Chapter 63: The Junior Sister Who Wants to Join the Esports Club
Next, Yu Huifang and Wang Li joined the Book Club and the Fashion Association respectively, and Chang Lingling also signed up for the Cycling Club.
Only Jiang Mengyuan had not shown any interest in any club from beginning to end.
Seeing this, Chang Lingling suggested that they all go take a look at the Anime Club's recruitment booth; if there was any club Jiang Mengyuan was most likely to join, it would probably be the Anime Club.
Neither Wang Li nor Yu Huifang had any objections; they felt that joining three clubs was enough to expand their social circles, and there was no point in wandering around any further, so they might as well go together—they were just idling in the dorm anyway.
Thus, the four roommates lined up and walked toward the Anime Club's recruitment booth.
The Anime Club's recruitment spot was on the curb not far past the Fourth Cafeteria, where there were two locust trees. There were far fewer students here compared to the club recruitment area at the cafeteria entrance, at least it wasn't as crowded as over there. Furthermore, the Anime Club had two large sunshades, which were very cool and shady. One sunshade was painted with flashy anime characters, very much in the Two-dimensional style, while the other sunshade appeared to be a sponsorship for the Anime Club, with the large words "Coca-Cola" written on it.
Was it sponsored by the school canteen? They didn't think much of it.
Because there were several male students queuing up to fill out registration forms in front of Jiang Mengyuan and the others, Jiang Mengyuan and her friends went under the Coca-Cola sunshade. In their understanding, whatever was connected to the Anime Club's recruitment booth must also be a place for Anime Club recruitment; it was just the difference between the Two-dimensional sunshade being the recruitment spot for the Anime Club's senior sisters and the Coca-Cola sunshade being the recruitment spot for the Anime Club's senior brothers.
"Pair of fives!"
"Can't beat it."
"Pair of queens, take that." Li Xu pulled out two queens and smiled at Zhao Gaoyang, "Many thanks to old Zhao for the cards, ha."
Zhao Gaoyang stared at Zheng Yang, dumbfounded: "Damn, Yangzi, what kind of trash hand do you have? You can't even beat a pair of fives?"
"A pair of fours plus a bomb."
"Then why did you let me send you a pair?"
"Didn't expect you to send such a big one."
"It's over, lost again."
After Li Xu passed the pair of queens, he had a five-card bomb left in his hand; the three of them as peasants couldn't stop him even if they tried.
"Collect the money, collect the money. Yangzi owes me two hours of internet fees, old Xu owes me one hour, and old Zhao, you owe me thirteen hours."
"Let's offset it. Zhao Gaoyang happens to owe me one hour, I'll offset it against your side; he owes you fourteen hours, he doesn't owe me anymore."
"Don't do that, old Xu, let's play two more rounds, I can definitely win it back."
"No, no."
Xu Heng put down the playing cards and patted his somewhat damp and stuffy trousers. Sitting under the sun playing cards on a hot day, even with a sunshade, it was still a bit hot; this feeling was not comfortable.
He stood up to stretch his limbs, and just then, he happened to see the dorm of Chang Lingling walking toward them.
"People are coming."
"Ah? Is there really someone who wants to join our club?" Li Xu was full of surprise. He also stood up behind Xu Heng. When he saw the few girls, the expression on his face became even more surprised, "Damn! There really is! And they're girls! Quick, quick, quick, Yangzi, get up and look at the junior sisters!"
"Where are the junior sisters? Where are the junior sisters?"
"Right behind you! Turn your head."
Li Xu twisted Zheng Yang around half a circle, and Zheng Yang immediately saw Chang Lingling right in front of him: "What a stunning junior sister."
"Stunning? Is there something wrong with your eyesight? Does this count as stunning?" Zhao Gaoyang, who also saw Chang Lingling, said disdainfully. Chang Lingling looked much worse than Fan Xi; at most, she was a girl who wasn't hard to look at, but she couldn't be called stunning.
