty.
"Women are like clothing, brothers are like limbs; what does a girlfriend even count for!"
"I hope you can be this tough in front of your girlfriend."
"Damn it!"
Cheng Huaiyu smirked, his right hand forming a circle while his left index finger moved in and out: "Bo Bo, did you do *this* with your girlfriend in Modu?"
"No, my girlfriend is very conservative; she said she'd only give it to me after we get married," Sheng Bo said.
"No way, you two have been dating for three or four years and haven't even done that?"
Cheng Huaiyu was shocked; they all knew Sheng Bo and his girlfriend had started dating back in high school, and with Sheng Bo frequently going to Modu to see her, the whole Dormitory assumed they were already in that kind of relationship, but the reality was the exact opposite.
After thinking for a long time, Cheng Huaiyu frowned: "Bo Bo, have you been kept as a backup?"
Because of Dan Yuyue, Cheng Huaiyu had been extremely sensitive to the topic of "backups" lately, so when Sheng Bo said this, he immediately felt something was off.
However, Sheng Bo laughed and cursed: "You bastard, you only know how to curse me; my relationship with my girlfriend is just fine! What about you, how far have you gotten with Dan Yuyue?"
Zhao Gaoyang also nodded repeatedly from the side: "Yeah, yeah, Cheng Ge, you're the boss of our Dormitory, and that woman Dan Yuyue is such a nympho, you must have slept with her, right?"
"..."
Cheng Huaiyu didn't know how to answer them for a moment; his current progress with Dan Yuyue was limited to holding hands, and he hadn't even reached second or third base, let alone home plate.
But out of a man's vanity, he still braced himself and said with a proud smile: "Of course, we hit a home run just a few days after we started dating. You know that youth hostel by the school gate? Yueyue and I go there three times a week!"
"Awesome!" Zhao Gaoyang complimented him without reservation.
Sheng Bo also said that Cheng Ge is still the best, and compared to him, his own girl-chasing skills are far behind, which made Cheng Huaiyu feel refreshed and smug.
In the afternoon, the three in the Dormitory all cleaned themselves up until they looked decent; even Sheng Bo, who believes in love, specifically took a shower and sprayed on some hair gel.
It wasn't that they wanted to pick up girls at the mixer, but with girls present, guys usually have to dress up a bit, at least so they don't lose face.
Consequently, when Xu Heng returned to the Dormitory from the library, he smelled a thick scent of perfume.
Zhao Gaoyang was holding a bottle of hair gel and asking Sheng Bo: "Bo Bo, how do you use this thing?"
"Damn, why are you using mine? Take some of Cheng Ge's to use; I'm just a small-time guy and can't afford this."
"Hehe, it's just that Cheng Ge doesn't use this hair gel stuff, and you're the only one in our Dormitory who has it."
This time, Zhao Gaoyang was the one who spent the most time dressing up in their Dormitory.
After all, the other three roommates had already dated, and they were only going to the gathering to support him rather than to find a girlfriend; only he was going with the intent of courtship.
Even a peacock knows to spread its tail and look flashy during mating season; Zhao Gaoyang was no different from a peacock right now.
"Don't I look like a little Louis Koo when I dress up like this~" Zhao Gaoyang said, admiring himself in the mirror.
"Your skin tone isn't dark enough; you need to learn from Principal Koo and go get a tan," Cheng Huaiyu said.
"Shall we go together?"
"Get lost, who wants to turn into skin as black as an African's."
Unlike the three in the Dormitory who were dressed to the nines, Xu Heng was still wearing the suit and trousers he had worn when he went out in the afternoon.
He had gone to the stock market in the afternoon to reorganize some things regarding his equity and bank cards; now that Xu Heng possessed over ten million in assets, he was a guest who received enthusiastic treatment whenever he entered a bank or the stock market, and the manager of the Industrial and Commercial Bank branch even made an exception to allow him to apply for a credit card as a university student.
Xu Heng smiled and said it wasn't necessary; he had only come to open a few more bank cards.
The manager waved a hand and said that was simple, waiving all the ticket-taking and queuing processes, and called over a young female bank clerk to get it done for him in a few moments.
Xu Heng didn't deposit money into these bank cards for the time being; once all the funds were withdrawn from the stock market, he planned to deposit the money into these cards in batches for different commercial purposes.
The manager wasn't in a hurry, bluntly stating that he should just think of their branch first the next time he needed to deposit money.
Xu Heng nodded and agreed politely; after finishing these tasks, he went to the library to retrieve the computer he had stored in a locker before returning to the Dormitory. By then, the sun was setting, and everyone was ready to leave, so he couldn't be bothered to change his clothes.
Zhao Gaoyang saw him going out in that outfit and grinned: "Xu Heng, these clothes are too formal and old-fashioned; how are you going to win a girl's heart!"
As he spoke, he shook his Adidas King sneakers, "We young people have to dress with more vitality! It makes a person look spirited."
"You're right," Xu Heng smiled politely and didn't say anything more.
After everyone in the Dormitory was ready, Zhao Gaoyang sent messages to the girls he had invited; the designated location was still the same place as their first mixer.
He now had confidence and felt that he should climb back up from wherever he had fallen.
Setting the place for this treat at the old spot was nothing more than wanting to tell those girls that he was no longer the person he used to be.
Everyone could see through this little scheme, but they didn't point it out.
Only Cheng Huaiyu patted Zhao Gaoyang on the shoulder and said that Yangzi had backbone, and that he admired that kind of person.
"That's for sure; today I'm going to let the brothers know what it means to be a dragon returning to the sea. If I can't take down Fan Xi, I'll wash my hair while doing a handstand," Zhao Gaoyang said, tossing his hair, quite pleased with himself.
"You still owe Old Xu a handstand hair wash; when are you going to pay it back?" Sheng Bo teased.
"Next time, definitely next time."