Zheng Yang picked his nose and snorted: "You liberal arts students don't understand at all. Come to our Computer Science department, and you'll know what it's like to suffer from not being able to find a single floor tile that an opposite-sex person has stepped on in the classroom."
"Why?"
"Because even our teachers are all men."
"Haha, then you guys are indeed miserable. In our School of Liberal Arts, one man is shared by ten women, and there are still leftovers."
"How can you compare science and liberal arts!" Zheng Yang said resentfully, then added, "Regardless, strike first to gain the advantage. Brother, the early bird gets the worm."
While Zhao Gaoyang was still pondering what he meant by that, Zheng Yang had already walked out of the sunshade and smilingly approached the girls. Only then did Zhao Gaoyang realize belatedly that he was going to strike up a conversation.
"Are you junior sisters looking to join our club?"
By the side of the road, Zheng Yang revealed what he thought was a sunny and cheerful smile to Chang Lingling and the other three.
This gave Chang Lingling and the others a fright.
In broad daylight, Zheng Yang had a bird's nest of hair, a sallow complexion, was as thin as a bamboo pole, and had deep, heavy dark circles under his eyes. He looked like a zombie from a Hong Kong zombie movie; anyone who saw him would subconsciously think they had run into a ghost.
"Is this what a nerd who likes the Two-dimensional is like? Too scary. Yuanyuan, are you going to join this kind of club?" Wang Li grabbed Jiang Mengyuan's arm and shivered.
Yu Huifang, however, said strangely: "Isn't it said that nerds are usually fat and greasy? This image is way too far off."
It must be said that Zheng Yang's most prominent personality trait was that he didn't care at all about grooming his external image. He washed his hair whenever he thought of it, didn't care if his clothes were worn inside out, and often stayed up late at night doing computer exam problems and playing shooters, making him look extremely listless.
Compared to the tall, handsome, and clean senior brothers from the Basketball Club who could leave a good impression on them at a glance, Zheng Yang only made them want to leave this place as quickly as possible, fearing that if they left late, they would have their lives taken by him.
Yu Huifang and Wang Li both wanted to run away. With no other choice, Chang Lingling was forced to represent their dorm and stand out to communicate with Zheng Yang.
"Yes, senior, we have the intention, but we would still like to see your Anime Club's specific participation requirements and club activity content first. Could you please introduce them?"
Now it was Zheng Yang's turn to be confused. He scratched his head: "Ah? We are the Esports Club recruitment booth. We aren't the same as the Anime Club. If you want to find the Anime Club, you should go to the side."
"Esports Club?" Chang Lingling stepped forward and looked carefully for a moment, discovering that although their table and sunshade were placed in the same area as the Anime Club, there was indeed a distance between them, and the poster supported by a wooden frame in front of them also had the three large characters "Esports Club" written on it.
So it was they who had mistaken the place. The Coca-Cola and Two-dimensional sunshades were not at all for distinguishing between male and female recruitment spots, but were sunshades for two different clubs.
"Sorry, we looked at the wrong place. We wanted to join the Anime Club." Chang Lingling bowed, expressing her apology.
"Uh, it's okay. Actually, our Esports Club is also very good. If you are interested, you can come and take a look."
Seeing them about to go next door, Zheng Yang wanted to speak up to keep them; after all, opposite-sex resources were scarce, and the girl in the lead was very much to his taste.
"No thanks, we don't play games." Chang Lingling firmly refused.
Zheng Yang could only say with slight regret, "Alright, then I wish you junior sisters a good time in other clubs."
Just as they were about to leave, Jiang Mengyuan suddenly asked in a low voice in Chang Lingling's ear: "What kind of club is the Esports Club?"
"It's just a place where a group of people who play games get together to play games."
"Oh~" Jiang Mengyuan hesitated for two seconds, and finally said in a muffled voice: "How about... we... go take a look?"
